Chapter 7 - Robotics, The Wait.

The nice one _Hey derrick, what's wrong with you?!_

The odd one _Sil, it's been a while since I last saw you so of course you can come! Don't worry it's your treat and I'll accept your apology_

Happy go lucky R _Of course you can come! If you can't would we announce it here_

The rowdy one _Yo! Ricky, what creature snuck up ya a*s_

The awesome one _Hello Sil~ I'm looking forward to seeing you tomorrow!_

The rowdy one _Huh? Yo, Sil is there something going on?_

The nice one _Yeah, what's with that tone?! (Laughing emoji)_

The odd one _Hahaha, you totally shut derrick up! (Wild laughing gif) _

The awesome one _Hey, how are your projects going, any success?_

Happy go lucky R _ …_

I smiled as I read the messages, but instead of replying I just backed out of the chatroom.

If there was one thing I had learnt from my experience with social media, it was a simple yet valuable lesson. If everyone was online, don't bother opening their messages, and if you do open the message, don't bother replying.

This was a hard-earned lesson, one that stemmed from the realization that responding to messages could lead to endless conversations. Ultimately, it would prevent me from focusing on my goals and disrupt my carefully planned schedule.

I scrolled through my contacts, responded to a few messages and then exited the app before they could reply.

But it seemed as though the recipients of my replies had been waiting for me to come online as they promptly sent their replies as well as "Where have you been" kind of questions.

With a sigh, I disabled the app then turned my wifi connection off.

Having done that, I turned my phone camera on and struggled to keep it steady whilst facing me and my robot.

Lately, I found it difficult to backtrack my progress, but I didn't have the spare time to pick up a pen and start writing, so I went with the next best option, a camera.

After a dreadful six minutes and several tries I finally got something manageable and decided to buy a camera whenever I had an opportunity.

I faced the robot and smiled.

This was the product of my hard work since my freshman year. However, I still hadn't completed the final step in creating a functional robot, due to one small problem.

It wasn't the creation or insertion of the AI but the power source of the robot that was giving me problems.

In fact, my previous attempt had ended in disaster - the robot had exploded - but thankfully, I had managed to salvage an awkward blueprint from my freshman year.

It had a lot of instructions and diagrams, but it was mostly scribbles on top of scribbles.

And after multiple attempts I created a similar one, but without a proper blueprint, the similarity included the same problem I had in the last robot.

Which was the power source. It was too close to the radiator which heated it up and caused it to explode.

So what I needed was not a relocation of the radiator, but a replacement for the power source. Simply because the radiator cannot be in any other position, or else a similar yet complicated problem would arise.

After thinking all these through, I leaned back and let out a deep breath.

'Hmm… dinner tomorrow, I wonder how that'll go.'

Staring at the ceiling, I wondered with a warm smile on his face.

And those were my thoughts before the incident.

Late evening arrived sooner than expected and I had assembled and disassembled the robot countless times.

I had repositioned the power source because I wanted to make do with it, since I couldn't afford the one I thought he needed.

Letting out an exasperated sigh, I pushed myself away from the table and stood up, feeling frustrated rather than exhausted.

In the end, I returned to my dorm room and fell asleep reading [How to find the female lead] fanfics.

When I woke up the next day, I washed up and left the dorm.

I asked for leave for all my classes that day, and headed into the robotics workshop.

I picked out the modifications for the power source and left the school that morning.

Last night, before I fell asleep, I thought about buying a new power source that had a stronger and more heat resistant shell, to prevent the robot from exploding since I could not

Before he I asleep last night, I thought about buying a new power source that came in with an inbuilt shell that prevented it from exploding. Since I could not reposition the power source, I might as well buy a better one.

However, the thought of how expensive it could be made me put it off for later.

But when I woke up this morning, I felt rejuvenated and decided to just risk it, and buy it if I came across it.

After all, You only live once haha.

I went out that morning to a shopping mall to buy a power source, battery and a decent camera I can use to film my progress just in case.

But I ended up just buying the camera, as the battery was too expensive to buy alongside the camera, and the power source was just not available.

After that one outing, I was stuck with going back to school for classes or to my workshop.

But since I had already taken multiple sick leaves, I decided not to go back at all and just take that trip Ronald suggested.

Plus I had a camera, and the pictures I could take would serve as an alibi for the next time Ronald bothers me to take a trip or pick up a hobby.

I chatted Ronald up and asked him for recommendations, and Ronald swiftly responded.

You _I'm planning on going sightseeing_

Ronald _Really? Without me?!_

You _Yeah, I'm going alone_

Ronald _You won't even bother to pretend to invite me (Pouting emoji)_

You _Yup, after all I'm seeing you tonight so why bother (Clueless emoji)_

_Ronald is typing…_

On seeing that, I hurriedly exited the app.

After that brief conversation, I felt enthusiastic towards our meetup tonight.

Later on, I checked out the locations Ronald had sent to me and chose the nearest one.

I soon departed after I created a road map, and enjoyed a short relaxing trip before evening came.

I returned to the campus around 4 pm and went back to the dorms to take a bath and a light nap.

I woke up a few minutes after five, and went to my favorite cafe to read my favorite novel.

But I left a few minutes later when I encountered the novel's Hiatus.

I knew How To Find The Female Lead was on Hiatus, and it was its side stories that was currently being updated.

But I hoped the author would have gone off their hiatus and resumed the work, after all it had been quite sometime since their hiatus.

And that was before I even began reading.

Despite my dislike for Valeria, I still liked the author's original work and writing so much that I put up with it.

But I constantly skipped chapters and barely read it at all.

"Argh, why did the author have to go on Hiatus!? Someone needs to dissuade them not to write about Valeria anymore!"

I complained as I stood up, and left the cafe as soon as I noticed the gazes on me due to my sudden outburst.

"But if they did want to write a side story, they could have written more about Anya…"

I muttered under my breath, still feeling frustrated.

It was a few minutes to six, but I decided to go to the restaurant ahead of time as I had nothing to do.

When I got there, no one had come yet so I decided to search up more fan fics about How to find the female lead.

And so, the wait began.
