Chapter9: Barred Entrance
Alaric looked at the kneeling figure in front of him. It was a black knight, completely adorned by a full set of armor.

- Active Skill 1 - Doom Blade - Coat the sword with the element of darkness, sharpen it with killing intent. For the duration of 10minute, all sword attack will deal extra damaga, a small chance to apply Fear status. Cooldown: 15minutes
-Passive Skill 1 - One with Darkness - When in the dark, all stats are increased by 25%.
- Passive Skill 2 - Against the Light - Deal extra damage to Light Element Entities but also receives extra damage from Light Element Entities.]
Alaric nooded in satisfaction after seeing the Avatar's stats. For a level 20 pull, this one was good enough. However he wanted more, he had made it as his goal, his next pull would be level 50. Glancing at the orange hue in the sky, he knew that night is coming. And his Avatar here would be even stronger.
Alaric was now at level 32, the two level he gained gave him a pitiful increase of 4 in all his stats. But, he knew that levels, in this world are just mere numbers. What matters is the person stats. Heck, a level 10 might even have higher stats than a level 20. And this, all of this were possible with UP.
All of the beast he had massacred from before were at level 10, giving him 240UP and 2400 EXP. He still had 165UP left, he wondered if he should increase his stats or buy something new.
"Follow me." Closing the interface panel in front of him, he beckoned the Avatar to follow him. It stand up from it's kneeling position, positioning itself behind him.
He walked forward with steady steps, while the Black Knight followed him like a dog's tail. Eventually, he reached the thin blue barrier.
"Stop. Unauthorized personnel are not allowed. Please take a step back and leave." As soon as he got close. A stern voice stopped him from his tracks.
"Uhm... I need shelter... " Alaric said, hoping to convince the guard to let him in.
"No unauthorized personnel. We are currently in a middle of Settlement War, no unknown person are allowed to go in. Unless you agree to be a slave, your entrance will be barred."
Alaric lips twitched at the response. He was looking for a place to sleep, not trouble. Realizing he won't be able to get in, he just decided to walk away. For others, outside of their Settlement alone was dangerous but for Alaric, it was the same as taking a stroll in the park.
As he walked away, his pondered about what the man said. "Settlement War.... how foolish." He felt it was stupid of them to go in a war against each other. Humanity in this world, is threatened by beasts yet instead of uniting and standing together, they are at war.
It seems they can't settle their differences even at the brink of extinction. "Haa... What a pain in the neck." He grumbled. He was hoping to enter that place, gain allies so that his future hunts will be easier. Well, not that he needs help.
Alaric know this himself, he isn't a good fighter. He had made many mistakes, mistakes that could potentially lead to his death. Against those boss level beasts, if he wasn't stronger than them by a huge margin, he would have had a hard time. Since he can't rely on other humans, he'll need to rely on summoned Avatars.
"Maybe it's possible to buy skills related to fighting?" He wondered, directly opening the Shop interface panel.
He went inside in what appear to be a hotel, looking for a good room to rest. Along the way, he was still looking for combat related skills, and he had found a few.
In the second floor, he found a good room. It was still intact, the bed is still there. Laying down on it, he looked at his interface and the things be planned to buy.
- Memory Orb of Hand to Hand Combat - Contains all the knowledge of hand to hand combat. Cost: 50 UP
- Memory Orb of Basic Sword Fighting - Contains knowledge of basic sword fights. Cost: 20 UP
This two in front of him were both artifacts. It will give him knowledge but not experience. For now, this is good enough for him. In addition, he had bought a few other things.
- Minor Mana Regeneration - Regenerates 10 Mana every minute. Cost:5UP
- Freeze Breath - Envelopes a rectangular area, upto 3 meters wide and 10 meters length from the caster. Enemies in the area will have their speed reduced by 60%, weaker enemies having a chance to be freezed. Mana Cost:300| Cost:20 UP
- Wild Fire - Summons a huge wild fire that spreads fast. Mana Cost:200 |Cost:15 UP
- Light Flash - Envelopes the caster with binding light, capable of blinding nearby enemies. Mana Cost: 100| Cost:5 UP
- Heal - Instantly regenerate 25% of HP. Mana Cost:100 | Cost:5 UP
- Aura Suppression - Envelopes a wide 15 meter with the caster aura, slowing and weakening all enemies in range. Range and aura strength will be determined by the Mental stat. Mana Cost: 50 per seconds | Cost: 20 UP
- Accelerate - Temporarily increase the caster speed by 30%. Mana Cost: 20 Mana per seconds | Cost:3 Up
And.... Alaric painfully watched as his UP dropped down drastically from his spending. He bought mainly AoE spells just in case he got overwhelmed with numbers.
Another thing he found odd was that he doesn't feel hungry or thirsty, which is really strange. He stood up from his bed, beckoning the Black Knight to get into a fight stance. He was going to practice those Hand to Hand Combat and Basic Sword Knowledge he had received from those memory orbs. He was going to train the whole night without sleeping.
