POV Azula
I looked up towards my father standing above me, palm facing me, a small flame hanging over it. It was as if time stood still, I could see the anger in his eyes the way that they looked down on me. As if I was nothing. Then the world lit up in flames and everything went black again.
"Ahhhh" I screamed, waking up, out of instinct I threw fire out in front of me hitting the wall leaving a large scorch mark.
The headache hit immediately after, curling up I held my head hoping that the pressure on it would make the pain go away.
"Miss are you alright"
Hearing the voice I rolled falling off the edge of the bed, quickly catching myself and rising into the best bending stance I could manage trying not to throw up from the ongoing headache. Standing near the scorch mark was an elf whose appearance was quite beautiful.
"Who are you?" I asked, narrowing my eyes and clenching my teeth wary of the unexpected visitor.
She curtsied answering "I am Faunalyn, I was assigned to attend to you by Tower Master Callum"
"Why are you here?"
She gestured to the still filled food trays "Right now I am here to clean this up, then I will return to play some music"
Scophing I said "Music?"
"I am a minstrel, my entire class is centered around playing music"
"So you are weak"
The elfs eyes went cold at that, as she observed as I was barely maintaining my stance. She took out a small flute and brought it to her lips. Before she could play, I punched out two fingers sending a stream of red fire at her, unexpectedly a pink barrier surrounded her as she began to play.
"I apologize in advance miss"
"What?" I asked confused at the apology.
The elf then began to play a slow tune and as the music reached my ears, I couldn't keep my footing any longer and I collapsed. Soon after the world went black as I passed out, from exhaustion or the music I couldn't tell.
At some point my eyes fluttered open, I was back in the bed covered in blankets. For the first time since the accident I had a dreamless sleep. The headache hit, making me bring my hands to my head, then my stomach rumbled in hunger from having eaten very little. Taking a breath I smelt and tasted food. Looking up I saw that the multitude of filled trays were gone, their place was one with some bread sitting on it and a cup of water.
More out of instinct than desire to eat I grabbed the bread and started biting into it taking as much into my mouth as I could manage.
Coughing from eating too much I grabbed the glass of water quickly downing it in just a few gulps. Then I continued to eat what was left of the bread.
A pair of hands came into my vision holding a tablecloth, grabbing it and I began to clean my face.
"I would suggest taking a bath miss"
Looking up I hadn't even realised the elf was standing there.
"What?" I asked, trying to remember what she said.
"I would suggest you take a bath, with the amount of filth on you it can't smell good and you don't want to get sick"
I gave her a scowl but stood up anyway's "Where is it?"
"Follow me, I already had one prepared"
"You knew I would go?" I asked with anger.
"Now of you denied I would have knocked you out again and taken you myself"
I paused at that, back in the fire nation her bluntness and threats would have gotten her some lashings but we were not in the fire nation. I also knew from experience that she could do just that.
I followed her to a connected room, about halfway over I fell to the ground, the strength in my legs failing me. She was by my side in a moment lifting me up by the arm supporting some of my weight. Normally I would scold her for her impotence but I lacked the energy to do so.
Entering the bath I felt the cold white tiles on my feet as they seemed to suck the heat from me.
"It is time to get undressed, miss" the elf said.
I started pulling my borrowed clothes off; a set of simple sleepwear; I was apparently too slow as the elf soon pulled the shirt off for me and brought the pants down as well.
"Give me a moment to add some scents and soap to the water"
As she did that I found a mirror in the corner of the room. Looking into it the first thing that struck me was my new eye, it was like a sapphire with the only blemish being the black vertical slit that was the pupil. Next I observed myself, I had lost weight, I could see my ribs and my limbs looked thin, the muscle in them having been consumed by my own body.
Lifting my hands I brushed them over the scars caused by the burns, one on my hip, another on my abdomen and a large one on going from my ear to below my shoulder.
"I apologize on the healer's behalf"
Turning to the elf I asked "What?"
"I apologize on the healer's behalf; they did everything they could but healing magic doesn't do well with burns. I was told however that overtime with some healing most of it will disappear"
Looking back at the mirror I brushed my hands over then once again then turned and made my way to the bat; a basin set into the ground.
"Let me help you"
Not saying anything I let her help me into the bath, as the warm water surrounded me my body shuddered at the warmth as it sunk into my bones.
"Ahhh" I let out a sigh as the warm water made it to my shoulders.
"That must feel good after so many days without one"
I didn't grace her with an answer.
"Now let's start with the hair"
The elf grabbed a bucket from nearby, filling it with water from the bath and dumping it over my head. Then she grabbed some sort of soap and started to press it into my hair, letting the grime from days past detach itself from my head.
"Honestly I think you're quite lucky the Tower Master gave you the dragon eye"
"Lucky, I lost my eye," I said, rolling my eyes at her idiotic comment.
"Yes lucky, you are the only person besides the dragons on the ninety fifth floor who currently had dragon blood flowing through them"
"So I am part dragon?" I rolled my eyes again.
"Not quite, maybe one percent at this point but overtime your body will adapt more to the eye"
"Adapt?"
"You didn't think someone else lit your room on fire did you. The eye has already increased the power of your fire"
"Where are the dragons in the tower?" I asked, changing the topic.
"Yes, the elder dragons are on the ninety fifth floor though there are some lesser ones scattered around the other floors as well though they don't get along well with the demons"
"Demons?"
"Never associate with a demon," she warned, giving me a hard look.
Giving her a scowl I said "and why not"
"They are a dark creature that has a tendency to grant a person's greatest desire, though it always comes with a price none are willing to bear"
I could feel the elf shiver as she mentioned the demons, by their name alone even I knew they could not be trusted, then again, I didn't trust anybody.
The elf smiled, "Enough of the depressing talk, how would you like to style your hair today?"
"Who cares?" I said, making the elf's smile seem more strained than before.
