Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: A mysterious pet part 1

Spirits are a changing phenomenon that inhabits several realms. They can be both friendly and bad; some are sentient, while others are not. They are invisible to the human eye, save for those with exceptionally special abilities to make a link with a spirit, known as a tether.

Spirits create this link to secure a foothold in the mortal realm or to cause mischief and havoc with their chosen being. Some spirits can attach to non-living objects such as a door, plate, or even a rock. They are known as possession spirits, whereas spirits that develop tethers with living organisms are referred to as tethered spirits.

Glove was currently in possession of a tether spirit. Tether spirits gain a link to mortals, whereas humans gain skills, but only under certain conditions. Being an exile condition, which is a fault that prevents you from using your powers unless you meet a specific criterion.

Like Glove, he cannot use his ability unless there is moisture or unless he is wet/drenched. A vein is the foundation of linked abilities into a skill; they are obtained by collecting echoes of a deceased creature and feeding them to the entity within. In addition, that being contributes to the tether's stability.

A core is a storage of mana that each human with the ability to tether to the spirit possesses; nevertheless, the mana is used by the entity within when you utilize the tether powers.

Glove's mana capacity remained sufficient to practice the skill he had developed. Glove stood up and walked towards the house with a small vigor. He felt a coldness start from his spine and emerge as chilly air from his mouth, making him shudder.

When he thought of rotating his body, it seemed frozen and motionless. Whatever that thing was, his body refused to let him turn to it. Glove braced himself as he forced his body to turn, clinched teeth and veins showing in his eyes.

Glove instantly recognized the cause of a sheep and a goat's unending screams of terror. The shadow of a monster with many legs and arms was currently in the kraal; the hands and arms, as well as the legs, resembled those of a human. Glove noticed a thing composed of flesh with no visible eyes. The creature was silent as it stood there looking at the goats and sheep, immovable, until it raised its hand toward a goat, causing them to scatter and bellow in terror.

The thing's outstretched hand grabbed one of the goats, then used its human legs and hands to rise up as another hand motioned to grab another goat, when an object hurriedly approached one of the hands, forcing the creature to drop the goat.

Glove had been sweating from terror of whatever that creature was. He then used his freeze point to form an ice ball that broke upon impact when thrown. The clump of flesh turned its body in the direction where the ice ball was thrown.

The top, which was covered in hands, began to tremble slightly as an opening appeared; the opening was the mouth, as Glove expected. To support his hypothesis, the creature made a sound from its mouth... Glove heard it before, so it sounded familiar. It was bellowing like a goat.

Suddenly, the voice exclaimed in a panic:

"A mimic, but it is unnatural" Then the voice added:

"I never heard of a spirit that looked like that"

Glove then inquired:

"Can it be killed?"

"I'm sure it can; why ask? Nimrod, you are not planning to fight that thing, correct?

Glove grabbed a breath and dashed down to the field, hopping the kraal's fence and landing on the animal water basin. The water bathed him as he desired, but he knew perspiration was insufficient to completely utilize his tether ability.

Glove was now ready to fight, armed with his scythe. However, fate had different plans. The thing turned, utilized its legs and hands to move, and began to run.

Despite its great size, it could run like a hippo while maintaining a consistent speed. Glove took a deep breath, and his eyes became blue as he added, "Drenched dash."

Glove dashed after the beast, jumping the kraal fence with incredible speed. Despite its size, the creature was swift, and as Glove ran along, he saw it up close and personal.

He noticed the cluster for what it was. A human head with little bones forming and appearing where the eyes were, and a mouth that moved as it repeated the words in the Arthesian:

"I… can't….see"

It was bellowing like a goat with its mouth, generating familiar sounds. The mouth produced additional sounds, including those of a dog, cat, goat, sheep, cow, and horse.
