Is it considered unacceptable to not tell your friends the full truth considering the circumstances for the reason?
Elijah was currently riding in a carriage with his two best friends, or people he considered his best friends while on the way to the Western Hunter Guild. In his previous life, he unfortunately had to let go of friends who were holding him back. People who didn't align with the goals he wanted, the idea of chasing something bigger, and sacrificing habits holding him back. This felt the exact same way, and part of Elijah knew it was something he couldn't control. Bringing up the topic of life outside the walls was not going to happen for some time, as these next four missions before the tournament are going to be difficult. It is best to not create tension between the group.
The trio arrived within the tall walls of the Hunter Guild. Just as always, it was crowded with loads of people, and it was extremely hard to find a place to sit. Older hunters who seemed to be in the magic academy were off from school on a break, and younger junior hunters were scattered around the large room, but mainly looking at the mission board.
The pendants of the trio emitted Emelia's soft voice telling them to come to room 217. The three immediately started walking up the stairs, but Elijah had something he wanted to check out at the back of the guild building.
"Okay, I will see you up there!" Alexia said as she waved.
Elijah walked down the hallway that passed underneath the stairs, and saw the offices where renown hunters stayed. Once at the backside of the hunter building, he walked outside and saw a large concrete area where even more hunters were gathered, as well as disconnected two-story buildings that all had a specific purpose. Potions, clothing & armor, weapons, and magitech.
States were being drawn toward Elijah as this was normally a place where older and more experienced hunters congregated. There was a mission board directly to the left of the door that hung underneath a small pergola. Thank goodness everyone saw him as a nobody, however, he was surprised by the stares as he thought this kingdom did not have many haters. A kingdom that prioritized health was destined to have healthy mindsets.
The building that Elijah walked to was the weapon building that did not look small once he realized how organized it was. The line was short, and Elijah greeted the supposed smith once he approached. "Hello good sir, I am here looking for something specific."
"Oh, and what may that be?" The brown haired man asked.
"A sharp and durable sword, but one that is short."
"Ah, I will grab as many options as I can for you."
A large cloth was rolled across the stone counter, and eight swords that all had different lengths were revealed. A couple swords caught his attention.
A simple and straight sword with a sharp edge that met at the tip was held with a thick leather handle, and had a four-point star-shaped hilt with complicated patterns. The end had the same star but was small and gave the bottom a blunt end. This short sword would fit his needs exactly, but still, there were others. Not to mention, Elijah only had about twenty five silver coins on him. A sword crafted this expertly could cost him at least five gold coins.
Another simple black sword with a larger hilt, leather handle, and the same shape as the previous caught his attention, and also very simple with no complicated designs or metal work. All in all, nothing was special while every simple detail fit Elijah's needs. "What is the price of this one?"
"Three gold coins young sir."
That was what he expected. "Would you be able to save this sword for me as I get the money? I will be back later today to purchase it."
"Hmmm, this sword isn't very popular due to the length, so why not. I will package it up in a cloth and write your name on it. What is your name, young one?"
"Elijah Veran." The two agreed of the circumstances and the swords were quickly brought away along with his new sword that was wrapped in a smaller piece of cloth, and set underneath the stone counter. Elijah bid his farewell, and rejoined his friends in room 215.
Aslan asked Elijah with a simple question. "Are you ready for tomorrow?"
"Yes, I have just reserved a new sword that I will purchase later today. Is that the map of the Kappa chasm?" Elijah asked while pointing at the table.
"Yes. We have already gone through everything, and since you are pretty smart Elijah, I will summarize it. Don't worry, we will look it over before we leave tomorrow." Aslan said. "We of course go to Nova40 before we depart, however, we are not going to waste time by going up the ziplines this time. The cave is relatively close to the entrance to Nova40, and the first cavern is a dark one with puddles everywhere. There won't be any kappa's in this area, but in the next cavern, a cavern with a lake that comes from the whirlpool, will be where a lot of kappa's will be hanging out. There is a steep cliff to get into that lake which is why they rarely walk into nova40. I reckon it will take us an hour to clear the lake of kappa's. It is much bigger than you think, and has the same stone pillars in nova40, the only difference is that they are not made from us, but natural supports that have been reinforced with metal. If the cavern were to cave in from a sloppy mage, lots of people would die."
Elijah raised his hand with a question. "Where does the water from the lake come from?"
"There is a pretty large hole in the ceiling where the water from the whirlpool funnels in. Not many people have been into that hole, but there are no beasts there, probably only a really good view as it is brightly lit by tons of greenery. The lake is also lit by tons of greenery, but the main source of light comes from the glowing lake filled with glowing algae and plants at the bottom and on the surface. What comes after the lake is going to be the true test. The lake creates a waterfall in a huge chasm with a drop of over six hundred feet. This chasm has wooden and stone bridges and staircases littered all over the place, and obviously takes a long time to get all the way down. What is going to allow us to do it quicker than anyone of our core level is the strategy we implement. If we simply pushed off all of the kappas, they would instantly die if we somehow found a way to create a solid surface at the bottom of the cave. The only reason why they can survive is they instinctively surround themselves with water. This is also without them grabbing onto a ledge or bridge when falling."
Elijah took in all the information while different possibilities went through his head.
