Chereads / Rita's Unseen Destiny. / Chapter 3 - The Job Hunt.

Chapter 3 - The Job Hunt.

The next day, Rita packed all her belongings and set off to another city to start a new life. Her father had given her the address to her auntie's house. When she arrived, she knocked at the door and was welcomed by her aunt with a warm smile on her face and a tight hug. She met her cousins, Pearl and Jackie.

The room was filled with stories and laughters brought by Rita. Everyone at home was excited by her presence. She enjoyed every bit of the stories they shared together, she felt loved in the new home and enjoyed her new beginnings in a new home of comfort that she had newly joined.

After all these wonderful moments together, Rachael held Rita's hand and led her to her bedroom where she would be sleeping. Pearl and Jackie too helped her to carry her belongings to the room she was allocated to sleep in. When she reached her room, she admired its size. It was a big bedroom with big windows. It had a fine painting with a king-sized bed which was already laid for her.

Rachael welcomed her once again and said, "Rita, this is your bedroom, welcome home and feel comfortable." Rita replied with a hug," Thanks a lot, aunt, for everything you have done for me today." Her aunt replied to her," You're my daughter too Rita when your mum was going to give birth in the hospital to you, I was the first to hold you in my arms.

Your dad was taken up by work, and so he was away on a work trip, so it was me who took care of your mum in the hospital. So I am still responsible for your well-being, my dear, and am happy that you choose to stay with me in the difficult situations of your life.

And I promise to always be there for you and help you out where there is a need. At that moment, they left her alone in the room to organize her belongings she had come with.

When morning came, Rita had to go downstairs to have breakfast with her new family. At Rachael's home, breakfast was taken early in the morning at seven thirty A. M. They all sat together at the same time and the breakfast was served by Miss Braxton Janet, who was Rachael's housekeeper.

As they had their breakfast, Rachael told Rita that she would be leaving for work soon and Pearl and Jackie, too, would be going to school together with her. She added and said, we shall come back in the evening. So I will be leaving you with Miss Braxton and Rocky. Rocky was a dog that Rachel had taken to her house as a pet.

Rocky was good at taking walks and exploring nature. So Rachael told Rita, "If your bored at home, you can take Rocky with you and take some walks around the city." So that you can get used to the environment and the people around you. Rita, in return, replied to her aunt and said, Thanks aunt, I will take a walk if I am bored at home. After breakfast, Rachael and her two daughters moved out of the house

Rachael had her own vehicle which she drove by herself. She used it to take her daughters to school, go shopping, road trips and go for vacations within her country. So the vehicle was a necessity in her home because of the cost her family spent on private means.

Rachael, together with her daughters, entered the car, and she drove away to school, dropped her daughters at their various schools and drove back to her work.

Rita was now left alone at home with Miss Braxton. She felt some loneliness since she was not used to Miss Braxton and, besides, she was someone in her early fifties. So Rita had a few stories to share with her. Soon after, Rita joined her in the kitchen and helped to clean the dishes and organize the kitchen in order.

She later on went to her bedroom. When she was in her room, she noticed that there was a need for her to search for a job on the Internet. She picked her laptop from her bag, placed it on her bed, and started to search for a job being advertised online by different hiring companies that advertised their jobs online.

As she continued exploring and searching for jobs, she applied in many cafés who were hiring waitresses and that was the only job she could manage to do, because she loved people and she had a heart of humanity. She last applied in the vintage themed café. A vintage themed café was near Rachael's home and it was a walkable distance. So she was happy to find their advert online, and she thought to herself how she wished she had gotten hired.

As the day went by, Rita had a nap after eating her lunch. When she woke up she realized it was already evening. Her cousin sisters were back home and her aunt. They had dinner together at six P. M. After dinner, Pearl and Jackie went to their room to do some readings of their notes in preparation for tomorrow's lessons at school and also to finish their assignments they were given at school to do from home.

Rita, too, left her room and spent her evening watching movies from her phone, since she had no sleep. As she continued watching movies she started dosing off. She then got up and switched the lights off and slept.

When Rita woke up in the morning, she found that Rachel and her cousins rita and Jackie had already gone to school. On that day, Rita had woken up late, at ten A.M. No one woke her up because they knew, as a pregnant mother, she needed enough rest. She then went to the kitchen, served herself breakfast and sat alone at the dining table.

As soon as she finished eating her breakfast, her phone rung with an unknown number being displayed on the screen. As she thought about whether to pick the call or not, she remembered that she had applied for jobs online and expected phone calls from those hiring companies.

She picked up the call and heard the male voice saying, Hello. Good morning madam, am I talking to Rita? Rita replied and said, Yes, you're talking to Rita. He said," I am Fernando Justine. I am a receptionist for a vintage-themed café. You will be having an interview next week on Tuesday at ten A. M. You were among the lucky fifty candidates who have qualified for the interview.

If you have any questions to ask me, you can go ahead and ask. Rita had no questions. She was filled with happiness and a morning surprise. She thanked Mister Fernando for contacting her and assured him that she would keep time for the interview. When evening came, Rita told her aunt and cousins about her invitation for the interview on the phone call that morning. They were all excited for her and congratulated her on having her first step taken.

As days went by, Rita enjoyed her aunt's company together with her cousins. On that weekend, Rachael took them shopping in food stores and also in malls. They shopped all the food items which were needed to push them for the whole week and also missing items need to be used at home like soap, detergents and many more others. Rita enjoyed the shopping since it was her first time to shop in the city with her new family. She meets new malls, food stores and new people around her. After the shopping, Rachael drove back to her family's home.

It was Tuesday morning when Rita woke up very early to prepare for the interviews. She dressed up in office dressware. She stood in front of the mirror to see how she would stand before the interview with confidence and also see if her dress was good enough for her first interview. As she admired how smart she was, she applied some makeup on her face and she went to face the interview.

Since it was a walkable distance from home, Rita was already at a vintage-themed café at nine fifty A.M. in the morning. On arrival, she went to the reception, greeted the receptionist and inquired where the waiting area for candidates who had been invited for interviews was. She was led by the receptionist to the reception where the rest of her candidates were sitting waiting to be interviewed.

Mister Patrick Carlson was the hiring manager for a vintage-themed café. He was responsible for the interview and his assistant, Raul Jefferson. They only needed two people since they had advertised for only two posts. Out of fifty candidates, only thirty-five candidates came for the job interviews. Fifteen candidates were unable to make it to the job interviews.

As they waited for the job interviews to start, Mister Patrick Carlson together with his assistant passed by and entered their office. They had some discussions among themselves about the interview. Thereafter, they went outside, greeted the candidates and did self-introductions and also told them how each person would be called to enter inside to be interviewed. They also told them that the qualified candidates for the job would be contacted through an email and phone call to start work. They all understood the procedures.

All the thirty-five candidates were interviewed. Rita happened to be among the last five candidates. When Rita entered the room, she handed her documents in the file to the hiring manager to review. Her documents were satisfactory with a good virtual curriculum and a good family background.

She was asked a few questions, and she showed a sense of confidence and braveness in herself. Her face was bright with a smile as she answered the questions. Some answers were funny and interesting, which made the hiring manager and his assistant smile and laugh. The whole thing was so interactive and fun. So when her interview got done she was allowed to go out.
