"Where am I…? Why can't I see anything?"
His vision was extremely blurry and weak; he couldn't understand what was happening, but he felt that something was wrong with him.
His hearing was greatly disturbed, like a loud, ringing, and buzzing noise in his ears. "Ah… How annoying…"
After minutes of the pain, his vision gradually began to return until it was completely restored.
He was leaning against a wall behind him as rain poured down from above him. The atmosphere was desolate, and filthy smells filled the entire place.
Although he realized the state he was in, he couldn't understand it… he couldn't understand anything.
His thoughts remained chaotic as he looked at his small hands. "What is this ugly thing…?"
He couldn't move his body—not because he could clearly see the bruises and blood covering it, but because he couldn't understand what this body was.
No matter how hard he tried to move it, he couldn't move any of his hands. "What is this creature? Is this a hand?! Why is it so small?!"
He continued to feel a strange and unfamiliar sensation as he stared at his hands. The sensation was extremely uncomfortable—it was the feeling of pain.
He didn't understand what pain was or what this feeling meant, but he was uncomfortable with what he felt. He couldn't describe these feelings because he had never experienced them before.
Time passed as he stared at the road ahead of him under the dirty smells and cold weather amidst the heavy rain, but things didn't stop there. The situation worsened when his stomach started making noises. He didn't know what this stupid noise was, but his condition was getting worse and worse—he felt constantly hungry.
After several minutes, he started hearing a loud ringing sound in his ears, causing him to move his hands for the first time since he found himself in this body.
He pressed his hands to his ears as hard as he could as the sound grew louder until he lost consciousness for a moment.
During those moments, memories of that small body began to flood into his mind. The body belonged to a weak human boy with no honor, no parents, and no family. He was one of the "human insects," endlessly bullied and called dirty by everyone.
Tears streamed down the boy's eyes as he couldn't understand why this was happening. There was a deep sadness and intense pain in his heart that he couldn't understand or bear—a desperate feeling filled with anger and conflicting emotions.
When the flood of memories stopped, the noise in his ears disappeared. His eyes were red like embers, filled with hatred and pain.
"Fuck... What in the name of the gods is this thing?!"
"Why am I, the great Astris, in the body of this weak insect…?!"
Despite Astris's blurry memories of his life before he was reincarnated into this human body, he could barely remember the faces of those who had killed him.
Astris began to stand, staggering left and right, unable to adjust to the legs of his new body.
It was like a newborn trying to walk—every time he stood up, he would fall to the ground. But he didn't give up he kept trying and started moving.
After several minutes of effort, he somehow managed to move properly. Even though he wasn't the original owner of this body, he began to regain memories of how to move and use it.
He walked aimlessly, his stomach making loud growling noises. On top of that, he felt cold all the way to the bottom of his feet. His body was covered in bruises and blood from the bullying that Martin—the previous owner of the body—had endured before Astris took over his body.
After walking for a few minutes, he came across other humans lying in the alleys. Some had dead eyes, while others looked almost insane.
Homeless people were scattered in the streets, scattered under the roofs of dilapidated houses that barely protected them from the rain.
Sometimes he would see women being assaulted and raped in the edges of the alley, with no one intervening to protect them. Sometimes he would see people fighting to the death mercilessly.
He was the only one walking in the pouring rain while everyone looked at him with disgust and hatred.
Astris paid them no attention and continued walking, hoping for only one thing… food.
The hunger he felt was unbearable. Although he had never understood hunger as a great entity before, the memories of this body made him realize that humans needed something basic to survive: food and water.
A few minutes later, he found himself in front of a street seller who owned a small stall with fruits and vegetables.
Although the fruits looked rotten and inedible, the homeless people of this filthy neighborhood had no choice but to eat them.
Astris approached the seller and reached out to grab an apple, but the vendor slapped his hand and shouted at him: "Get away from here, you dirty rat!"
Astris couldn't understand how a lowly creature like this human dared to raise his voice at him. He ordered him angrily: "You weak, ugly creature, how dare you raise your voice at me?!"
Astris reached out towards him with murderous intent, but nothing happened...
Astris didn't have his powers?! At that moment, the seller hit him hard in the face, causing him to fall harshly to the ground as the seller spat on him.
"You little beggar, you seem to have lost your mind," the seller said as he kicked him repeatedly.
Astris crawled in pain, unable to do anything. He was extremely weak and covered in blood.
Until he began to lose consciousness, looking at the seller with a murderous look that made the him even more angry, as he continued to kick Astris small body.
But before Astris lost consciousness, he saw the face of an old woman hitting the seller with something... It was an umbrella.
Astris did not know who is she and why she is doing but at the end he lost consciousness, lost in his memories...
A few hours later, Astris woke up, his mouth dry, feeling exhausted and in severe pain all over his body.
But he found himself in a different place. It was a warm room with a fireplace in the middle, burning wood to warm the room. Astris looked at his bandaged body, still not acclimating to his new body.
He felt sad and angry at his weakness.
Until he heard a soft, affectionate voice: "Are you hungry ?"
Astris looked towards the voice and saw an old woman who looked to be in her seventies.
He replied rudely: "Yes, give me some food!"
The old woman smiled and said: "Wait a minute."
A few minutes later, she returned carrying a small tray with a small plate containing soup and a small piece of bread. She placed the tray on the boy's lap and smiled at him. "I don't have much food, but I hope you like it."
Astris didn't know what this food was, but he began to eat greedily. His eyes were streaming with tears as he ate quickly, not understanding why he was crying or what these tears were, so he continued eating while crying bitterly.
