Lena stood transfixed to the spot in the middle of her living room. Her head ached as she listened to the sounds of pleasure and torture purring from her fiance and his hooker.
She had heard many ladies who came to the salon for a hairdo talk a lot about their boyfriends and husbands cheating on them.
She never really knew the right word to console them with because she didn't understand the feeling of being cheated on till now.
She shook her head, unable to bear any more of his unfaithfulness. Throwing her phone away, Lena fell to the ground and wept.
She loved Drake with all her heart. She'd been in love with him since they both got turned down from their first job interview at Mac's business institute.
Lena couldn't resist his good looks and approached him. They talked, laughed about the cruelty of the elite, shared contacts, and had sex on her rooftop the next day. After losing her purity to him, Lena felt a million times more in love with him.
She was the one who asked for his hand in marriage, not just because her parents were pressuring her to get married or she'd die a wretch but because she was obsessed with him.
Lena cried so hard she fell asleep on the living room floor.
It was when she heard the front door opening, her eyes fluttered open.
" You are becoming careless every day; what if someone had tried breaking in? You left all the doors unlocked." Drake chided as he glanced at her.
Her eyes were swollen from crying too much. Drake didn't even bother asking what was wrong and headed for his room.
Lena shot up to her feet, went after him, and grabbed his shoulder. She spun him around and sent a mighty slap across his face. It didn't take a second for her to start crying again.
Drake held his cheek, his eyes were wide in shock. " What the he— How dare you put your hands on me!"
" How dare me put my hands on you, you say?" She sent a fist to his chest, making him nearly tumble over. " You cheating bastard!"
She was about to slap him again when he grabbed her hand and pinned her against the wall.
Lena panted and went red all over at his proximity. She hated herself for still feeling smitten by him. She tried to push him away, but he slammed a fist into the wall angrily, making her flinch.
" Try fighting me off and I'll make you regret it."
Lena's eyes narrowed as she scrutinized his deep blue eyes for any sign of empathy, but she found nothing.
Is this the same man who was so madly in love with her yesterday?
" How can you do this to me." She said through a sobbing voice. " How can you cheat on me?"
Drake grabbed her chin fiercely, his eyes staring hot on hers. " So that's why you had the nerve to hit me?" He pressed a finger up her jaw, his fingernails peeling her skin.
Finger in between her lips, he dug his fingernail into the flesh of her lower lip.
Lena writhed in pain.
She sobbed in pain and tried pushing away from him but to no avail. It hurt her how he turned into a monster overnight.
" I don't know how you found out. Well, finally you are putting your brains to use." He let out an outrageous laugh. " Yes, baby, I cheated on you, and I freaking enjoyed it. Don't blame me…" He kissed her neck. " no man can handle an insane woman like you."
Lena released a gasp when he sucked the nape of her neck. She struggled to pull free from him but he was too powerful. The motion of his lips on her neck became fierce. He slid his hand under her shirt and reached for her bra but she managed to stop him.
" Stop resisting. I know you want me to fuck you till you can't stand anymore." He tried to free his hand from her grip but she kept on holding him back.
Angry, he bit her neck fiercely. Adrenaline rushed through Lena's course; she didn't realize when she raised her knees and kicked him in the ball, making him stumble back with a wince on his face.
Lena ran to the wall across the room and struggled for air. She wrapped her arm around her exposed breasts peeking out of her torn shirt as she cried.
" What did I ever do to you?" She curled to the wall hoping it would open and swallow her.
Drake muttered vile words under his breath as he held his throbbing p**is. " Just wait till I get my hands on you."
" You said you loved me, Drake. You—"
" I said a lot of things I didn't mean." He hissed. " I thought you'd be smart enough to get the hint but you didn't. Wait, who do you think I am? A main character that crawled out of a romance novel that is willing to spend his life with one goddamn woman!"
Lena shuddered at his harsh tone. " No, but you could have at least been a good human being."
" And that, according to you, is a man you'd have under your wings and is willing to marry you. You are such a pathetic excuse of a woman." he snarled. " What makes you think a guy like me would want to ever settle down with one human being?"
" It's because I believed you loved me." Her eyes were a cloud of tears.
Drake laughed half-heartedly. His lips curved into an 'aww' as he walked to her. " Don't worry baby, if marriage is what you call love, we will still get married. Don't be scared, I won't call off the wedding."
Lena shot him a look. Getting married to him was something she was supposed to be excited about; now, it just made her want to cry an ocean, knowing he never had feelings for her.
" Don't bother calling it off, I'll call it off myself."
" Really? My sweet Lena, baby, have you forgotten how happy your parents were when you told them you were going to get married?"
Although Lena was twenty-two, her parents were very insistent she get married. Even at eighteen, they were pushing her into marriage. Lena's great-grandparents were Muslims and had taught their children and grandkids the tradition of early marriage.
Despite living in a modern era, Lena's parents were down to their tradition. They preferred old to new. Hell, they believed the modern day was just a repetition of what happened in the old days. That is, the new is just a modified version of the old.
"Your father had heart failure hearing the news. Imagine telling him we won't get married again. Think about it." Drake smirked when he saw the defeat in her eyes.
" Now don't you look sexy when you cry? I should make you cry more often, shouldn't I?" He raised his fingers to touch her lips but he slapped it away.
" Don't touch me!" Lena barked in a weak tear-choked tone.
She turned to the side and sobbed into her palms.
A wicked smile played on Drake's lips as he took a step back. " Let me guess, you failed your interview because you weren't what they expected physically? I won't blame them, that's why I cheated on you in the first place."
He made a 180-degree turn as he headed for the stairs, " Don't cry yourself to death just yet; I need you alive for our wedding."
Lena rested her head on the wall and bit her lips, trying to stop herself from crying. One thing she had learned while growing up is to never allow anyone to see your vulnerability.
If she wasn't fighting back the pain and anger swirling in her heart, she would have been screaming and breaking things.
So, the only reasonable thing to think of to get her mind off Drake's betrayal was to go clubbing, drink, and make love to some stranger to show Drake she wasn't the only one who could be unfaithful.
Swallowing her tears, Lena sent a text message to her besties, Abby and Raymond telling them to be at the club by nin
e p.m.
Ten seconds later, she got a similar response from both of them.
