"Which one should I pick.."I muttered as I observed the Quest board, littered with various Quests, in front of me.
{ Subdue a group of bandits harassing merchants in Onibus Town . 20,000 Jewels }
{ Safeguard a merchant caravel to Bosco. 60,000 Jewels }
{ Subdue a Pirate that have been harassing the Port Town, Hargeon. 160,000 Jewels }
'Yeah, I don't think old man Makarov is gonna let me take most of the Quests.' I skimmed through the searching for a good starter.
Even if I am strong enough to take on the Jobs Makarov wouldn't allow me to take these quests, as experience and safety concerns are valid enough reasons.
'Speaking of strength.' I recalled my encounter and bout with a certain Dragon Slayer.

Flashback
[ Fire Dragon's Iron Fist]
I watched as the flames swirled around Natsu's fist, before letting out another flurry of punches.
I carefully weaved through the punch, making sure to not let those punches touch me.
"Stop Dodging!!"Natsu shouted as he tried to hit me.
"Fine then."I muttered, preparing my spell.
[Wood Style: Great Tree Spear]
Several thick roots emerged from the ground, all of them headed towards Natsu, who jumped backwards to dodge them.
Just then I spotted a gap in his defence, I immediately rushed towards him, using [Magic Burst] , surprising him.
I closing the distance, uppercutted Natsu sending him flying into the air. He immediately engulfed his hands in flames, creating a fiery explosion

[Wood Style: Tree Shroud]
A blanket of thick wooden structure covered me, protecting me from the fire.
"Finally, Got you."I heard a voice coming from ahead.
Not wasting time, I immediately prepared another spell as the shroud broke apart, at my will.
[ Wood Style: Giant Forest Jutsu ]
My arm started to turn into trees, rapidly growing, lengthening at high speed and forking into many branches all of which headed towards the resident Dragon Slayer, binding him as he struggled to break out.
[ Fire Dragon Ro-]
Before he could release his breath attack, I made one of the branch close his mouth shut, as I yanked him towards the ground.
"Hey!!Get me out of this!!"Natsu shouted as he tried to get out of the wooden binding that slowly drained his magic power.
"I believe I have won, right?Old man??"I looked towards the my guild master who seemed, somewhat, shocked by the outcome.
I looked around to see all of the spectators having the same shocked expression if not, more.
"Did he just beat Natsu?"A certain white hair girl murmured.
"I don't believe it…"
"You are kidding me!!That pyro lost!!"The resident stripper, I mean resident ice mage exclaimed.

Before long I finally found an ideal job request to start of my journey.

'A good enough job with a good pay.' I took the job request off the Quest Board.'The only question is whether he will allow it or not.'
I headed towards where Makarov was, who seemed to be drinking as usual.
"Oh, have you finally decided on a quest?"Makarov looked at me, diverting his attention form the mug in his hand.
"Yeah, I think I should be able to do this without a hitch."I handed over the quest flyer to him.
"Hmm..It certainly seems to be something within your pay grade."Makarov said scratching his chin.
"I can sense a but coming."
"I want to assign a mage to you, to help you get accustomed to jobs and quests."Makarov nodded his head, looking at me."I hope you don't mind that."
"I don't mind."I shrugged, which caused him to raise his brows."What?"
"I just thought you would want to go on the mission by yourself, especially since it's your first quest."He continued to look at me incredulously.
"One of the first lessons Gramps taught me was to never overestimate myself."I snorted at his words."To have pride and ego but to not let those things blind me, to forever uphold my ideals and words."
Makarov chuckled at my words, before taking a sip from his mug.
"It seems he hasn't changed a bit."He muttered nostalgically.
"Erza come here for a moment!!"He immediately shouted drawing everyone's attention.
' What?' I thought, clearly shocked by the turn of event. 'I don't mind someone tagging along, but that someone being Erza…'
All the memories of me watching Fairy tail, although limited, flashed before my eyes.
Erza Scarlet very strict person, often criticizing the bad behavior and habits of the other guild members, causing most of them to apologize, fearing that they might invoke her wrath.
Hearing Makarov's words the redhead in question, started making her way towards us, giving me a questioning look before stopping.
"Did you need something of me master?"
"Yes.I wanted to go along with Ars here on his first mission and teach him about the ins and outs of accepting a quest."He said pointing at me.
"Poor guy having Erza tag along on his first mission."
"I pity the kid."
I continued to hear faint pitying mumbling from all around, though none daring to say it out loud.

The term Quest and Job requests are basically the same.
And as for Erza following along, there is no way Makarov would let a rookie go on a their first request, unsupervised.
