The excitement on campus was palpable as the day of the Freshman Welcome Event arrived. It was a special event organized by the college to help new students mingle, make friends, and feel a sense of community. The event was set to take place in the grand hall, a stunning space with high ceilings, chandeliers, and large windows that let in streams of sunlight.
Mira was thrilled at the prospect of attending the event. She and Jenna spent the afternoon getting ready, picking out outfits and talking about their expectations. "I heard there's going to be music, food, and games," Jenna said, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "It's going to be so much fun!"
"I can't wait," Mira replied, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. "It'll be a great way to meet new people."
Meanwhile, Jake was less enthusiastic about the event. He had never been one for social gatherings and preferred quieter, more intimate settings. However, Mark had convinced him to attend. "Come on, man," Mark said, clapping Alex on the back. "It'll be a good way to meet people and make some new friends. Plus, there's free food!"
Jake chuckled, knowing Mark wouldn't take no for an answer. "Alright, alright. I'll go," he said, relenting. "But don't expect me to dance."
As the evening approached, the grand hall began to fill with students. There was a festive atmosphere, with string lights hanging from the ceiling, tables laden with food, and a DJ playing upbeat music, with the decorations and extras the hall was unique in its own way. Giving off a classy and mysterious vibe, making the students more intrigued. The excitement was infectious, and even Jake found himself feeling a bit more optimistic, not for a second regretting why he was here.
Mira and Jenna arrived at the event, their eyes wide with wonder as they took in the decorations and the lively crowd. The grand hall was filled with students, students with different fashion taste, this added to the vibe of the party, all were eager to make new friends and celebrate the beginning of their college journey. The sound of laughter, music, and clinking glasses created an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation.
"Look at all these people!" Jenna exclaimed, grabbing Mira's arm. "This is going to be amazing!"
Mira smiled, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. "Yeah, it's a bit overwhelming, but in a good way."
As they made their way through the crowd, they stopped at various stations to try the different activities. There were games, photo booths, and even a karaoke stage where brave students showcased their singing talents. Mira and Jenna laughed and joined in, with Mira singing along the karaoke, taking silly photos and cheering on the performers.
Meanwhile, Jake and Mark had also arrived at the event. Despite his initial reluctance, Jake couldn't help but be drawn into the festive atmosphere. Mark, ever the social butterfly, quickly struck up conversations with other students, introducing Jake to new faces.
"Hey, Jake! Come meet these guys," Mark called out, waving him over. Jake sighed but made his way to the group, determined to make the best of the evening. He introduced himself and soon found himself engaged in a conversation about music, one of his passions. For a moment, he forgot about his reservations and genuinely enjoyed the company.
As the evening progressed, Mira and Jenna found themselves at the refreshment table, sampling the delicious array of treats. Mira was about to take a sip of her drink when she heard a voice behind her.
"Excuse me, can I get by?" She turned to see Jake standing there, a polite but slightly impatient expression on his face. Their eyes met, and for a split second, it was as if the noise and chaos of the event faded away. There was something familiar in his gaze, a sense of recognition that neither could quite place.
"Oh, sure," Mira said, stepping aside to let him pass. "Sorry about that."
"No problem," Jake replied, his tone softening. "Thanks."
As Jake reached for a drink, he couldn't shake the feeling that he had seen Mira before. There was something about her that felt significant in a strange way. But before he could dwell on it, Mark called out to him again, pulling him back into the conversation.
Mira watched Jake walk away, a curious expression on her face. "Do you know that guy?" Jenna asked, noticing her friend's sudden distraction.
"No, I don't think so. He just seemed... familiar," Mira replied, shaking her head. "Anyway, let's check out the dance floor!"
The rest of the evening was filled with the laughter and dancing of students who are excited for their new life chapter. Mira and Jake enjoyed the event with their friends, unaware that their paths were destined to cross again.
As the night drew to a close, Mira and Jenna said their goodbyes and headed back to their dorm. They were both exhausted but exhilarated by the evening's events.
"That was so much fun!" Jenna exclaimed, bouncing up and down as they walked. "I'm so glad we came."
"Me too," Mira agreed, smiling. "I feel like we're really starting to get into the swing of things here".
They continued chatting and laughing, talking about what happened at the event on their way to the dorm.
"Spill the beans" Jenna said with an awkward smile on her face as soon as they entered into their room.
"What are you talking about?" Mira asked.
"Oh, come on, so you're going to act like you don't know what am talking about" Jenna said with a grin. "Let me remind you then, the guy at the refreshment table" she said
"Geez Jenna, I just met him at the event, but he seemed quite familiar like I have seen him before" Mira said
"It doesn't seem like it, but anyways I won't push it" Jenna said
On the other side was Jake with his own thoughts. "She seemed so familiar, but I can't pinpoint if we've met before" he said to himself.
He was lost in his taught not until Mark tapped him.
"Hey man, are you okay, been calling you for a while now" Mark said with a concerned look.
"Yeah, am okay. Let's head back" Jake replied, he waved the feeling he was having, saying maybe they've met somewhere before.
The night was becoming close, and the event was put to an end, all student heading back to their respective places. With each having a memory to talk about.
