Haisley looked towards the source of the voice, there was a middle-aged woman whom Haisley believed to be Lucas's mother. "Good morning, ma'am," Haisley greeted with a smile.
"Who are you? Why are you here?" the woman asked, looking at Haisley with suspicion.
"I ..." Haisley was confused about what to say. Should she say that she is here to pay her father's and brother's debts? However, that doesn't seem like a good answer.
"Don't bother her!" warned the heavy voice coming down the stairs.
"Your fiancé just had an accident, why are you at home? Quickly go to the hospital, or you will be considered an irresponsible fiancé," said the middle-aged woman while staring at Lucas.
"Mommy's fiancé, not me! I have never felt engaged to any woman!" he stated coldly. Lucas was now standing next to Haisley, who remained silent.
"If you want to take the company, take it. I don't care, because from the very beginning, I didn't want to deal with that damn business!" Lucas shouted.
"Go back to your room," Lucas said while looking at Haisley beside him.
"Excuse me, sir, I'm thirsty," Haisley said in a small voice, making Lucas turn.
"To your room now!" Lucas said firmly while glaring at Haisley.
Haisley became scared, so she chose to go back to her room before Lucas got even angrier. She had to endure her thirst and hunger.
Lucas now looked at his mom. "Mom, come out, I don't want to be disturbed," Lucas said, lowering his tone.
"Follow Mom to meet Ayako!" firmly said Julia, Lucas's mom.
"I don't care, and I don't want to go to the hospital. I'm going to the office, so take care of that woman yourself!" Lucas replied just as firmly, staring boldly at the mommy.
"Do you want to become a beggar? You don't have anything without family wealth," said the middle-aged woman, looking down on her child.
"Please take Mommy's belongings, I don't mind. I don't want to deal with the damn business that killed Dayana and Zenaya! Because of your actions, they died!" Lucas shouted angrily.
"You better leave, or I'll have the bodyguard drag you out of here. I don't care if Mommy is my parent!" Lucas insisted.
"Is that how you talk to your mom?" asked someone who had just entered the house.
"Dad, take your wife out. I have never been engaged to anyone. All of that is just your wife's wish. If you keep insisting, don't blame me if I really don't care about the company and leave you all. Besides, you don't need a child, do you? If you want an heir, just teach someone you trust or adopt a child, don't make me continue the family business, Mom!" Lucas insisted and left, leaving the two middle-aged people behind.
"Lucas Abraham, stop!" his dad said firmly, making Lucas halt in his tracks. When Dad calls him like that, his body seems to freeze completely. His dad is a good man, just unlucky to have married his mom. That's why Lucas rarely goes against his dad's requests.
Regarding the engagement, Lucas has already declined, and his dad has also persuaded his mom. Unfortunately, the mommy prefers her ego because the profitable business partnership can help them enter the Asian market.Julian Glimer walked over to his son, standing in front of him with a face still very angry. His hands were clenched tightly because he was so angry. "Is that how you show respect to your mother?" Julian asked with a very stern look.
"Momy started it, coming here early in the morning just because I have to accompany Ayako. Dad, I will not marry Ayako," said Lucas.
"How long are you going to keep this up? How long are you going to keep playing with just one woman? Dady knows you don't like it, but can't you just accept this engagement?" asked Julian, his tone having softened.
"Then you should just marry Ayako, Dad. Aren't you tired of emotionless women like Mom?" Lucas asked while lazily staring at his father.
A hard object now touches the back of Lucas's head. Lucas put on a flat expression, and he knew his mother was pointing a gun at his head. Lucas calmly pulled out a knife from his sleeve. Then he pointed the handle at his mother. "Don't you prefer to torture first, Mom?" Just do it, Mom, slice or dissect Lucas's body and feed it to the crocodiles. They haven't eaten a person in a long time," Lucas said so casually.
Julia pointed her gun elsewhere and shot it at the large vase in the house. Lucas didn't care about what his mother was doing. He turned his body, forcibly pulled his mother's left hand to hold the knife he was holding, then directed it to his neck with his body half-bent so that the knife would hit his neck. Fresh blood flowed from his neck because it was grazed by the knife. One of Lucas's hands took his mother's hand holding the gun and aimed it at his chest.
"Do it, Mom, it's better than Lucas having to marry Ayako," he said in a cold tone. Lucas's expression also showed no fear, he only had a flat expression.
Julia, without saying a word, scratched her son's neck deeper. Lucas was completely expressionless even though blood was flowing more and more from his neck. Julian grabbed his wife's hand and now directed the tip of the knife towards his chest.
"Just kill me, I'm the father. Don't kill my child! Isn't Dayana's departure enough for you?" Julian asked while staring at his wife.
Roughly, Julia pulled his hand, then threw the knife she was holding away. "You will still marry Ayako!" Julia insisted while staring at Lucas.
Julia held her husband's wrist and pulled him to leave. Julian held his ground and did not follow his wife's lead. "Why?" Julia asked.
"Treat Lucas's wounds first," replied Julian.
"He's not a child anymore, he can treat his own wounds. There's also a maid who can help him treat his wounds," Julia said, looking at her husband with annoyance.
"What's wrong with treating your own child?" Julian asked.
"Stop being indifferent, Julia. He is your child, not your enemy! You won't look weak by being kind as a mother!" Julian said, annoyed.
"Isn't it enough that you lost Dayana? Do you really want to have Lucas killed too, just like Dayana?" Julian asked.
"Go home or accompany your future son-in-law, I will treat my child's wounds," said Julian, and then Julian released his wife's grip on his wrist.
He grabbed Lucas's wrist and led him to sit on the sofa in the living room of Lucas's house. Julia just remained silent, watching her husband and child.
"Deliver the food to Haisley's room and prepare clothes for Haisley," Lucas said to the maid who had just delivered medicine to Lucas.
"Yes, sir," replied the maid.
"New woman?" Julian asked while treating Lucas's wound with cotton soaked in alcohol.
Julia sat on the single sofa without saying anything. Julian focused on treating his child, and Lucas also did not look at his mother. "A woman as collateral, to settle the debt," Lucas replied without expression.
