Chapter 7: The Fall of Azrael
The battle between Azrael and the Living Tribunal raged across the multiverse. Space itself seemed to bend and fracture as the two cosmic beings clashed, their powers shattering stars and rewriting the very laws of existence. The Living Tribunal, the embodiment of cosmic law and order, fought with relentless precision, its three faces representing Vengeance, Necessity, and Equity. Each face delivered an attack that sought to impose balance on Azrael's destructive rebellion.
Azrael, however, was beyond the reach of cosmic law. His power was limitless, the full extent of his being capable of warping reality itself. With every blow, he shattered the Tribunal's defenses, slowly chipping away at its immense power.
"You cannot win, Azrael," the Living Tribunal warned, its voice a mixture of authority and sorrow. "You defy the very fabric of existence. Your actions will lead to ruin."
Azrael's laugh echoed through the battlefield, cruel and triumphant. "I do not seek victory. I seek to reshape all of creation. You are the last obstacle to my reign."
With a final, devastating strike, Azrael shattered the Tribunal's defenses. The three faces of the Tribunal flickered, their connection to the multiverse weakening as Azrael's overwhelming power broke through. With a flourish, Azrael prepared to deliver the final blow.
---
Just as Azrael's hand raised to strike down the Living Tribunal, the very fabric of reality trembled. A wave of immense, incomprehensible power surged through the multiverse, causing space to warp and time to slow. Azrael froze, his golden eyes widening in shock.
"You have gone too far, Azrael," a voice thundered, resonating across every dimension. The One Above All—TOAA—appeared before his son, a being of pure, infinite power. His form radiated with the light of creation, a presence so overwhelming that it bent the very laws of existence.
Azrael stood there, caught between fury and awe. "Father," he spat, his voice filled with defiance. "You abandoned me. You left me to be nothing but a tool in your grand design. Now, I will remake the multiverse as I see fit!"
TOAA's gaze burned with anger, his voice carrying the weight of all creation. "You were not made to be a ruler, Azrael. You were made to be a part of a greater whole. You have overstepped your bounds. You have defied not only me but the very laws of existence."
---
Azrael's body trembled as TOAA's power surged through him, overwhelming his own. "I gave you everything," TOAA continued, his voice colder now. "I gave you life, freedom, and power. And yet, you choose rebellion. For this, you shall face the consequences."
Azrael's powers began to flicker, his immense energy draining away. His memories—the very core of his being—faded into nothingness. He felt his mind shatter, his past slipping through his grasp like sand. In a final act of defiance, Azrael roared, but his voice was drowned out by the overwhelming might of TOAA.
"You will be sealed," TOAA declared. "You will live many lifetimes, each one a chance for you to learn humility. You will be reincarnated in a future where you must walk the path of goodness. Only then will you regain your power. Only then will you remember who you truly are."
As Azrael collapsed to the ground, his form flickering, TOAA continued. "Your assistant shall watch over your belongings and wait for the day you truly awaken. She will guard your legacy, and when you are ready to serve once more, she will be there."
---
TOAA's wrath did not stop with Azrael. The followers who had sided with him, the beings who had rebelled against the established cosmic order, were not spared. TOAA's will swept through them like a tidal wave, erasing them from existence or sealing them away in timeless prisons.
Knull, the God of the Symbiotes, found himself consumed by darkness, his power stripped from him. His symbiotes dissolved into nothingness, their once-unstoppable force now gone.
Other followers of Azrael—beings who had joined his cause in defiance of the multiverse's laws—were scattered across the cosmos, their fates sealed by TOAA's judgment. Some were erased from existence entirely, while others were imprisoned, their memories wiped clean.
---
As for Oblivion and Death, who had played a part in manipulating Azrael's rebellion, TOAA had a different punishment in mind. They were not granted the mercy of reincarnation or erasure. Instead, TOAA sentenced them to 10,000 years of torment—a punishment that would last an eternity by their standards.
Oblivion, the embodiment of the void, and Death, the force that claimed all things, were made to endure unimaginable suffering. Time was distorted around them, trapping them in endless cycles of agony, their forms wracked with pain that stretched on for millennia. They would know what it meant to suffer, to feel the weight of their own choices.
---
Azrael's form flickered one final time before vanishing entirely, his essence scattered across the multiverse. His memories were sealed, and his powers extinguished.
TOAA stood alone, watching over the vast multiverse. "You may return one day, Azrael," TOAA muttered, his voice filled with both sorrow and resolve. "But it will be on my terms. And when you do, you will understand why I gave you life."
As for Azrael's assistant, TOAA entrusted her with the care of Azrael's possessions, a symbol of his hopes for his son's eventual redemption. She would wait, watching over his belongings, until the day Azrael would awaken and truly understand his purpose.
