Chapter 22 - Chapter 22

1st Pov

Spending another half an hour getting to know the group of Meta's I decide it's time to show them out and guide them to the door, even in this new life I still hate long social interactions. Ushering everyone out and waving them goodbye I'm finally alone again.

Stepping away from the door, I hear a knock and do a one eighty to see who it could be. Opening the door its surprisingly a nervous looking Jean who knocked.

"Um… Uh, could I stay at your place for a bit? My room at the X manor is a bit destroyed at the moment?" - Jean

Chuckling slightly at Jeans shy antics, I step to the side to clear the door and gesture her in.

"It would be my pleasure; you can stay as long as you need." – Morgan

Now with just the two of us alone in my house I get a little stumped, what am I meant to do now? Psionically clearing up all the plates and mess whilst I think, I eventually come to a decision.

"You can use my room; I don't need to sleep so I've only used it once since I got this house." – Morgan

"Are you sure? I don't want to steal your room." – Jean

Waving off Jeans concerns I reassure her its fine before opening up my elevator.

"I'm heading downstairs, you should get comfortable." – Morgan

Leaving Jean to have free rein of the house I head for my lab, on the way I made sure to leave the panel open so Jean can access the elevator.

Down in my lab I started work on a larger and more versatile atomic printer. Over the next day I toiled away tirelessly creating a new device, the first part of the device I made was the outer shell.

Featuring a thick titanium alloy shell with only specified access points the device was protected from tampering and environmental hazards, from the outer shell I worked on the internal alloy synthesis forge. This forge used parts from all branches of my knowledge to create a device capable of separating items down to the atom.

The next part of the machine I was building was the computer and power systems, using a advanced quantum computer capable of easily beating every computer on earth combined I was able to create a smart system to perfectly control the most delicate of parts.

Then to ensure the power supply won't be interrupted I created a high output nuclear core using the functional principles of a fusion core. Finally, the part that took the longest was the assembly chamber.

Creating over a million molecule thick needles, each with electromagnetic shielding and atomic propulsion technology took ages. In addition to the needles, I incorporated the motor design used in the machines of the Horizon universe to control the direction of the needles.

Finally, before installing the atom needles, I created the most accurate electromagnetic field control device ever seen, this device is so accurate each of the over one hundred million tiny emitters is capable of individually moving an atom.

All together once the machine was completed it should be able to rapidly create the most advanced tech I have available at the moment. Performing a final system check and hardware check I step back.

Before me, the completed machine stands, the only part of it visible is the access ports. The rest of the colossal machine stretches back over a hundred metres from the current room.

Stepping forward I connect my hand to the machine to bypass the security programs and rapidly load the massive amount of data needed into the computer. Holding my hand in place for over a minute, I extend a tendril and dump out 100 kilograms of each element into the material input.

Finished uploading the program I extract my hand and remotely activate it. Starting up with an electrical whirring the material input flashes quickly as the tens of tons of material are near instantly atomised.

Once the materials are atomised the front of the machine clicks a few times before all the access points slam shut and the machine falls quiet. Checking over the machine the insides are still in full function, the only reason I can't hear it is because the vibrational stabilisers built into the shell are so effective.

Receiving a transmission from the machine with the assembly time I check it and see a few hours. Checking over my workshop quickly I clear my fabricator queues so no more fabricators are made, at the moment I'm up to nine with a tenth in construction.

Walking over to the joint fabricator system I check it's activity log. At the moment most of the resources are being brought over by the construction hives but they are falling behind and the fabricators have to wait for materials.

Quickly opening my store, I by the Shell-Walker from the Horizon universe, modifying it I change the lightning gun into a electromagnetic manipulator and the shield generator into a multipurpose hard light generator.

I also modify its cargo crate to use a polymer based compression storage to hold the atomised materials, the new storage is also now capable of extending a prehensile tendril capable of interacting with the majority of my resource depots.

Breaking down the blueprint into printable parts I connect to the fabricator system and load it up, while I'm at it I upload a copy of the construction hives parts and the spider bots. Queuing up a few Shell-Walkers, Construction Hives and Spider bots I'm almost finished.

Finally extending out a tendril I interface directly with the currently in construction data lines, using the data lines I load the assembly instructions for all the parts in the fabricator into the construction hives servers.

Now satisfied my base will continue running while I'm away I head for the elevator. In the elevator I impatiently tap the floor, opening my points interface I look over my recent activity.

-Shell-Walker (Green)

Universe: Horizon Zero Dawn

Type: Blueprint

Grade: (C+)

Part of a series of transport type robots, the Shell-Walker resembles a six legged hermit crab in appearance. The Shell-Walker has two outfitted arms, one is capable of shooting electrical balls and is dubbed the lightning gun. The other arm features a weak hard light shield to defend itself, the Shell-Walker carries a hexagon cargo crate on its flat back and is held in place with electromagnetic force.

{A/N: For anyone who's wondering what the repeat creation is, it's all the computer parts and other misc. parts her factories produce. And I am slowly decreasing the number of points received from this.}

Reaching the top of the elevator I see Jean slumped on the couch looking bored, hearing the elevator arrive at the top Jean sits up and looks over towards it.

Stepping out and sitting next to Jean I look over her outfit, her current outfit is the same one I made her a day ago. Getting a good idea I turn to Jean.

"Do you want to go shopping? You need some new clothes because you destroyed your last ones at the X manor." – Morgan

Pondering it Jean looks down at her outfit before slumping, curious why she's slumping I ask.

"What's got you down?" – Morgan

"I don't have much money." – Jean

Looking at Jean's blank face makes me temporarily taken aback, thinking it over I suppose with Charles's level of control he wouldn't have let her earn much money. Smiling I come up with an idea.

"Why don't you invest in my company? The current stock prices are low and I plan to release a bunch of new products this month. Besides, I can pay for your clothes today, money isn't a problem. I literally have the best mining operation in the world." – Morgan

Smiling Jean's mood seems to improve and she sits up properly, pivoting to me she looks me dead in the eyes.

"Really? Are you sure you want to offer to buy my clothes? Oh, and I don't know how to invest." – Jean

Seeing an opportunity, I go for it, speaking albeit nervously I look Jean in the eye.

"I would be happy to teach you how to invest and help your shopping, though you'll need to pay me back…" – Morgan

"How do you want me to repay you?" – Jean

"Well, you could repay me by giving me a chance and going on a date with me." – Morgan

Blanking out, Jean seems to shut down which makes me worry I overstepped. Fumbling with my words Jean cuts me off with a wide smile.

"I would love to go on a date with you. Though I thought our previous outings were dates." – Jean

Blankly thinking it over I smack my head when I realise how similar all our previous outings have been to dates. Hopping up with a smile beaming across my face I look down at Jean.

"Well, if we're going on a date you need a better outfit." – Morgan

Reaching out and grabbing Jeans hand to pull her up I return to my human form, I've discovered it's easier to work in my base form, shifting my outfit I chose a new style. Creating a black set of skinny jeans with white highlights, a black tank top with AC/DC insignia and finally a perfectly fitting leather jacket.

Looking at my wings and tail I briefly ponder what to do with them deciding fuck it, I'll just say they're cosplay. I leave them out, looking over Jeans outfit it's good enough to go out in and we will buy her more clothes.

Matching my energy Jean happily hops to her feet and pulls me towards the door, still holding my hand. Walking hand in hand out of my house I quickly lock it before hopping in my car.

Driving down along the roads towards the city centre, it takes us about 20 minutes to arrive, another 10 to find a parking spot and finally when I check the time it's a quarter to two.

Walking along the streets of New York hand in hand with Jean, I'm kind of regretting not cleaning it up as it looks like the set design of London in the movie Children of Men. Making our way first to the highest rated shopping centre we began looking.

Walking down the corridors between shops I casually browse outfits in the window, if I see any outfits I really like I just memorise them before continuing. After a while Jean found a shop she liked, following Jean into the shop I began to regret my decision.

Flitting from clothes rack to clothes rack like a hummingbird I could visibly see the excitement building on Jeans face, after a few minutes Jean walked over and dumped a huge pile of clothes into my arms before pushing me over to the changerooms.

What proceeded after that was four hours of Jean trying on different outfits as she pulled me from shop to shop, by the end of the four hours Jean only stopped because she was getting hungry. Walking along with a huge stack of different clothes, I discreetly made my way into an alley and stashed them in my inventory.

After shopping Jean and I found a nice family run restaurant hidden behind the mall, sitting down I personally ordered a chicken schnitzel with a can of ginger beer. Jean on the other hand ordered a chicken salad with a lemon lime and bitters drink.

Sitting there as we waited for our food we started some idle chatter, eventually our conversation got to Jean's continued stay at my house. After a bit of discussion, I agreed to Jean being my roommate, and to keep things fair gave her a low rent cost.

Jean happily agreed to paying rent as; one I had an amazing house, two it didn't make her feel like she was leeching off me, three the rent was reasonable, and finally four she didn't have anywhere else to stay at the moment.

When our food arrived, our conversation slowed down for a time before picking up again halfway through our meal, towards the end of our conversation I could tell Jean had something on her mind and encouraged her to speak.

"What's downstairs at home?" – Jean

Surprised by the weird question I just tell her the truth.

"My workshops downstairs, I've got fabricators, a mining operation and a bunch of robots" – Morgan

Nodding Jean seems happy with my answer and continues eating.

After our meal I take Jean down to a Ferris wheel by the water, as we ride up the Ferris wheel it stops at the top and we get a few minutes to watch the sun set over the ocean. Continuing on the Ferris wheel circles all the way around and we hop off.

Moving on from the Ferris wheel we head over to the carnival games set up around the area, moving from game to game Jean and I slowly take all the prizes from the unsuspecting vendors. Bringing our date to a close we grab Ice cream and sit by the water.

As we sit there I think about the filth I saw around the city, deep down I can feel my instincts screaming at the ugly filth but I suppress it. Feeling a weight on my shoulder I look down at Jean who is leaning her head on my shoulder.

Enjoying the moment it's unfortunately interrupted by a loud explosion echoing over the city, looking over I see flames rising above the buildings and a helicopter flying around. Hearing gunshots now echoing across the city my curiosity rises.

Looking at Jean who also noticed the chaos, she gives me a shrug and stands up. Retuning to my base form I pass Jean her outfit out of my inventory. Then erecting a wall around Jean I let her get changed.

Hovering off the sand, once Jean finished changing she rises next to me, then with a small bit of psychic communication we both fly towards the fire.

Arriving over the top of the chaos I can see two three storey brutes slugging it out with cars and fists. Recognising the Hulk and Abomination I consider ending this straight away, though thinking better of it I instead decide to deal with some nuisances.

Telepathically scanning the area, I mark my targets and send the civilians locations to Jean. Flying away from Jean I approach my first target, looking at the unconscious man in the rubble who's bleeding from his head whilst a glowing green liquid drips into his open wound I recognise him.

The man before me is Samuel Stern aka The Leader, one of the potentially most annoying men in this universe if left alone. Merging my hand into his skull briefly, I studied the process of his mutations.

At the moment when I found him Samuel had been infected by the hulks blood, if I chose to leave him be this same blood would eventually give him immense intelligence and power. In some iterations of his character, he even becomes essentially immortal.

Happy with my observations I shred his brain, putting his body in my inventory I'm happy with another potential problem solved. As much as I would have liked to hire Samuel the mutation would unfortunately make him too crazy.

And crazy is better off dead. Scanning again I look for my next target, cleaning up every trace Samuel was ever here I take to the air. Waving at Black Widow who's making her way into the building, I head for the helicopter.

Landing next to the burning helicopter wreckage I walk straight towards one man, standing over him I quickly scan his mind. Disgusted by what I see I sharpen my arm and pierce a hole in his head before destroying his brain. Looking around no-one seems to of seen what happened.

Shooting out a tendril I destroy the supports on the closest building and watch as it crushes the remains of General Thaddeus Ross. The reason I killed General Ross was because whilst he's a good general he is the worst human.

Ross had single handedly taken part in more human experiments, kidnappings, tortures, and other crimes than most groups would do combined. The man was absolute scum who's only goal in life was to increase his own power by any means.

I could respect wanting to get stronger but not his actions, turning away from Ross's crushed body I take to the air. Floating towards the nearest fire I reach my hand out and take control of it. Using my pyrokinesis I quickly gather all the active fires and condense them into a ball.

Feeling fancy, I suck in a large breath of air before eating the condensed fireball and breathing out. Instantly a blue beam of fire shoots out and collides dead centre with the abomination. Despite how it seems I don't actually want to kill the Abomination as he could be useful, also he isn't the worst human.

Using my beam I quickly and easily severe all the abominations limbs, clamping my jaw shut I cut off the beam of fire. It's a shame, the abomination's still weak. Landing in front of Hulk I look up towards his eyes.

The Hulk for the most part seems confused and starts shrinking, seeing no harm in introductions I extend my hand to him and introduce myself.

"Hi big guy, I'm a friend. Do you want to be friends?" – Morgan

The Hulk confused for a moment instantly sports a large smile, reaching out the Hulk grabs my hand and starts shaking it. I'm regretting offering my arm.

"Hi weird person, Hulk will be friend." – Hulk

Speaking in surprisingly good English the Hulk continues shaking my arm.

"Could you release my arm big guy." – Morgan

Feeling my arm get a bit sore I check my health and see it rapidly depleting. The Hulk for his part seems to recognise he did something wrong and release's my arm. I like this version of the Hulk; he reminds me of the animated series one though he seems to have the mind of a toddler.

With my hand now free I look around with my psionics, finding Jean I see she's keeping her distance and has saved all the civilians. Kicking the limbless and unconscious Abomination to the side I turn to Hulk before I leave.

"Hulk buddy, some people are going to come for you soon. You should jump out of the city towards the ocean, I'll meet up with you later." – Morgan

Checking the Hulk understood I nod before flying off, as I fly I send Jean a telepathic message to meet up with me.
