Starley held her breath. She was speechless for a moment. So her father was a kidnapper?
Starley quickly shook her head. No, her father was different; he was not like Ibrahim. He had indeed raised Starley with love.
"Don't say that, Dad. You're not a criminal," Starley said immediately. Then both of Starley's hands held Harold's hands.
Harold looked at Starley. "Stealing a baby from her mother is still a criminal act in the eyes of the public, my dear."
"But—" Starley's words hung in the air. She couldn't repeat what she had just heard. Meanwhile, Raul looked at Starley with concern.
After a few seconds, Starley finally managed to say it. "But even my biological mother didn't want me. You were just trying to help me."
Starley didn't expect that repeating those words could make her chest feel tight. Unconsciously, the reality hurt Starley quite a bit.
