Chapter 49: Becoming a Guest of Paradise Island
Outside Norton's cave, three guests arrived: Diana, her mother Hippolyta, and Hippolyta's younger sister, Antiope. Norton knew them well. "Your Excellency Norton, welcome to Paradise Island. I must admit, I am quite disappointed," said Hippolyta, demonstrating her unique temperament as the queen of Paradise Island.
Diana looked at her mother in disbelief. Shouldn't it have been reasonable to dispatch Amazon warriors to capture the intruder? What she didn't know was that the warriors had already been dispatched but returned in defeat. Even Norton was a bit surprised, having only intended to show his strength. It was unexpected for the Queen of Paradise Island to come to him in person.
"Your Majesty, there's no need for that. To Paradise Island, I am indeed an intruder. It is my fault for coming here uninvited. I just want to leave as soon as possible." Norton hadn't thoroughly researched the Space Gem yet, and though he wasn't afraid, the landlord of this place had come looking for him.
"I hope you will consider becoming a mentor to Diana. Paradise Island will be responsible for any supplies you need while you are here." Upon hearing this, Diana and Antiope had different reactions. Diana was very happy, knowing that she could see Norton every day and also learn his unique skills. However, Antiope's expression was a bit unpleasant; she hadn't witnessed Norton's strength firsthand and was unhappy that he might take away her student.
Norton sighed inwardly. He didn't want to leave Paradise Island so easily; he desired to leave the dangerous world of the DC Universe entirely. "I... Fine, I promise you," Norton agreed. He was concerned that they might come to harass him in the future, and he didn't want to harm a group of women. Accepting the request would provide him a peaceful environment.
"Then it's settled, Your Excellency, please follow me," said Hippolyta, stepping aside to let him pass. She believed that under Norton's tutelage, Diana could become stronger and protect herself effectively.
"Well, this is the first time I've been watched by so many women, and I feel a little shy." Norton was escorted into the palace by Hippolyta and announced as an important guest of Paradise Island. Along the way, a group of women curiously observed him. Even Norton's thick skin couldn't help but feel a little self-conscious under their gaze.
Hippolyta noticed this and nodded in secret satisfaction. At least Norton did not harbor evil intentions against her Amazon people, which pleased her greatly.
On the first day of work, Antiope and Diana led Norton to the training grounds where the Amazon female warriors practiced. "Prove it to me," Antiope said, approaching Norton with a sword in hand and offering it to him.
Hippolyta recognized him, but Antiope did not. There was only one thing that convinced her, and that was power. Norton accepted the sword helplessly. It was a classic trial stage. Did those female warriors fall in love with him after he defeated their general? Norton made a little joke in his heart.
"Drink!" Antiope held another sword and slashed at Norton. Norton calmly stretched out his fingers and held the blade firmly.
"This..." Antiope glanced at Norton in surprise. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't withdraw the sword from his hand.
Seeing the situation was at a stalemate, Norton took the initiative to release the sword and retreated a few steps away. Antiope decided to throw away the sword and directly raised her fists to hit Norton. In Norton's eyes, Antiope's fist speed seemed as though it was slowed down, making it easy for him to lean forward and dodge her punches.
Although the Amazon female warriors had extraordinary physiques, they appeared somewhat unimpressive to Norton. They seemed like a female version, a slightly weakened version of the country's captain.
"Bang!" Norton stopped dodging and caught Antiope's fist. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't withdraw her fist.
Antiope raised her leg and attempted to knee Norton in the abdomen, but it did not cause any real damage. To Norton, it felt like a ball of cotton hitting his body.
"Is it enough to prove my strength?" Norton felt very tired. She was not a villain, but a woman, and he didn't bother to make a move as she was really weak compared to him.
Both of them let go of their hands, but Antiope clearly did not agree with him. "It's not enough, just dodging and brute force can't convince me."
Norton touched his chin and thought for a while, then said, "How about this, if you can't catch my move, will you let me pass?"
"Okay, it's decided."
Norton placed his palm on Antiope's abdomen. Antiope frowned slightly, wondering what kind of move could make her lose. But Norton thought differently. How would he control his strength to complete the test without seriously injuring Antiope?
"Boom!"
"Oh!" Antiope felt a huge force from her abdomen, causing her to fly back a few meters, and she clutched her abdomen in pain.
Norton heaved a sigh of relief. At least she didn't vomit blood; otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to stay peacefully on this paradise island.
