"Using the pill he consumed must have caused him to react like this…" he thought before instantly pushing forward and charging with an attack. His steps blared as he approached Gordon, who instantly pointed his wand in his direction, shooting more spirals. Quickly adjusting his balance, Dante dodged as soon as he continued to charge, his eyes focused entirely on Gordon.
"His accuracy is off…" he thought before dodging his onslaught of spirals. Moving left and right to evade each, doing his best to remember his habits, Dante felt all he was taught had come to fruition throughout this fight. It was becoming easier to predict not only his movements but also his condition as the cracks began to appear on each of the surrounding pillars. Gordon tried to subvert his movements by shooting from multiple angles, but Dante continued to dodge and slash through each attack, gaining confidence with each step taken.
"It's breaking down…If I can just get in-"
Just then, a sudden realization came to him. He'd seen his attacks by trusting his senses and seeing his wand's direction. Before he knew it, there were two spirals lodged in his back, causing him to scream in pain. He'd been struck before by the spiral in the leg, but the two in the back felt more charged than ever. He fell to his knees as he writhed in pain from the impact. Gordon laughed as his voice strained to the point of barely being legible.
"You ended up getting cocky…because my eyesight's all disoriented. You can't rely only on your eyes, ya dumbass!" he snickered as he looked at his pillars and pressed his hand against one of them. Feeling along the cracks and smirking to himself.
"Taking down a Dragonborn is sure to put me in the history books. You are going to be granted a place in my legend, kid. Consider it an honor…" He began to lift his wand upward once more, creating a larger spiral than before. It began to spin rapidly as he adjusted his aim to focus on Dante. He knew that with one shot of this, the Dragonborn would be as good as dead. His smile turned to joy as he uttered his next words.
"Good riddance…ya damn monster."
Just as he was about to fire off his spell, a sudden flash of pain hit Gordon, which caused him to stumble backward, holding his head in hand. The pounding sensation in his brain was like nothing else he'd ever experienced. He let out a pained scream as the tone in the air began to shift.
"Shit…my sight. Not now…dammit!" He said, realizing that the power-up was soon ending; he had overused his mana limit throughout this fight, and Dante could push him past the point with his persistence and swordplay. He could never have expected a swordsman to cause him such trouble, much less a kid with no battle experience. His vision became shaky, but he knew if anything, he could just rely on his secondary ability, "Echolocation."
It had been how he'd been able to sense where he was, even without having a direct sightline on him. However, there was one factor that'd cause him trouble with this ability. Gordon looked up quickly before realizing what could negate such a helpful ability.
"Shit…!"
Dante looked up and saw the top of the cage begin to shatter, piece by piece, cracking until it eventually fell to the ground, causing dust to fly into the air from the impact. The rain began to drop heavily amongst the ground and broken pillars on the ground. The rain fell on his skin, slowly dropping through his hair; he looked in Gordon's direction as he slowly began to stand again, even with the injuries sustained.
"I'm…not finished…yet…!"
He strained as he retook his stance; his hands were rough and hardened, but the rain falling from the sky fell on them. The sky was gray, and the ground became soaked; his heavy breaths and the rain sounded before screams were heard from the outside. His ears perked up as the sound of many yells from outside of the pillars sounded off. His eyes slowly opened wide as he realized who they were.
"You can do it, Dante!"
"Kick his ass!"
"Don't let him beat you!"
"Show ''' the power of Riverant Village, kid!"
It was the yells of the villagers he'd see every day; hearing each of their pleas and yells not only impacted his confidence at the moment but his will. He took a deep breath before a sudden flash of orange was seen from within the pillar's cage. Gordon looked up to see Dante's figure standing with his blurred vision and a bright light encapsulating what seemed to be his blade. He quickly tried to stand but fell over himself from the strain the pill was putting on his body.
"Dammit…damn you!" he yelled as he aimed his wand once more and fired his spell off in his direction. Dante looked forward, steeled with a new determination after hearing such words from those he grew to know and care for within the village. He knew they were relying on him to take down the threat and save the village one way or another. He adjusted his stance before charging forward at the spiral.
"I'm done playing your games!"
