Liam POV
My father finally arrived, his face pale with shock as he took in Melody's lifeless body sprawled on the road. He handed me a pair of sweatpants and no shirt—it's all he could find on such short notice. He came in his truck, with two shovels in the back.
Together, we buried Melody's body deep in the forest, ensuring no one would ever find her. By the time we were done, I was drenched in sweat, my skin caked with dried blood and dirt. With the shovel pressed into the ground, I stared at the mound of earth marking her grave.
"Son, I should probably inform Klinton that Melody is gone," my father said, leaning on his shovel.
I wiped the sweat from my forehead, my voice shaking as I replied, "I didn't mean to, Dad... but I couldn't take it anymore. She had Claudine, and she was about to take another life. I couldn't stand her twisted games any longer."
