Lucas ran to Haisley's treatment room. He was told by the hospital that Haisley had a seizure because there was poison in her IV. Currently, Haisley is still in the hands of doctors who are trying to remove the poison from Haisley's body. Daxter followed his running boss and the look of worry on his boss's face.
They were already in front of Haisley's hospital room. Lucas was about to enter, but Daxter held back his arm. "Wait until the doctor comes out, sir. If you go in now, it will disturb the doctor who is working," Daxter said.
Lucas finally did not go in and waited for the doctor to leave Haisley's room. Daxter now looked at Lucas' face, which looked flat again, unlike when he ran earlier, which looked worried. Daxter looked at his watch and then looked at the door to Haisley's room. Waiting for how long the doctor worked to save Haisley.
About an hour of waiting outside the room, the doctor and nurse came out of the room. The doctor approached Lucas and Daxter. "Is he dead?" asked Lucas, to the point.
"Not yet, sir," replied the doctor. "We've removed the poison and are now just waiting for Miss Haisley to regain consciousness," replied the doctor.
"Check everyone, I don't want another incident like this. Not only for Haisley, but the patients here must also be given comfort and safety," Lucas said as he looked at the doctor.
"Yes, sir," the doctor replied.
"You, find out immediately who the person is who tried to kill Haisley. I don't want to get the news that the person who planned to kill him wasn't caught!" Lucas said as he looked at Daxter.
"Yes, sir," Daxter replied.
Daxter and the doctor took their leave. After they left, Lucas entered Haisley's treatment room. Haisley was wearing an oxygen hose, and several devices were also attached to her body. Lucas was now standing next to Haisley, whose eyes were still closed. "Who are you?" Lucas asked.
"You're just a woman collateral by your father and brother, but why do you want to be killed by someone?" asked Lucas, whose one hand was now smoothing Haisley's hair that covered Haisley's eyes.
Lucas now dialed someone's number, "Uncle, can you help me?" asked Lucas as he turned his body around and walked towards the sofa in Haisley's room.
"Are you really asking at this time of night?" asked the person he called uncle.
"What time is it? it can't be if uncle is already asleep," Lucas replied and leaned his body against the back of the sofa.
"Tsk! Tell me what you want," said his uncle, sounding annoyed.
"Poor woman, is there any chance that someone would want to kill a poor woman?" Lucas asked.
"How many years have you been taking care of your mother's business? Do you still have to ask such trivial questions?" asked the person on the other side of the phone.
"She's just a bail bondswoman for her father and brother, who have gambling debts at my bar. Her job is also just a convenience store clerk, how could she be involved in a dangerous case?" asked Lucas instead of answering the question from his uncle, who was none other than his mother's brother.
"Did you find out more details about that woman? What if she was involved in something dangerous? Don't be stupid, Lucas, you're not a baby anymore who should be taught to find out more information from the people you bring. Don't you usually check out everything about the women you're around?" Lucas asked.
"I've read all the data on her. But there's nothing dangerous about her. She's a girl who works as a guard at a convenience store, before that, she worked part-time at several places. She's also only 19 years old, Uncle," Lucas said."Are you sure that's all the data?" asked his uncle Alexander.
"Yes, that's all. She has one female friend other than that girl, she's not close to any of her other friends," said Lucas.
"Then that guy is after you," said Alexander.
"If he's after me, why Haisley? Why not just me? After all, she's just a collateral woman, why would she be targeted by those who want me killed? Before, there were many women who were my sex partners, but none were almost killed like this. That means the person who killed me wasn't after me, they were after Haisley," Lucas said.
"Do you like her?" asked Alexander.
"Why is Uncle such a daddy, asking me if I like her? I don't like her at all. She's just a collateral woman!" Lucas was annoyed by his uncle's question, which was exactly the same as his father's. What was wrong with him that he was accused of liking Haisley?
"Why would you think about who the person is who wants to kill her? If she's dead, then let it go. You don't need to think about it. Like you said, she's just your collateral woman and sex partner. You can easily find another sex partner, or if you're bored with that one over there, Uncle can find someone over here for you," Alexander said.
"Tsk! That sucks!" Lucas was annoyed and immediately hung up the phone, not caring if it would make his uncle angry.
Lucas looked back at Haisley, who still had her eyes closed, he then stood up from his seat and walked away. He had sent a message to the head bodyguard to stand guard in front of Haisley's room and also provide security on several sides around the hospital.
The car carrying Lucas had now left the hospital area. He opened his tab and looked at the data about Haisley. What had he missed that Haisley had almost died? She was just a woman who was bailed out by her parents, but did that mean she was neglecting someone's life? After all, Haisley was not the one his enemy had sent to spy on him. Her father and brother only reported illegal gambling activities to the police, so it was nothing to worry about. The police in Los Angeles were almost all business acquaintances of her mother. So, they would not seal the gambling place owned by his mother that he currently held.
Having read more carefully the data Daxter gave him, there was nothing dangerous for Haisley. So, who was the person who tried to kill Haisley, and what was Haisley's fault that she had to be killed? It couldn't be her brother and father who wanted to kill Haisley. It couldn't be her business opponents who wanted to kill Haisley. There have been many women he has made his sex partner, but there has never been an incident like this.
As the day passed, Lucas received news that the CCTV in the direction of Haisley's treatment room had been off since early morning and was only discovered when Daxter asked the hospital security room for the CCTV. CCTV in another room that leads to the street path to Haisley's room did not see anyone suspicious. There were only doctors, nurses, patients, and families of patients around.
Lucas had also asked the CCTV at every corner to be checked, whether there was anyone suspicious or not, and the results he got were the same. Upset, of course he was, how could a hospital of this size not have anyone worth suspecting? Lucas finally ordered to check every data of nurses, doctors, patients, and even patients' families with the results of CCTV recordings. He even asked the police to find out who should be suspected and made a suspect for attempted murder.
