Haylie POV
In the early dawn, after breakfast, I decided to take an early walk. My mind was crowded with thoughts, and my heart felt heavy with the ache of missing Liam. These days, the weight of his absence seemed more unbearable than during the six months I've been here.
Even though I wore my pink summer dress and flip-flops, the morning chill bit against my skin, reflecting the cold and pain within my heart. The pieces of my broken heart felt scattered, and though I tried to move on, nothing seemed to help. Liam's memory continued to haunt me.
I found myself standing still at the lake, drawing a deep breath to fill my lungs with the fresh air of the water and the soft morning dew.
The sun was just beginning to rise, and I guessed it was already around ten. As I gazed out over the lake, sadness tugged at me, and a sharp ache gripped my chest, amplifying the longing I felt.
