Chapter 29: The Wrath of Oba

The battle raged on, and the Coiled Serpent Sect's powerhouses—those who had once been revered as the most formidable in the land—found themselves struggling to suppress a single, seemingly insignificant figure. Kayode stood firm, his spear cutting through the air with brutal efficiency, every strike a testament to his resolve. Behind him, the phantom warrior loomed, its spear blazing with radiant power.

But even as Kayode fought, the weight of the Soul Formation ancestors' presence was crushing. Their combined Qi pressed down upon him, their power swirling around him in an unrelenting wave of force. The world itself seemed to bend under the force of their attacks, each movement a storm of power that threatened to break Kayode's defenses.

Oba, on the other hand, seemed utterly unaffected. The golden-eyed cat yawned lazily, as if the fate of the world rested on nothing more than the flick of his tail. His golden eyes gleamed with amusement, his sharp claws flexing with no intention of joining the fight just yet.

"You think you're the first to try to squash me?" Oba purred, watching as the three Soul Formation ancestors converged on Kayode from all sides. "How boring."

Kayode gritted his teeth, the pressure intensifying. The phantom warrior behind him pulsed with energy, its spear blocking the venomous Qi strikes from the Sect Master's serpentine jade formation. But Kayode could feel his power waning. Even with his Nascent Soul, it wasn't enough to hold off these terrifying foes for long.

"Oba!" Kayode grunted, his voice strained. "If you're going to do something, now would be a great time!"

Oba stretched and yawned. "Do something? Fine, fine. I suppose I should entertain myself for a moment."

With a flick of his tail, the black dragon cat disappeared into the shadows of the battlefield, only to reappear beside the silver-haired ancestor in an instant. The ancient woman's eyes widened as Oba's form shimmered, his golden eyes locking onto hers with a chilling intensity.

"You dare interrupt my battle?" the silver-haired ancestor hissed, her aura flaring as she summoned a barrier of serpentine energy.

Oba didn't even flinch. With a swift movement, he struck. His paw shot out, glowing with otherworldly energy, and with a single swipe, the barrier was shattered. The silver-haired ancestor gasped, her ancient face filled with shock and disbelief. She barely had time to react before Oba vanished once again.

"These fossils are all talk," Oba mused aloud, reappearing at Kayode's side. "Kayode, you need to step it up. I'll keep them busy, but I can't do everything."

Kayode, still struggling to keep the pressure at bay, clenched his fists. His Nascent Soul trembled with power, its energies crackling inside him, waiting to be unleashed. He could feel the stirrings of something new within him, a power that had awakened from the wine of chaos—the power of his bloodline transforming.

Suddenly, Kayode's Nascent Soul flared, and the phantom warrior raised its spear high.

"Let's finish this!" Kayode shouted, channeling every ounce of his strength into the spear.

The phantom warrior roared to life, its form pulsing with golden light as it lunged forward with terrifying speed. The spear thrust through the air, colliding with the silver-haired ancestor's Qi in a tremendous explosion.

At the same time, Oba launched himself toward the burly ancestor, his claws glowing with dark energy. With a single swipe, he cleaved through the ancient cultivator's defensive barrier, sending the figure stumbling backward in shock.

"Pathetic," Oba sneered, his golden eyes flashing. "Your time has passed."

The remaining ancestor, the gaunt man with sunken eyes, looked on in horror as his companions faltered. His voice trembled as he raised his hands in an attempt to summon more Qi, but it was already too late. Kayode's spear shattered his defenses, and the phantom warrior's energy engulfed him in an explosion of light.

The sect master, seeing his ancestors fall one by one, snarled in fury. "No! You will not get away with this!" He raised his staff high, calling upon the power of the jade serpent formation once more. But it was clear he was already grasping at straws—his Qi flickered, weak from the overwhelming power of the earlier battles.

Oba landed gracefully beside Kayode, his golden eyes gleaming. "Is that all, sect master? How disappointing."

Kayode, his expression steely with determination, turned to face the sect master. "You're the one who thought you could crush me," he said, his voice cold and resolute. "Now you'll feel the consequences of your actions."

With a final, decisive swing of his spear, Kayode channeled the full force of his Nascent Soul, unleashing a devastating blast of energy. The sect master's protective array cracked, and the jade serpent formation shattered under the pressure.

As the dust settled, Kayode stood victorious, his breath heavy but filled with satisfaction. Oba, once again lounging lazily, watched the aftermath with a hint of approval.

"You did well," Oba said, his voice dripping with a hint of condescension. "But remember, it's not enough to win a battle. It's about making sure they never get up again."

Kayode nodded, his eyes narrowing with resolve. "I'll make sure they never threaten me again."

The Coiled Serpent Sect lay in ruins, its once-proud leaders and protectors defeated. But Kayode knew this was only the beginning. There were more challenges ahead, more powerful foes to face.

And he would be ready.
