Chapter 26 - Chapter 26

Especially today, as he remembered the agony of his death in his last life, he wanted more ways to ensure his survival.

He sighed, lying in bed. Today, Xu Nuo must have been quite exhausted too, dealing with so many people at once, then setting up formations, and performing purification. Just thinking about it made Park Su feel tired on his behalf.

Looking back, he remembered the lazy voice he heard from Xu Nuo's room earlier. Perhaps it was because Xu Nuo was too tired that he spoke that way. Park Su felt that he had been too harsh, thinking Xu Nuo lacked human warmth. Thinking this way, Park Su realized he was the one who was unreliable, not caring about his companions.

With these thoughts, Park Su couldn't stay in bed any longer. But knowing Xu Nuo, if he went back now, he probably wouldn't open the door. They had been interrupted in the middle of their meal earlier, and considering Xu Nuo's usual appetite, he must not have eaten enough. So, Park Su went downstairs to prepare some lean meat congee and brought it upstairs.

After a slight hesitation, he knocked on the door. Soon, Xu Nuo's somewhat impatient voice came from inside, "What now?"

Hearing this tone, Park Su couldn't help but purse his lips, thinking to himself, if it weren't for you saving me from my inner demons, I wouldn't bother. But his tone wasn't much better, "I've prepared a midnight snack for you. Do you want it?"

After he said that, there was silence from the room. Just as Park Su thought Xu Nuo wouldn't come out and was about to leave, he heard the sound of the door opening. Turning around, he saw Xu Nuo in loose clothing, with messy hair at the doorway. This was the first time Park Su had seen him so disheveled. On anyone else, it would look sloppy, but on Xu Nuo, with his face and physique, there was a lazy sort of charisma that made Park Su pout, wondering why he didn't have such a good figure.

"What did you make?" Xu Nuo asked while reaching for the food, completely unaware of Park Su's internal complaints. Park Su snapped back to reality, noticing the fatigue on Xu Nuo's face, confirming his earlier suspicion that Xu Nuo was indeed exhausted. That's why he had gone to bed so early, making Park Su's earlier misunderstanding even more inappropriate. Fortunately, he hadn't voiced his complaints.

Seeing Xu Nuo's sleepy expression, Park Su doubted if it was a mistake to bring the snack now. Maybe he should have waited until Xu Nuo woke up. Xu Nuo, standing there for a while without receiving the food, frowned and asked, "Isn't this for me?"

Only then did Park Su come to his senses, looking quite embarrassed, "Sorry, I didn't know you were already asleep. Maybe I should leave the snack downstairs, and you can reheat it when you wake up."

Although Xu Nuo was somewhat annoyed about being woken up, his irritation vanished when he smelled the food Park Su had prepared. If Park Su suggested not eating it now but later after he woke up, wouldn't that be ridiculous?

Seeing Park Su's awkward expression, Xu Nuo would almost think he was being mocked if it weren't for that. So, he raised an eyebrow, giving Park Su a look as if he were crazy, "You think I've been woken up, smelled the aroma of the food you made, and my stomach's now hungry again, and I can still go back to sleep?"

Park Su was somewhat dazed by Xu Nuo's string of words, and then realized how foolish his earlier behavior was. Since Xu Nuo had gotten up especially for this, he must have been genuinely hungry and wanted to eat. Saying what he did was really stupid.

He couldn't help but give an awkward smile, squeezing past Xu Nuo into his room with the food, saying as he walked, "Well, I actually have something to talk to you about. It's a good opportunity to discuss it while you eat, so we don't disturb your rest."

Xu Nuo was initially uncomfortable with Park Su pushing into his room, but he only frowned without stopping him. He could see that Park Su was embarrassed about what he'd said earlier, and whether Park Su was doing this to hide his embarrassment or really had something to discuss, Xu Nuo could tolerate it for the sake of the midnight snack. Besides, the room was given to him by Park Su, and there was nothing secretive in it; if Park Su wanted to come in, let him.

At first, Park Su was focused on easing his own embarrassment from earlier, but when he went to place the food on the table, he saw the talismans spread across it, along with a brush by the side. He paused, a guess forming in his mind, and then turned to look at Xu Nuo, "You weren't drawing talismans here earlier, were you?"

Xu Nuo was baffled by Park Su's astonished look and frowned, "Is it so strange that I draw talismans here? What did you think those talismans came from?"

Park Su opened his mouth, wanting to say he thought those talismans were from some master or Xu Nuo's teacher. He never imagined Xu Nuo, at his age, could draw so many talismans himself. And following his logic, "Don't tell me the talisman you used to purify the blood aura in our yard earlier was something you just drew!"

Xu Nuo didn't understand why Park Su found it so unbelievable, but he was somewhat irritated by his partner's doubt in his abilities.

He raised an eyebrow, "Otherwise, why do you think I only started the purification until just now? And why am I so tired now?"

Although Park Su was silenced by Xu Nuo's words, he felt no displeasure, just more shock. He knew Xu Nuo was capable; that's why the shopkeeper was so respectful when they first met.

But he hadn't thought Xu Nuo was this skilled. He had seen the effects of those talismans with his own eyes, even experienced them firsthand. Knowing how effective they were, he was shocked to hear Xu Nuo had drawn them. "You're not telling me all those talismans you've used before were drawn by you?" Park Su asked, thinking about the talismans he had always been eyeing.

Xu Nuo was displeased with the disbelief and skepticism in Park Su's eyes. Did he really look that unreliable? He raised an eyebrow, "Of course, I drew them. Not only those talismans but also the spatial ring you're wearing right now - I made it out of boredom. Is that so strange?"

Upon hearing this, Park Su swallowed, "You're saying the spatial ring on my hand was made by you? You must be kidding, right? How is that possible?"

Xu Nuo found Park Su's disbelief amusing. He used to not be one to show off, but now he saw no harm in occasionally flaunting his skills.

So, Xu Nuo lifted his hand, showing the space ring clearly, "In fact, the ring you have is just a failure to me. My latest design has around forty square meters, like this one on my hand, and only I can see and use the space inside. I don't bother making these smaller ones anymore, but I keep a few around for emergencies. They're somewhat useless to me now, so they're not that exciting. Do you want to take a look?"

Despite finding Xu Nuo's words hard to believe, Park Su instinctively nodded at the mention of space rings. Getting one in the post-apocalyptic world was no easy feat; he felt lucky to have his. Now, to learn that his roommate was the maker of such things was a shock.

Remembering how casually Xu Nuo had given him the ring, Park Su thought there might be some truth to what he was saying. Since Xu Nuo offered to show them, Park Su, thinking he might as well see if he could figure out a way to get another one, quickly nodded.

Seeing Park Su's eager expression, Xu Nuo found it even more amusing. He didn't make it hard for him and pulled out five space rings from his own ring, dropping them on the table, "These are the byproducts from when I was researching space rings, ranging from six to eight square meters, with the largest at fifteen.

Unfortunately, anyone can use them, which isn't very secure, so I planned to sell them. I already have one for my own use, and if needed, I can make another exclusive one for myself. No need for these failures."

Of course, he wouldn't mention he never thought to keep these failures around until after he swindled Park Su. He suddenly realized these rings could be useful or even profitable in the future. Thus, he kept them in his ring after that incident.

Park Su, seeing Xu Nuo casually toss the rings, felt a pang of heartache. He quickly handed the food tray back to Xu Nuo to check if the rings were damaged, then anxiously confirmed if they were indeed space rings.
