Luna gives Rhea a long, slow blink. "You're on the run? Why? Did something happen?"
Rhea sighs. "Yeah. After you left, a bunch of weird people started showing up. One of them even tried to grab me. When I managed to get to my room, I overheard Dad threatening them. They said they wanted to take me away, so I ran."
Luna raises an eyebrow. "Wait, wait, wait—why would me leaving cause those people to show up and threaten to take you?"
Rhea shrugs, frustration and fear evident in her voice. "I don't know! It was terrifying! They were threatening everyone! I overheard one of them saying they might have to kill me if I didn't comply, so I ran for it!"
Luna, now visibly confused, crosses her arms. "Are they after me or you? I was told people would be after me, but I guess it helps that I'm constantly on the run with my group. It probably makes it harder to track me. Plus, where I live is supposedly off the grid."
Rhea glances out the window, scanning the area. "I saw a black van following me earlier, so I started driving. I pulled into this gas station, and that's when I spotted you with your group."
Sunny lets out a massive sigh, grabbing her revolver as she opens the RV door. Peeking outside, she sees two men in suits questioning JJ and Jamal. One of them suddenly shoves Jamal, and JJ immediately swings at the man, knocking him out cold.
Before anyone can react, two more men in suits step out of their van, both drawing pistols. However, before they can fire, their hands suddenly go limp, and their weapons clatter to the ground.
Priscilla steps forward, casually waving her hand in front of them. The men's expressions turn blank, almost drone-like.
"You will leave now and tell your boss that you couldn't find your target—or targets. Got it?" she says with a pleasant smile.
The men nod in unison. One of them grabs their unconscious companion, dragging him back into the van before speeding off without another word.
Rhea's jaw drops. "What... What was that!?"
Luna chuckles. "That woman? That's Priscilla, the daughter of Dracula. So, the fact that she can do something like that makes sense."
Rhea quickly turns to Luna, eyes wide. "Wait... Dracula's real!?"
Luna nods. "Yep. At first, none of this made sense to me either, but I've kind of just accepted everything as fact now."
Rhea slumps into the couch. "Oh, I see... Well, I don't have any powers or an all-powerful vampire with me, so I don't know what to do!"
Luna looks at Sunny with a sad expression.
"If you want, you could live with us," Sunny offers.
Rhea blinks in surprise. "I—uh—are you sure? I'm not a fighter exactly, but I do have medical experience. I could help out as a nurse. I was going to school to be a doctor, but… well, then the whole fight happened, and yeah. I was only a year away, too..."
Sunny smiles. "Well, that's good. At least you can earn your keep. However, I'll teach you how to fire a gun—just in case."
Rhea looks at her, still shocked by how quickly this woman is willing to let her stay. "A-Are you sure?"
Sunny shrugs. "You don't seem like a bad person to me. And also, Luna didn't kill you on sight, so that must mean she doesn't hate you. She can exist around you, so it shouldn't cause any issues."
Rhea raises an eyebrow as she notices Sunny's eye briefly change color, but she decides not to ask any questions about it—for now.
Luna smiles. "So, uh, other than being on the run, how have you been?"
Rhea quickly looks at Luna. "Oh, uh, pretty good—other than being hunted. Some of my friends were willing to let me stay with them. Um… how about you?"
Luna's face turns a bit somber. "Well, after I ran away, I was homeless. Then I found Sunny, so everything got way better!"
Rhea pulls Luna in for another hug, trying to comfort her. "I'm so sorry you had to go through that."
Luna is shocked. She nearly breaks down in tears but instead leans into the hug, enjoying the warmth from her sister.
Rhea breaks the hug and gives her a reassuring smile. "Like I said, I'm happy that you're safe. However… Mom really wants you dead now. Still, being on the run has been something..."
Luna shrugs. "Yeah, I imagine it would be pretty scary."
Rhea shakes her head. "Well, I mean, you've always been a pretty good fighter, so even if someone wanted to harm you, it wouldn't be easy."
Luna looks a bit shocked. "I—uh—well, I mean, I'm not that good. There are way better fighters out there."
Rhea chuckles. "Jeez, you're still so modest. You really hate flaunting your accomplishments. Then again, if more people had been willing to give you a chance, you probably would've been a top student at some university. But instead, you hunt monsters now. Do you enjoy it?"
Luna looks confused by the question. "I don't know… I mean, I kind of like fighting. When I'm in battle, it feels natural for me to be there. So, yeah, I guess I like fighting. But if a monster wanted a second chance, I'd definitely give it to them—as long as they truly promised to turn over a new leaf."
Rhea smiles, seeing that her sister is still a good person. "That makes me happy. This feels good—actually having a conversation with you without someone glaring at me just for talking to you."
And so, with a new member added to their group, the journey to Mexico continues!
