Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

After Zhang finished reading the introduction about the safe house, he immediately selected the services he needed.

First up was the complete reinforcement of the house, replacing all the materials in the building.

The walls, ceiling, and floor would all be replaced with 200mm thick alloy.

This material is aerospace-grade, weighing only one-third of steel, but its strength is ten times that of steel!

Using this material to build the safe house, it could be embedded into Zhang's apartment building without worrying about overload.

The windows would be made of the best bulletproof glass available today.

Next, the ventilation system would be fitted with air filtration, ensuring that no harmful gases could enter from the outside.

Finally, a comprehensive surveillance system would be installed to monitor every corner inside and outside the house with no blind spots.

The doors would be replaced with heavy-duty anti-theft doors, the same material used in bank vaults. Even small bombs would struggle to blow them open.

In short, Zhang's only requirement was simple—turn his house into an impenetrable fortress!

After selecting everything, Zhang handed the computer back to Wu.

Wu stared at the screen, his eyes wide in disbelief.

"A 120-square-meter house, and you're turning it into something like a fortress."

"Add some weapons, and it's basically a stronghold!"

Hearing this, Zhang's eyes flashed. He lowered his voice and asked, "Oh, do you have any experience with fortresses?"

Wu chuckled, "I used to be a mercenary abroad. I know a lot about military gear."

Suddenly, an idea struck Zhang. He leaned in closer and asked quietly, "So, do you think you could get me some guns?"

Wu's expression immediately turned serious.

"Mr. Zhang, you should know that those things are not allowed to be privately owned in Hua country."

"Is there something you're worried about, like dangerous enemies coming after you?"

Zhang shrugged and sighed, "Yeah, I made some enemies in the underworld. They're ruthless, and they have guns."

"I was just thinking, maybe I could get some weapons for self-defense. Otherwise, I'll just be stuck in my house, getting beaten up. That's not a solution."

Wu laughed lightly, "Mr. Zhang, I'm afraid I can't help with that. We're a legitimate company."

But Zhang could tell from Wu's expression that it wasn't a matter of capability—it was a matter of not wanting to get involved in shady dealings.

Zhang took a deep breath, then said, "I'm spending over 8 million on this safe house project. If anything happens later, it won't look good for your company."

He stared at Wu, speaking slowly and deliberately, "I just need something for self-defense. If you can help me with this, I'll make it worth your while."

Wu stayed quiet for a moment, furrowing his brow. He definitely had connections, but he wasn't sure about Zhang's background. He didn't want to take unnecessary risks.

"You should go back for now. While I can't handle this myself, I can try to find out for you. If I get any news, I'll contact you."

Wu was clearly still undecided.

Zhang didn't push him too hard—guns were a delicate matter, after all.

"Okay, I'll wait for your update," Zhang said with a smile.

"By the way, this is urgent, so please speed up the construction of the safe house."

Wu nodded, "We can have it ready in about half a month."

After the discussion, Zhang immediately signed the contract and paid a 1 million deposit.

As for the remaining balance—well, he'd never have to pay it.

After leaving the Dragon Security Company, Zhang felt like the housing issue was pretty much settled.

Next, he returned to his car and called a friend, Liu.

Liu ran a hunting ground in Tianhai City, where he leased several hundred acres and stocked various harmless animals for people to hunt.

He had many legal channels for obtaining crossbows, compound bows, and air guns. Zhang had visited a few times before, so he had Liu's contact info.

Zhang called and asked Liu to help him buy some equipment, offering to pay extra.

Liu was a businessman and frequently asked Zhang for favors, so he agreed easily.

"Zhang bro, why are you buying so much gear? These are for hunting or personal use, not for hurting anyone, right?"

Liu laughed, but there was a hint of caution in his voice.

After all, he was selling the items, and if Zhang used them to hurt someone, it could cause problems for Liu too.

Of course, Liu wasn't exactly an innocent party—he ran a hunting ground in Tianhai City, which meant he had some influence. Still, he didn't want to risk anything on Zhang.

Zhang chuckled and casually gave an excuse, "You're overthinking it! I'm going on a hunting trip with some friends to an African wildlife park, so I need more gear."

Liu clicked his tongue, "Oh, Zhang bro, you sure know how to play! But be careful, there are lions and hyenas in Africa."

"Yeah, yeah, don't worry about it," Zhang said nonchalantly. "So when can you have the stuff ready?"

"Don't worry, I have everything in stock. You can come pick it up whenever you're free."

Zhang didn't waste any time. He immediately drove to the Xishan Hunting Ground and bought the equipment.

Everything was obtained through legal channels, and Zhang himself had a hunting license, so he wasn't worried about police questioning him.

He bought five steel crossbows, three high-end compound bows, three hundred arrows for both the bows and crossbows, and two top-quality hunting knives made of Damascus steel—extremely tough and sharp, perfect for self-defense.

The trunk of his car was packed with all the gear. Looking at it, Zhang felt a strong sense of security.

He brought the equipment home and it was already dusk.

Later, he went out alone and had a satisfying hotpot dinner at Haidilao.

Thinking that he'd have to make his own hotpot in the future, he paid and ordered a batch of hotpot seasoning from Haidilao.

The staff were shocked and thought Zhang was from a rival business trying to cause trouble.

But thanks to Haidilao's good service, they didn't confront him directly.

Soon, the manager came over, and after talking to Zhang, he agreed to the order—but on the condition that it be paid in cash to avoid any trouble.

Zhang paid a cool 1 million right there on the spot.

Such a generous payment made the store manager smile from ear to ear and even threw in an additional 500 servings of hotpot seasoning for Zhang.
