My heels click against the floor as I make my way to the study and I frown when I hear footsteps. I pause to make sure I'm not hearing things and my heart pounds in my chest when I make out someone walking in this direction and I ditch my heels so I can tiptoe the rest of the way to the study. When I enter, I immediately find the book on the bookshelf and pull it so the bookshelf opens to another secret spot. I get in and close it just as the door to the office opens, I try to calm my breathing as I look through the hole to see who it is. My eyes narrow when I see a woman I never saw before going around the study looking for something.
"Where is it?" She asks herself in frustration as she looks through the drawers. And if I had to guess I would say she's looking for the keys to the throne room which would give her access to the crown. My guess is right when she finds the keys and yells a 'yes' in victory.
No way.
I wait until she walks past the bookshelf to the door before pushing hard on the bookshelf so that it slams again her as it opens. I hear the key fall somewhere on the floor and I try looking for it but before I can find it, she pulls my leg and I fall on the floor with a loud thud and let out a pained groan as my head slams hard against the floor. But before I can do anything, she's on top of me "You shouldn't have done that" she wraps her hands around my throat and I try to get her off me as she tightens her hands on my throat "First you steal Romero then you try to steal Tyler from me too."
My eyes widen in realisation that this is Tyler's mom. I try to talk but I can't because she's tightening her hands, cutting off my air and I hit at her to let me go but she doesn't. I feel around me for something and my fingers find the key, I take it into my hand before ramming it through her eyes. She lets out a loud yell and I kick her off me before gasping for air but she takes my hair into a death grip and yank my head. "Where the hell do you think you're going?"
I lift my arm and elbow her in the throat and she lets go of me to clutch her throat as she gasps for air and the adrenaline pumps through my veins as I take the letter opener from the desk, get on top of her and ram it into her stomach until she eventually stops breathing. I stare at the letter opener that's full of blood now as my heart pounds in my chest to the point where I can hear it, I drop it to the floor before getting off her and just sitting there and trying to catch my breath. Now that the adrenaline is wearing off, I can hear the men's swords and their yells from outside. I glance at the woman again and my bottom lip quivers knowing that I just killed Tyler's mom. I made him parentless.
Im broken out of my thoughts when I hear Lincoln's voice yelling "Sophia! Why don't you come out and see what I have for you?"
"No! Don't come here, Soph!" My chest tightens as I hear Hayden's voice.
"Sophia, if you don't want me to kill your little lover then you will come out!"
I grit my teeth as I listen to Hayden telling me not to come before letting out a huff of air.
Losing Romero was one thing but I don't think I can go through this fucked up thing people calls life without Hayden. So I take the throne room key out of the woman's eye and make my way out.
I find Lincoln in the foyer with his sword pointed at Hayden's throat while Hayden holds his hands up in surrender. Lincoln smirks when he sees me "There she is. Hello, sister"
Hayden's head snap to me and I give him an apologetic look before I turn to Lincoln "Let him go."
"Now why would I do that?"
I hold up the key and his eyes narrow "Why's it full of blood?" when I don't answer, he goes rigid "Where the fuck is Cindy? Did you do something to her?"
I stiffen when he digs his sword into Hayden's neck and a drop of blood falls from the small cut. I swallow before saying "She's fine. We just had a little fight but she's fine"
He scoffs "I don't believe you"
I shake my head "She's fine, Lincoln. Just take the key and leave Hayden, okay?"
"Fine" he says and I relax but my eyes widen when he raises his sword and aims it for Hayden's head
"No! No!" I yell as I close my eyes because I would lose my mind if I had to see another person I love die.
I hear the sword drop to the floor and tears slips down my face as I hear a loud thud as a body drop too. I'm stood frozen as footsteps walks up to me and I'm more than ready to die right now "Hey, Soph" Hayden says softly as he wraps his arms around me "I'm okay, you're okay, baby"
His familiar smell hits me and I cry in relief as I wrap my arms around him, I glance behind him to see Lincoln laying on the floor with a knife in his back with Tyler and Raya standing behind him. I pull away from Hayden and walk over them before hugging Raya "Are you okay?"
"Yes, are you?"
"I am" I glance at Tyler who's still looking at Lincoln's body and I pull him into a hug too "It's okay, you're safe now"
He's tense for a moment before he hugs me back and the guilt of killing his mother makes me feel horrible but I can't bring myself to let go of him or Raya.
"Why did you guys come out? You could've gotten hurt!"
"We heard the yelling" Raya says
Tyler pipes up "And we didn't get hurt. We're okay."
I nod in relief and catch Hayden's eyes and he mouths "I love you"
I smile through the tears as I mouth back "I love you too"
