In the previous chapter, the mysterious footprints left by the shadowy figure in black under the cover of night seemed like an ominous portent, casting a dark shadow over the Victoria family's path to reconstruction. However, Solomon did not let this stop him. He knew all too well that the restoration and protection of his family was his inescapable responsibility. And throughout this difficult journey, Lianna had remained steadfastly by his side, their love deepening with each trial they faced.
At dawn, sunlight filtered through the dappled leaves of the trees, casting a soft glow over the makeshift medical tents. Lianna was gently tending to the wounds of a family member, her hands skilled and tender, her eyes full of concern.
"How are you feeling? Is it any better?" Lianna asked softly, a warm smile on her face.
"Much better, Miss Lianna. We can't thank you enough for caring for us every day." The wounded soldier replied gratefully.
"Please don't mention it. You've all sacrificed so much for the family, this is the least I can do. I hope you heal soon." Lianna continued, carefully bandaging the wound.
At that moment, Solomon walked in. He paused when he saw Lianna, his gaze full of affection. "Lianna, you're working so hard."
Lianna looked up and smiled warmly. "It's no trouble at all. I'm happy to be able to help. How are things progressing on your end?"
"It's going well. The reconstruction of the houses is proceeding in an orderly fashion, but there are still many details to address." Solomon replied, his face weary but his eyes unyielding.
"I believe in you, Solomon. You will lead the family out of this hardship and restore its glory." Lianna encouraged him.
"Thank you for your trust, Lianna. Having you by my side gives me strength. But sometimes, I do feel the pressure—worrying whether I'm doing enough, whether I can bring the family back to its former glory." Solomon said, furrowing his brow slightly, his voice tinged with concern.
Lianna walked over to him and gently took his hand. "Solomon, you've already done so much. The rebuilding of the family isn't something that can be done overnight—it will take time and effort. And you're not alone in this battle. I will always be here to support you."
"I know. It's just that the responsibility for the family is so great, I cannot afford to relax. Sometimes, I wonder if the weight of this responsibility means we have less time to enjoy moments that belong to just us." Solomon looked at Lianna with a hint of guilt in his eyes.
"Solomon, I understand your responsibilities, and I am willing to share them with you. Our love will not fade because of these difficulties. In fact, it will grow stronger through everything we face together. To me, there is no greater happiness than working with you for the family's future." Lianna said, her eyes sparkling as she looked at him with deep affection.
"You're always so understanding, Lianna. With you by my side, I fear nothing." Solomon said, tightening his grip on her hand.
At that moment, Alfred, the butler, hurried in. "Master Solomon, Elder Claude requests your presence in the council hall. He says there is an important matter to discuss."
"Alright, I'll be there shortly. Lianna, I must attend to some family matters." Solomon said to her.
"Go ahead, don't worry about me. I'll continue caring for the injured." Lianna smiled reassuringly.
Solomon made his way to the council hall, where Elder Claude and several other important family members were waiting.
"Solomon, we've discussed the future direction of the family, and there are some important decisions that need your input." Elder Claude said, his tone serious.
"Elder, please proceed. I'll give it my full consideration." Solomon said, his expression serious.
"First, we need to decide on potential alliances with other factions. This is crucial to strengthening our family's power. What are your thoughts?" Elder Claude asked, looking at Solomon intently.
"This is indeed a significant decision. We must carefully weigh the pros and cons of aligning with various factions and choose the partner that best suits our family. At the same time, we must ensure that our family's interests are protected." Solomon replied after a moment of thought.
"You're right. Another issue concerns internal matters, such as the allocation and management of resources, which also needs to be streamlined." Elder Claude continued.
"I will appoint someone to oversee these matters, develop a reasonable plan, and ensure the effective use of resources." Solomon assured them.
After the meeting, Solomon returned to his quarters, where Lianna was waiting for him.
"How did the meeting go?" Lianna asked, her voice filled with concern.
"It went relatively smoothly. There were some important decisions to be made regarding the family's development, and I'll need to think them through carefully." Solomon replied, sitting down in a chair and rubbing his temples.
"Don't overwork yourself, Solomon. Whatever difficulties arise, we will face them together." Lianna said, walking behind him to gently massage his shoulders.
"With you here, I feel so much better. Lianna, what do you think our future will be like?" Solomon looked up at her.
"I believe that, as long as we work together, our family will rebuild its glory. And we, too, will stay together and live happily." Lianna smiled, her words filled with optimism.
However, just as they were lost in their hopeful dreams for the future, a family guard hurried in, his face pale with alarm.
"Master Solomon, something's wrong! We've found strange footprints near the edge of the family estate. They are identical to the ones left by the mysterious figure in black before!"
Solomon and Lianna exchanged a glance, both their faces clouded with concern. The mysterious figure had appeared again. What was his purpose this time? What threat did he pose to the family? Once again, everything seemed shrouded in uncertainty, leaving them with a lingering sense of unease.
