Sixteen years ago.
Abaddon had just sent one of his demons, Momodaeus, to fetch his daughter for him. Baselroth, having received her father's summon, decided to head straight to Oxlock. It was in her best interest not to keep her father waiting, for he was an impatient man. Momodaeus accompanied her to a secluded area. With nobody watching, they took the only route that led to Oxlock by magically sinking into the ground. The floor which they descended through didn't have any holes, yet they just passed through it as if it was a normal thing.
They'd both sunk waist deep into the snowflakes covered ground when Momodaeus said, "Hey, Baselroth."
"What is it?" Baselroth asked, shooting him a glance before she was buried neck deep.
"You still haven't told me what you were doing in the backyard of that couple's house."
"I told you before, it's none of your business!"
"I will find out sooner than later," Momodaeus said calmly, and Baselroth gritted her teeth.
Suddenly they appeared in a shadowy place. Both of them were standing on a thin, long walkway. There were several other steep interconnected walkways. Far below them the ground was covered in molten lava, steep rocks and burning flames. The souls of the damned cried out for help as they burned, as they passed through brimstones and worms, working their way through their bodies with teeth sharp enough to cut their bones in preparation for them to become demons. At the farthest end of the steep interconnected walkways Baselroth could see the facade of the large castle where she lived. Its walls stretched several feets wide and fire torches were evenly spaced out surrounding the top of the wall all the way to their ends.
"I hope you aren't planning on coming along with me to see my father?" Baselroth said with a thin smile. "I don't recall you saying he summoned both of us."
"He didn't," Momodaeus said. "I'll return to my station at once."
"Atta boy!" Baselroth said, excitement flooding her voice. "Say hi to Maze for me."
"You can come tell her that yourself."
"Ah, you know I barely hang out with lower demons, plus it's a filth down there." Baselroth peered down and shook her head.
"Lower demons?" Momodaeus repeated, scoffing as he did a free fall to the rocky molten lava below.
"Someday, you'll lose your ability to fly!" Baselroth said and Momodaeus stuck out his middle finger at her. She watched him float down as if he had an invincible parachute and he landed perfectly on one of the rocks.
Baselroth sighed walking away briskly towards the castle. The demon guards at the castle's gate bowed once they saw her, and two of them lowered the gates for her to go through. A growling sound caught her attention causing her to shift her gaze to the beast which offered the growl. It looked like a lion, had the head of a cape buffalo, and two giant wings.
"Sit down Kava!" Baselroth barked and the beast obeyed immediately.
Inside the castle was grand. It looked exactly like a modern day house with living rooms, bedrooms, kitchen, study, library, music room, attic, basement…
Baselroth sensed that her dad was in the music room, and she turned different corners to locate the place, passing a few workers as she did, and they bowed to her in acknowledgement. She found Abaddon, her father, seated on a round stool. He had been hunched over the grand piano playing some soft music notes. He paused, turning to face her with this scowling look he had etched on his face permanently.
"Papa, you requested to see me," Baselroth said, casually. She sat on a stool beside him with a sigh.
"Is there something you need to tell me?" Abaddon asked in a smooth voice.
"I don't follow," Baselroth replied. "I thought you sent for me because you needed to tell me something."
Abaddon continued playing the piano as he spoke, "You've been going Felfili and Wollington a lot lately and I am just wondering why. Are you having friends amongst the humans and lycans now?"
Baselroth scoffed wryly. "Friends? I don't even roll enough with my kind let alone those pesky beings. You know I detest them papa. For now, I just enjoy going up there to have a change of scenery. It's just a phase, it will pass."
"A change of scenery? Gosh, you sound just like your mother. Henceforth, I don't want you going up there alone, okay?"
"What? Are you doubting me?"
"This isn't about doubt," Abaddon snapped. "I just don't like you being so far away on your own. Demon hunters are out there."
"I can take care of them myself," Baselroth argued. "I'm not just any demon! I'm the demon of seduction!"
"Eh, fine! Suit yourself."
Baselroth smiled, standing up. "So is that all?"
"Yeah, uh, no! Momodaeus-"
"Don't father!" Baselroth cuts him. "Momodaeus is a low ranking demon from where I stand. I can't get married to him."
"Fine, then pick one of my generals! I have nine of them."
"Exactly," Baselroth replied sweetly. "You have nine generals and uh, it's so difficult to choose from. I need more time."
"Well hurry up and make a choice. I need a male demon within my bloodline and you are the only one that can give him to me."
"And I will, when it's due time."
Baselroth stormed out of the music room and headed straight for her bedroom. Once inside the pulch bedroom, she flopped onto her fluffy bed, shutting her eyes in frustration. Demons could only have one child. Her father had given birth to her and she would give birth to a male and her son would eventually give birth to a female, just like that… but the thing was that she'd already given birth to a child. She thought about Rademos, her son, and how she had to hide him from her father because he was going to be an abomination to him.
Suddenly, Baselroth heard her name as if the person who had called her was standing right next to her. Finally, Cinzel, Rademos' father, had reached out to her. She had a lot to tell him but in the meantime she had chosen not to answer him since she was angry.
