Chapter 16 - When Air Burns

At night, Tony screamed and bolted upright in his bed, his face pale and his breathing erratic. MyungJin, startled awake by the noise, immediately sat up and turned to him with concern.

"What happened? Here, have some water," MyungJin said, his brows furrowed as he handed Tony a glass.

Tony's trembling hands took the glass, and he drank deeply before letting out a shaky breath. "Nothing, just a nightmare," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

MyungJin studied Tony for a moment, his expression softening. "Don't worry. It's just a dream. Try to sleep," he said gently.

Tony nodded hesitantly. "You're right. It's nothing but a dream," he muttered, lying back down.

As his breathing evened out, MyungJin sighed in relief and returned to his own bed, drifting off soon after.

The next morning, Ryu and Tony walked to the training ground, where they found Jin and Kai already waiting.

Tony looked at the group, his face still clouded with unease. "I had a nightmare last night. I even screamed, but Ryu didn't hear a thing," he said, his tone tinged with frustration.

"What? I don't remember you screaming," Ryu said, blinking in surprise.

Tony shot him a look. "That's because you were in a deep sleep," he replied, crossing his arms.

Jin tilted his head curiously. "What kind of nightmare was it? What did you see?"

Kai smirked, leaning casually against a nearby post. "I bet he saw himself and turned his dream into a nightmare," he quipped.

Tony glared at him. "I saw a monster..." he began, but Kai cut him off.

"See? Told you," Kai said, chuckling.

"Let him finish," Ryu said firmly, shooting Kai a disapproving look.

Tony's voice trembled slightly as he continued. "I saw a monster attacking Ex Agency. Everything was on fire, like in my earlier vision. I also saw all of you... dying."

The group fell silent, the weight of Tony's words sinking in.

"A vision again? But this time as a nightmare?" Jin asked, his brow furrowed in thought. "We should ask Wei about it. Maybe he can help."

As they spoke, MyungJin walked by, his sharp ears catching the conversation. His expression turned serious, and he approached them.

"Why didn't you tell me about this last night? And how did you have a vision of the dream before?" MyungJin asked, his tone both curious and slightly accusatory.

Tony looked away, his shoulders slumping. "I thought you'd make fun of me, and I was too shaken by the dream," he admitted.

MyungJin's expression softened. "You can trust me. I've faced challenges in the past too," he said quietly.

"What kind of challenges?" Ryu asked, his eyes narrowing slightly.

Jin crossed his arms, his gaze piercing. "If you want us to trust you, you need to trust us as well."

MyungJin sighed, his shoulders dropping slightly. "I lost my powers while fighting a villain who turned into a Titan Cerberus. My team survived, and they still have their powers, but I don't."

Kai's eyes widened, a grin spreading across his face. "That's so cool!" he exclaimed. "We also fought a villain who killed the Princess and Prince of another dimension. Just like you, Ryu lost his powers and hasn't unleashed new ones yet. And we spent a month there even though only a few days passed here."

"That's impressive too," MyungJin said, nodding in appreciation. "Do you still have powers? Can I see them?"

"What was your power before?" Jin asked, his tone cautious.

"I had Technology Eyes," MyungJin explained. "When fighting Titan Cerberus, I pushed my power beyond 100%, shooting a laser through my eyes to defeat it—with help from my team, of course. Now, your turn to share."

Jin smirked, drawing his knife and holding it up. "My powers are in my knife—it can throw both fire and water."

Tony clenched his fist, a faint glow radiating from it. "Mine used to be in my weapon, but after it broke, I discovered my inner power in my punch. I can turn things into stone."

Kai spread his arms, his wings materializing behind him with a faint shimmer. "My weapon broke too, but through meditation, I gained wings."

Ryu glanced down, a flicker of regret crossing his face. "My weapon also broke. You can ask Master Feng about it; we told him everything."

MyungJin nodded thoughtfully. "Oh, Master Feng told me to meet him. I've got to go. See you tomorrow."

"Hey, can I come with you?" Ryu asked, his tone hopeful.

"Sure," MyungJin said, and the two headed off toward the principal's office.

Jin turned to the others, his expression serious. "I'm going to Wei. I want to visit the other dimension again." Without waiting for a response, he left.

Kai leaned toward Tony, a mischievous glint in his eye. "Hey, I have something cool to show you—but you have to promise not to tell anyone."

Tony raised an eyebrow. "Alright, I promise. What is it?"

Kai reached into his pocket and pulled out a green gem, holding it up with a sly grin.

Tony's eyes widened in awe. "Wow! That's incredible! But it looks like it's from a sword. Ryu's gifted sword doesn't have a gem. Maybe we could test it."

"Yeah, but I'll take it back after checking," Kai said firmly.

"Alright, I'll grab the sword and meet you in the cave," Tony said, excitement evident in his voice.

"See you there," Kai replied, a smirk playing on his lips.

Tony went to his room, his face set with determination. He carefully picked up the sword gifted to Ryu by Prince Ryu. With the sword in hand, he headed to the cave where Kai was waiting.

"Did you get it?" Kai asked, his voice tinged with anticipation.

"Yeah. Let's check if it fits," Tony replied, handing over the sword.

Kai nodded, holding up the green gem. They placed it on the sword's hilt. Suddenly, a bright light burst forth, followed by a deafening explosion. Smoke filled the cave.

Tony coughed, waving his hand to clear the air. "What just happened? Where's the sword?"

Kai's eyes darted around frantically. "And the gem? Where did it go?"

Tony examined the area, panic creeping into his voice. "I think... I think they both blew up in the explosion."

Kai's expression hardened. "What do we do now?"

Tony clenched his fists, thinking quickly. "We have to get a replica made before Ryu finds out."

Kai sighed but nodded. "Got it. Let's move fast."

Meanwhile, Ryu and MyungJin arrived at the open training ground where Master Feng was waiting. The expansive field stretched under a bright sky, with soft grass rustling in the wind.

"Sir, you called me?" MyungJin asked, bowing slightly as they approached.

Master Feng stood in the center, his stance calm but commanding. "Yes. Are you ready to learn Aerokinesis?"

"Aerokinesis?" Ryu echoed, curiosity sparking in his eyes.

"It is an inner human power that allows one to control air," Master Feng explained patiently.

"Like airbending?" MyungJin asked, tilting his head.

"Exactly like that," Master Feng replied, a hint of amusement in his tone.

"What can an Airbender do, sir?" MyungJin pressed, eager to learn.

Master Feng's gaze sharpened as he spoke. "An airbender can control airflow, strengthen their punches with air currents, make others fly, and much more. It's a powerful skill when mastered."

Ryu stepped forward, determination flashing in his eyes. "Sir, I want to learn Aerokinesis too."

Master Feng nodded. "Very well. Let's begin."

The training started with Master Feng raising his hand, summoning a soft breeze. "Focus on feeling the air. Try to guide it," he instructed.

Ryu and MyungJin concentrated, but the air resisted their control. After thirty minutes of failed attempts, both were exhausted.

"Let's take a break," Master Feng suggested, gesturing for them to sit under the shade of a nearby tree. He handed them water bottles.

After resting for fifteen minutes, they resumed.

"Hey, Myung, can I call you that?" Ryu asked, breaking the silence as they returned to the field.

MyungJin shrugged. "Sure."

Ryu held out his hand, feeling the faint brush of air. "I can feel it... smooth, like it's gliding over my skin."

MyungJin nodded but frowned slightly. "I feel it too, but it's more... tingling than smooth."

Before Ryu could respond, he suddenly collapsed, clutching his arm.

"Ryu!" MyungJin knelt beside him. "What's wrong?"

Ryu groaned in pain, his face contorted. "My arm... it's burning!"

Master Feng rushed over, concern etched on his face. "What happened?"

"We were training, and he just dropped. Is this normal?" MyungJin asked, his voice trembling slightly.

Master Feng knelt and touched Ryu's arm, immediately recoiling. "It's burning hot—like touching fire!"

"Should we take him to his room?" MyungJin asked, panic evident.

"No," Master Feng said decisively. "We need to get him to the EX Agency immediately."

Ryu's body went limp as he lost consciousness, but his arm remained searing hot. Without hesitation, Master Feng and MyungJin carried him out of the field, heading straight for the agency.
