Chapter 3 - Jupiter

"What?", I asked, puzzled.

Wasn't that option there for me to pick?

"Nothing, are you sure you're going to pick books or novels?", Ronald asked in a cautious tone.

"Not novels, but books.", And I corrected him in a serious tone.

"A distinction, eh?", he muttered, then spoke up clearly before I could process what I had heard, "It's novels. I just realized that you could go to the library to pick boring books. And by novels I mean online novels."

"Tch, he figured it out", I cursed softly, but quickly spoke up in a more audible voice.

"No, it's books or novels. You can't go back on your word."

"And you said you wouldn't study!"

We were at a deadlock as we exchanged gazes.

"Fine novels it is", I said, defeated. And walked towards my desk, picked up my glasses and rummaged through the grocery bag.

"Great, and I'll pick them for you."

"Yeah, yeah whatever. I'm going to take a shower so don't touch my desk! Or any others, you're not allowed to be inspired from me. Got it?"

"Haha, loud and clear!", he replied cheerfully.

I glanced at him once more before I turned around and left the lab, to go to the showers prepared for shut-in researchers like myself.

About twenty minutes later, I headed back to the lab, looking like a completely different person. However, one thing remained unchanged: the suspicion-inducing dark circles surrounding my eyes.

I ignored the curious looks I received from the few students I met on my way to the lab, and heaved a sigh of relief when I finally made it. But then I quickly noticed it was locked.

'Ronald must have locked it up, or a teacher had caught him loitering inside…', I pondered over what might have happened as I turned around and headed to the hostel hoping to meet Ronald waiting downstairs.

"You're finally here. Took ya long enough," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Was there a luxury bed in there that I didn't know about?"

"No, or I wouldn't have bothered coming downstairs at all.", I retorted back almost immediately, but I quickly changed my tune when I failed to hear his usual lively laughter.

"Well you didn't wait for me like I asked you to, and I had to go to the professor's office to get the key card, then back to submit a report on my research, and the materials I used in the meantime. Oh and I'm sorry I didn't do it earlier…"

I explained patiently to Ronald, simply because he deserved the explanation and mostly because I felt guilty for wasting so much of his time, when I could have done it all before he came.

"Haa… it's okay. Here, two super awesome handmade sandwiches from the grocery store for you! Be honored~…"

Ronald presented me with the impromptu lunch he got, and I smilingly took it from him.

"Thank you for your grace, I will eat this with utmost gratitude and satisfaction"

I replied following his tune, and we both laughed as we headed back to the dorms.

It was still raining, but it wasn't as heavy as before so our umbrellas could take it.

In due time, we arrived at the hostel. And while I went to rearrange my books, Ronald said he was going to fetch a list of good novels for me to choose from and read.

"You better read at least one of 'em, cause I'm gonna quiz you.", He said as he stood by the door ready to leave.

"Alright, alright. Now go do your own stuff.", I waved him off as I started to download the list.

"Okay~!", He closed the door and finally left the room.

"Haa…", I sighed as I watched the download rate.

78%… 88%… 98%… 99%...

'One more percent to go…', I thought as I laid down my head to rest.

And I woke up by 7 pm, and came face to face with my computer screen and the downloaded list read to be opened.

"Really?", I chuckled awkwardly and began to go through the list he sent to me.

'…Number 74. Madam can't stop trying to dominate me.

Number 75. How I tamed the male lead.

Number 76. I accidentally became the master of the biggest harem in another world…'

"What kind of of reading list is this?!", I quietly expressed my surprise.

I didn't know that Ronald liked these kinds of novels. The reading list had about 100 novel recommendations, and I had combed through seventy of them, and found about 10 novels that weren't so… erotic.

I finished looking through the list and started to search for a few novels I picked out as decent or interesting simply based on their titles.

Even so, most of the novels I picked out either failed to pique my interest, or had to be dropped after a few chapters.

I eventually found myself on a novel site, and started to go through the novels on it. That was when I saw an ad.

'Hello~! I'm an avid reader and genuine fan of (How To Find The Female Lead) and I'm so pained to find out the low reader count has discouraged the author to continue writing. So I decided to sponsor them! And help them to find readers. Here are the conditions you need to fulfill to get a reward.

Read at least one third of the total amount of chapters and leave a review about the novel. Proof is required.

Reward: 100 coins, or 100 dollars.

Read at least half of the novel and leave a review about the novel. Proof is required.

Reward: 150 coins, or 150 dollars.

Read the novel and become a reader who actively leaves comments for every chapter. Proof is required.

Reward: 10 coins, or 10 dollars for every comment.

Send the proof to my Comeon, and claim your prize there. Comeon ID: QueenValforever.'

'Are people allowed to be this crazy?', I wondered as I went to the comment section.

That's bullshit, just say no one's reading your novel and you need more readers.

------- Hey, I know the creator of this post, and they're not the author!

------ Come on, you shouldn't wag your tongue so wantonly on the internet. I tried it, and it's real

------ Yeah, I agree with user @579 it's definitely real. This is not the first time Queenvalforever is pulling a stunt like this.

------ Yo, don't burn bridges before you cross it. Lemme quickly check to see if it's true. (Edited) It actually works, here's a screenshot. Photo.jpg

I tried it guys and it's totally real! But here's a little advice, just stick with the third mission and complete the first two while ya at it. It pays really well, and the novel's not that bad, it's actually really good, the characters are so relatable, the story is easy to follow and the chapters are regularly published. I'd like to say more to encourage passing readers to read it, but I think I'll save it for my next review. Bye (◠‿・)—☆

It seems like it's real, should I try it. Let's see, when was it posted… about a year ago. When is the most recent comment, 2 months ago.

Since they haven't taken it down then it must still be functional. It's worth it to try it out, I'll be reading novels, building my vocabulary and writing skills, and making money at the same time. That's killing multiple birds with one stone.

But let me quickly look it up.
