Chapter 50 - Uncalled for Additions

The moment Elijah said those words, the wind near the boy's hand stirred. However, his plan from the start had been to intimidate these people, not to anger them, and to make them remember and forget about him. A seemingly harmless amount of mana escaped Elijah's finger, and made its way to the boy's left hand that was completely still. A small portion of space split between the last knuckle of the boy's pinky finger, as well as two other fingers mistakenly fell to the floor.

Thump.

At first no one recognized what happened, until his friends behind him saw blood spilling from his hand. "Cael! Your fingers!"

Cael jumped back and felt a pain coming from his hand. His all white clothing was splattered with blood once he clutched his hand. "What did you do?!!"

"I'm a water mage, do you really think I could chop off your finger?" Elijah quickly walked out of the washroom while thinking of the potential consequences of his actions. There was a possibility that this would come back to him, however, nothing would point to him as the perpetrator.

"I wish I knew the last name of that guy…"

Elijah caught a carriage back to the Weltor Estate. The household was gathered in the large living room while observing the sight of George's new invention.

"…which is the reason why I created this alongside other powerful mages. We will be able to produce more food without lessening the quality!" George pronounced.

Elijah started walking up the stairs after he heard what he needed to hear. Elijah mistakenly cut off more fingers than he wanted to, and realized there might be a limit to how precise his magic can get at his core level. The question was, would getting to the Orange core stage solve this problem? Once at the Orange core stage, would there be any magical limits besides the power of his mana? What would be the qualitative change of becoming a yellow core mage?

Elijah had a feeling that the people in the kingdom were not using magic to its limits, and instead relying on basic applications of that element. With curiosity flowing through his kind. Elijah raised his right hand, and tried to conjure a sphere of manipulated space from the mana in his body. The spell worked, however, when he tried to disfigure the sphere of space, the sphere slightly trembled with resistance.

Currently, I have the ability to manipulate the space by creating small and simplistic one-sided shapes. If I wanted to create a polygon shape, or a Customized shape I thought of with my head, it wouldn't be possible. This is another limit of my mana core.

Elijah took out both his black knife and short sword, and took a fighting stance. His dagger was in his left hand, and his short sword was in his right. This doesn't feel too bad, but is extremely limiting on my magic especially when I don't have my special shoes yet.

Swift swipes were taken that broke through the air, as well as stabbing motions as Elijah switched the position the knife was in. Concentrating on the small breaks between motions, he sent mana to the environment to erect a spatial barrier as a way to test how possible it was to have a close combat battle style while still wielding magic. Maybe if he had an orange or yellow core, the time it took for the environment to be affected would be shorter. While this was a good learning experience, Elijah knew he couldn't casually use environmental space magic in front of the eyes of the public. His idea would be to combine his space magic with water magic to give it more attack power, while also keeping the space affinity hidden. This won't raise as many flags.

A full and uneventful day passed. The morning was filled with packing as this mission would take longer than expected. Elijah once again had carried the water in his spatial storage, while Novius carried the biltong.

The party met at the Western Hunter Guild building, and was surprised by the turn of events. There were two more hunters of the same core level, and two of the orange core level joining them on this mission.

"Who allowed this to happen?" Elijah asked Aslan while not sounding too angry, did this have something to do with yesterday?

"It was my father. And I am not complaining, we now have two earth mages, one more fire mage, and another air mage." Aslan replied with a dull smile on his face.

"So where are they then?"

"They will meet us in the carriage. I have the two maps on me, So when we split into separate carriages, we can all refresh our memories. However, My father split us into groups of two from the very start, and told us to stay in these groups. You are with Harry, Theon, Alexia, Trey, and Damir."

Trey? Elijah recognized this name! If this is who he thinks he is, this mission will go more smoothly than usual. Elijah's dismay came from him not being able to fully use his space ability, but this is a perfect time to become more familiar with combining his affinity.

Elijah casually conversated with the party who was standing next to a group of couches that were already taken. The loud chatter of the building caused everyone to talk a little bit louder than usual. Alexia's hair wove back and forth as she removed a string of hair from her face. Emelia's high pitched voice seemed like it was just a little loud as she talked to her cousin Harry.

The party split off into their groups and walked to the large open carriages that were ready for them in the u-shaped cobblestone road. After sitting in the carriage for over five minutes, Elijah felt a slight wobble while reviewing the map, and noticed the familiar head of hair. "Trey?"

"Oh, Elijah. It's you." Trey responded with a dull tone.

Trey ended up not saying much which made Elijah feel as though something was wrong. However, when the next person stepped into the carriage with confidence, Elijah blatantly stared at the boy while keeping his emotions in check.

"You must be Elijah, my name is Damir Redcliffe, I hope we can get along on this mission." A cheap, sadistic, and fake smile was seen on the man's face as he stook out his hand.

"Yes, I am Elijah, It is a pleasure to meet you, and I hope we can all complete this mission without losing any lives." Elijah matched his energy. This man was someone in the washroom with Cael! Is this a coincidence, or something else?

The carriage roughly moved down the slope leading to The Catacombs. Chatter was constant as everyone was learning the different styles everyone used to kill beasts. Trey liked to sit with the backliner to prevent any surprise attacks from behind, while Damir liked to play close up with his wide range of fire attacks. And after stepping out of the carriage, the two other mages shifted into his view. The other earth mage's name was Fredric, who was the first to step out of the carriage, while the last, was another familiar face whom Elijah deemed dangerous from his last encounter. Cael!

"Haha! Who knew I would be seeing you on this mission!" The black hair and gray-eyed boy brushed past the shoulder of Elijah, and grouped up with Damir.
