Chapter 56 - Chapter 56

 Ivonne's POV

Tension cracked in between us, as his blue gazed into my brown. I felt myself being enchanted and for a moment I lost sense of where I was before I cleared my throat and turned away.

"Good morning Luna," Jarvis greeted as he walked in our direction, he and Reed shirtless as the rest of the male warriors, nonetheless my gaze didn't linger on them as it had attention for only one man.

"Morning Javis," I acknowledged. "How's your eye?"

"Our Luna is a petty one," Reed scoffed at my question while Jarvis rolled his eyes and Tobias remained quiet, his vision shifting between the crowd of warriors who were training in groups and us.

"Still don't want to let that slide hmm?" Jarvis taunted, rubbing his left eye. "Your man does throw a strong punch."

"You are lucky I didn't strangle you," Tobias grunted and I sent him a glare.

"Trust me, I was lucky. I expected to be jacked in the air though," he revealed. "So I'm grateful to the moon goddess that didn't happen. Moreover, I saw it coming though."

"The strangling or the punch?" I questioned in confusion.

"Anyone," he shrugged while Reed silently laughed and Tobias bit back a smile. It seemed they were in on a joke and I was left out.

"Okay, I'm lost," I sighed.

"He had it coming after he disobeyed the Alpha's wishes by allowing you to put your life danger during the rogue attack," Reed explained. "It seemed the Alpha was occupied with your health and all to think of him."

"So when I slipped up by hitting you too hard he packed everything in one punch," Jarvis finished the story and it all made sense.

"Oh wow," I shook my head and laughed. "I get it now."

"Enough with the jokes and formalities," Tobias grunted and returned his attention to us, specifically his two friends and associates if I should call them that. "Don't you two have groups to oversee?"

"Yes Alpha," Reed bobbed his head and hid a smile on his lips.

"You said the Luna would run today right?" Jarvis raised a question and I nodded. "True, he said so," I grinned. "I'm about to show him what I'm made of."

"You missed seeing her during the rogue attack," Jarvis uttered. "She had great speed." "You mean you a fast one?" Reed lifted a brow in curiousity as he asked.

"Yes," I affirmed, feeling my bones and Ria get excited. She had been wanting a run since her return however with the pack duties, Tobias's trip, rogue attack and my recovery, I haven't had a chance to give her what she wanted.

"Are you ready?" Tobias implored, his gaze on me.

"I was born ready." I replied, a full blown grin splitting my lips.

"I hope you are," he smirked and faced forward, doing a few kicks and stretching his arms. It was a difficult task to stop myself from drooling at his thighs which were revealed by the shorts he had on.

"So who am I racing with?" I asked, my glance shifting between the three men who were close to me. "Three of you?"

"Nope," Jarvis moved his head from side to side in denial.

"He won't let us," Reed scoffed, offering Tobias a playful glare to which the Alpha scoffed and turned away.

"You both need to stay back and monitor the group training," he asserted, his tone clipped. "I'll run with you Ivonne."

"Shit," I let out in worry and surprise. "That's unfair. There's no way in the world I can outrun the Alpha."

"Reason why I told you not to get too excited," Tobias reminded and put one foot in front of the other. "But I have a deal."

"Hit me," I declared, ready to hear him out.

"We are going to cut a path through the woods and stop at the stream," he spoke. "If you can get there at the same pace with me, you win."

"As if that's gonna be easy," I sighed before squaring my shoulders. "But I'm ready to test it out."

"Call it Jarvis," he said and his beta nodded.

"Ready?" Jarvis started and I took a stance same as Tobias. "3, 2, 1!"

We took off, our arms and legs flipping in the air as we pushed our body forward with force. The sound of the wind filled my ears as we cut through the roads that lined the pack.

I allowed myself to fall back a little and let Tobias lead the path he knew to the woods hence I wasn't that familiar with such route. If it was back at the Blood pack I'd know but I didn't in the Moon pack.

Once we entered the woods, Ria giggled in my head in excitement as I kicked my feet forward, putting all my might and strength in my hands and thighs.

My speed accelerated and he was unaware of this change till I flew past him, a grin on my lips at his shocked expression. In the seconds that followed as I enjoyed my little victory, he made it short-lived as it was his turn to pass me.

"Oh it's on," I muttered to myself, and kicked the last bit of strength in me, as I began to hear the sound of the stream in the distance.

The branches moved in the breeze, caressing our skin as we raced each other to the stream. We reached a clearing that led to the water spot and we came to a halt at the same time, luckily I finished at his pace.

Body bent over, I placed my palms on my knees, my heart beating fast in my chest as the adrenaline pumped through my veins, sweat dripping over my skin.

"You really outdid yourself Ivonne," he complimented breathlessly, probably feeling the same way I was though not as intense.

"I told you," I answered, gasping for air, the stream looking beauty and appetizing as I regretted not grabbing a bottle of water.

"So, tell me, I won right?"

"You did," he smiled at me as I straightened my posture to gaze at him, my expression parking up as he strolled to me. "And.."

"And?" I repeated, urging him to continue as he left the sentence hanging.

"And, here's your reward," he smirked, his palms landing on my shoulders lightly as he leaned in.

I tilted my head to the side as my eyes held curiosity. His blue irises pulled me in and his lips brushed mine and I shivered as electricity pulsed through me.

He noticed this and smiled before one of his hands on my shoulder sneaked upward to my neck, angling my head. He bit my lower lip, causing me to inhale sharply and granted him access to deepen the kiss as his mouth and mine moved on each other.

My eyes shut of their own accord as the other palm slid down my arm to my waist, pulling me in to press my body to his, my tongue danced with his as the kiss grew intense and I felt my whole body lighting up with desire and lust.

Before things could get more heated he detached our lips and smiled at me, his blue eyes holding a strong emotion that made my heart catch. "Turn around."

"Hmmm?" I inquired, lost, my brain still hazy from the kiss that I couldn't comprehend his words yet.

"Turn around Ivonne," he advised. Hearing him clearer and understanding him this time, I did as told and gasped as a small box sat on a rock by the stream. "Open it."

Speechless, my hands clasping together, I walked and picked it up. Inhaling a deep breath, I opened the emerald jewelry box.
