Chapter 6 - Temperamental Boss

Chapter 7: Temperamental Boss

Mia woke up late on her first day of work, . She rushed out of bed,She quickly threw off the covers and rushed to get dressed, but not before pushing Sarah out of the way. "Sorry, girl, I'm late!" she exclaimed, as Sarah groggily sat up and rubbed her eyes. "I'll give you a ride to work," she said, already knowing that Mia was going to be late.

Mia nodded gratefully and finished getting dressed. She grabbed her bag and followed Sarah out the door. The hangover from the previous night's party was still lingering, and she couldn't shake off the feeling of exhaustion.

As they drove to the company, Mia's anxiety grew. She was already late on her first day at work, and she knew that she was in trouble. When they arrived, Sarah dropped her off at the entrance and wished her good luck.

Mia took a deep breath and stepped out of the car, smoothing out her wrinkled clothes. She rushed into the building, hoping to make it to her first day on time. But as she approached the reception desk, she saw the HR manager, Tracy , frowning at her.

"Mia, you're late," Tracy said, her voice stern. "You need to get to the president's office right away. He's not happy about your lateness."

Mia nodded apologetically and followed Tracy to the president's office. As they walked, Tracy whispered to her, "Be careful, Mia. The president has a temper. Just be on your best behavior and try to make a good impression."

Mia nodded, feeling a surge of nervousness. She had never been one to deal well with authority figures, and the thought of facing a temperamental boss made her stomach twist with anxiety. When she arrived, she was greeted by a tall, imposing figure with piercing blue eyes and chiseled features.

"Good morning, Mia,that's your name right??, " Kaiden said, his voice cold and detached. "I'm Kaiden, your boss. And let me make one thing clear: I don't tolerate nonsense. You're late, and that's unacceptable."

Mia felt a surge of fear as Kaiden's eyes narrowed at her. "I'm sorry, sir," she stammered. "It won't happen again."

But Kaiden just raised an eyebrow. "See that it doesn't. Now, let's get to work. You're my new assistant, and I expect nothing but perfection from you."

For the next month, Mia found herself walking on eggshells around Kaiden. He was a strict boss, always finding fault in everything she did. He would scold her for the smallest mistake, and his temper was legendary.

But despite his wickedness, Mia couldn't help but strangely felt drawn to him. There was more to him. She somewhat felt he was kind at heart despite his temper.

As the days went by, Mia found herself crying to Sarah every day about her horrible boss. Sarah would console her, telling her to hang in there, that things would get better.

But they didn't. Kaiden just seemed to get worse, finding new ways to torment her every day.

One evening, as Mia was working overtime in Kaiden's office, she noticed him nodding off in his chair. She tried calling out to him, but he didn't respond.

As she approached his desk to drop off the documents she had just finished working on, she was struck by his peaceful sleeping face.He looked so charming and beautiful while asleep. His features were relaxed, his eyes closed, and his hair mussed.

He looked...charming.

Mia felt a tangling sensation in her chest and then she reached out to caress his hair. But just as her fingers made contact, Kaiden's eyes snapped open, and he grabbed her hand.

"What are you trying to do?" he asked, his voice low and rough.

Mia felt a flush rise to her cheeks as she stuttered, "I..,I was just trying to drop off the documents, sir."

Kaiden didn't wait for her response. "Are you done?" he asked, his eyes narrowing.

Mia nodded, feeling a sense of relief. "Yes, sir."

Kaiden stood up, his movements so graceful and powerful. "Good. Let's get out of here. I'll give you a lift home."

Mia's eyes widened in surprise. "You don't have to, sir."

But Kaiden just shrugged. "Everyone's gone, and the public transport is closed. It's the least I can do."

As they drove to Mia's apartment, the silence between them was palpable. Mia couldn't help but steal glances at Kaiden, who was staring straight ahead, his eyes fixed on the road.

When they arrived at her apartment, Sarah was waiting for her, a concerned expression on her face. "Hey, girl, how was your day?"

Mia just rolled her eyes. "It was the usual. Kaiden was his usual awful self."

But as she turned to thank Kaiden for the ride, she caught him watching her, a small smile played on his lips as he watched Mia be so affectionate with her friend.

And for a moment, Mia felt like she saw something there, something that looked almost like...kindness.

But it was quickly replaced by his usual scowl, and Mia was left wondering if she'd just imagined it.
