Mia's POV

My heartbeat quickened as I walked through the moist dark cave that was use for torture wolves who are suspected of committing a crime that can hurt the Pack and it's Alpha.

My mother, who is the Luna of the blood moon Pack, had gone missing two days prior and I had received an anonymous letter with a strange stamp addressed to me. It's contents instructed me to come to the cave of torture if I wanted to see my mother.

I reached the area of the cave where it branched into three directions and I clapped. My heartbeat quickened and I sweat poured down my neck as the echo of the sound of my clapping came back to me.

"This way", a male voice echoed from the left.

A shiver ran down my spine and I felt my heart threaten to burst out through my chest at the familiarity of the voice.

As I reached the end of the trail and entered into the open space of the cave, I came face to face with my uncle holding my mother firmly with a knife placed threateningly at her throat.

Anger banished my fear as my brain processed the scene in front of me, how dare he hold the Luna of the blood moon Pack as though she were a waste from the marketplace.

Fear heightened my senses and I heard an arrow whiz through the air in my direction, I caught it immediately with my claws extended and tossed it to the ground causing the sharp point to stick to the ground.

I looked at my uncle menacingly as he was watching me with an amused look on his face.

"Let. My. Mother. Go."

He frowned and looked as though he were thinking about it before saying,

"For what?"

I raised an eyebrow and before I could react, my legs sunk into the cave ground up to my knees and the earth began to press against me roughly.

I became scared and tears began to form in my eyes.

"Please stop."

He smirked as he knew that he got me.

"Better now, my dear niece."

I looked up at him, I was angry but also realized that the wolf who made me sink into the ground was no other than my personal beta named Promise.

He came from behind me and stopped low to my height looking at me with disgust. I didn't know at that moment if I was scared at the fact that he betrayed me or angry that he didn't keep to the promise he made to my father, the former alpha, to serve him and his descendants faithfully.

"What do you want from me?"I spat.

He smirked, I think at my audacity of still speaking to him even though he could make the cave ground bury me alive.

"It's easy Mia, just do whatever that my master tells you."

"Hah", I scoffed, " You do not live up to your name promise."

He frowned at me wondering what I meant by that.

"Your father must have been high on the water that flowed in the gutter of the streets of the blood moon Pack when he gave you that name- PROMISE."

His face twitched in anger and he gave me a dirty slap and my face moved in the direction of the slap. Something streamed down my face and came to my lips, I licked my lips clean, it was blood.

I turned slowly to look at him as the slap had affected my neck.

"Let me give you an advice Promise, if you fuck Cassandra as hard as you just hit me perhaps you two could bear a son and name him success. Boy it's been fifteen years."

Promise raised his hand to slap me and I tightened my facial muscles for another slap until my uncle spoke

"That's enough", my uncle thundered. He looked impatient and held the knife menacingly at my mother's neck reminding me that he was still there with my mother's life in his hands. I shivered. I didn't know if it was because of the cold cave or because of the situation I and my mother were currently in or perhaps it was both.

Promise stood and walked to my uncle's side.

My uncle smiled as he had gotten my attention.

"Let my mother go."

"For what?", He asked.

I inhaled sharply and felt pain as I did, so I closed my eyes and exhaled gently before opening them again.

"What do you want?"I asked, fearing the answer that I might get.

"It's easy, I want you to give the claim of alpha to me."

My mother, although held roughly by my uncle yelled at me in pain and distress.

"No Mia, don't do it. Let me die."

I felt pain, how could she say such a thing as that, how will I live and lead the Pack knowing that I had a chance to save her but I didn't.

Uncle pressed her ribs tightly and she screamed in pain. She looked pale and was bloodied. What had uncle done to her?

"Your duty is to the Pack and not me."

Uncle laughed and as he did, I felt all the hairs on my body stand up.

I began to cry and in-between my cries, I whispered to myself. "COME. JACK MASON."

There was a sudden drop in temperature and I felt the bones of my body stiffen because of the cold. I looked at my uncle and said,

"I Mia, Alpha Regent of the blood moon Pack, give up the claim of Alpha for three and a half moons to you."

My body shivered violently to the cold as I felt myself slipping out of consciousness.

I saw uncle push my mother to the ground and match with his hand firmly clutched towards me and then everything went black.

As I and Mama travel in a taxi to the Fiery Red Pack, I reflect on the life that I had lived before the events that caused me and Mama to move out of our pack.

I am from the Blood Moon Pack and my father was Alpha until his death. When he died, I was just eighteen. Mama and the elders agreed that I manage the pack together until I was bonded to my mate.

Three years passed and no mate. The members of the Pack started talking and Papa's brother started spreading rumours that since I had no mate I would not be fit to rule the pack.

He was good with his words, I gave him an A plus for that as he swayed the majority to his side, Mama and I had to leave the Pack with help.

The taxi made a stop in front of the house that was arranged by the Pack for us and as I helped mama unload the stuff into the house, I felt a spark, like a shock, a connection that I have never felt before in my entire moon years.

I walked up to an open window and inhaled gently, it was like the scent of earth and rain and a fragrance of the rare jasmine, was I dreaming?

It grew stronger and I could feel my wolf getting excited, it engulfed me and I threw my head back in bliss and closed my eyes.

"Hoonk"

I was startled and almost let my wolf leap out. Who was that son of a dog that disrupted this blissful moment?

"Mia", my mother called.

"Mama", I answered.

"Who are they?", She asked.

"I do not know mama."

She came out of the kitchen and walked to the entrance,I followed suit and when the door was opened, we were met with a tall imposing man who gave off a strong powerful aura and he held a boy who was a splitting image of him firmly by the arm, his son I suppose.

"Mate!", He cooed.

I raised an eyebrow at him and turned to look at mama, the both of us shared knowing looks. So my mate all this while was in another pack. Good one moon goddess.

We sat down at our parlor while they introduced themselves. The tall imposing man is Alpha Kane of the Fiery Red Pack, his Luna is Elissa with beautiful red hair and calming green eyes and their son David, he took his father's looks, build and the only thing I can see that he took from the luna is her eyes.

"It's my eighteenth birthday", he babbled happily, " who would have thought the moon goddess would bless me with a mate who had the fragrance of the moon flower that only grows in the high mountain tops?"

" Beautiful", I said, actually I didn't know what to say, my wolf was excited but somehow I wasn't really happy as I should be as a wolf who just found her mate.

" Father had to restrain me because I was so excited, I even gave directions here."

" Did I really bewitch you?"

He nodded and then asked, " Will you come with us? To the Pack house?"

Alpha Kane frowned and looked at me spitefully. He eyed me from the crown of my head to my toes and scoffed.

" She isn't going anywhere with us, she is an outsider", said Alpha Kane coldly, his eyes narrowed as he looked at me with anger in his eyes.

" Kane, how could you say that?", scolded Luna, " We are supposed to protect and love one another." Luna's hand balled into a fist as she suppressed as she suppressed herself from lashing out at the Alpha who was also her mate.

" She's my mate", yelled David. His voice echoed throughout the room. He looked at his father with angry eyes.

" And also an outsider, a stranger. Remember David the number of disappearances, how many wolves have gone missing in the Pack, we do not know who is behind this."

David frowned as his father said this. He felt hurt.

" Are you trying to say it's my mate, she just arrived"

Alpha Kane sighed softly and spoke in a low tone trying to convince his son to believe what he wanted to say next.

" Our enemies must have connived with her…"

I rolled my eyes and scoffed, cutting him off before he had a chance to continue.

" Of course, they connived with me by divining the moon goddess who told them that I was to be your son's mate and they sent me here to finish you all when we all know that it is not wolfely possible."

" Wolfely possible?", Luna and Mama asked.

I smirked to myself, boy did I just form a new word.

" Mm hmm."

Alpha Kane looked like he was going to explode but I didn't care.

" Either way", I stood up and looked at David, " I don't even want to be bonded to you, you came late."

David grasped his chest and growled in pain and he then fell to the floor as if unconscious with the Alpha and Luna running to his side.
