I wake up in a vehicle, it seems to be a van, and the strangest part is that it appears to be tipped over. This is the only scene I perceive, as it's dimly lit, and I notice someone near me, crawling towards me. As they get closer, I see a boy, and for some reason, I think I am his girlfriend because he leans in to kiss me.
I'm still dazed, not fully understanding what's happening, but during this kiss, I fully wake up. I push him away with all the strength I have at that moment, and he falls backward.
Then, like a madman, as if he were the offended party, he starts complaining.
"What's going on? Are you crazy? Why are you pushing me like that?"
While the boy keeps his distance, I'm still disoriented, trying to make sense of the situation. With my eyes half-closed, still processing everything, I respond in a calm but firm tone:
"You... don't... know where you are, do you? What happened to you?"
My voice is soft, but there's a coldness to it that doesn't match the confusion of the moment. I stand there, observing the young man, but I don't fully understand why he's there.
"Are you crazy? Why did you push me like that? Are you sick? Don't you recognize me anymore?"
I look at him, I've never seen him before, still dazed, trying to process his words. The headache and the chaos around me make me confused, but I manage to respond with a more assertive tone, trying to push away the mental fog.
"I... don't know what you're talking about. I don't know you."
I look around, trying to understand what's happening.
"What's happening to us? Where are we?"
"Don't change the subject. Aren't you my girlfriend? Then who are you? There's just the two of us here. What would I be doing with a stranger if you weren't my girlfriend? Can you explain that to me?"
I take a step back, looking at the boy with even more confusion. A feeling that something is wrong washes over me, but my mind is still hazy. I try to compose myself, focusing on the situation.
"I... am not your girlfriend!"
My voice comes out a little louder, more firm, trying to convey the seriousness of what I'm saying.
"I don't know who you are, and I don't know what happened here. I don't remember anything, but I'm sure I'm not your girlfriend."
I look around with a worried expression.
"I think we need to understand what's happening before... anything else."
"I think you're right, this van is strangely tipped over."
The young man finally starts acting normally.
"Where are we? It's so dark. Hey, do you have any idea what we're doing here, how we got here, and what's your name?"
I close my eyes for a moment, trying to remember, but my mind is a blank. I look at him, feeling a slight tension in the air, before responding.
"I... I don't know. I don't remember how we got here or how the van tipped over. I only know that my name is Lauane."
My voice is softer, as if I'm still trying to comprehend the situation, and my eyes meet the boy's, searching for any familiarity in this bizarre situation.
"I... don't know what's happening."
He stammers.
"Wow, now that I think about it, it's giving me goosebumps. We're not in a regular van. Hey, Lauane, this is an ambulance. How on earth did we end up in a vehicle like this? How did I get into an ambulance? Are you a nurse by any chance?"
I look at the boy with a confused expression, trying to piece together this strange situation. The idea of an ambulance scares me a little, but at the same time, it feels familiar.
"I... am not a nurse. I'm not sure what I'm doing here. But if it's an ambulance... that's strange. I... I don't remember any of this. I only know that I shouldn't be here with you, especially in a place like this."
My voice cracks slightly, revealing my uncertainty about what I've said.
"But you... you seem to know something, maybe more than I do."
The boy says, showing even more confusion than me.
I tense up, trying to stay silent, and my heart races as I hear the creaking of the trees. The sound is strange, as if something is about to give way. My eyes widen with the tension of the moment.
"Stop! Don't move!"
I shout, my voice filled with urgency and panic.
"The van... it's going to tip over again if you move! Please stay still!"
I feel my body tense with nervousness as I watch the trees move slowly around us, as if the impact were only the beginning of something much more dangerous.
"Oh, I can't believe this. What kind of situation are we in? At least I found this flashlight."
Then the foolish boy turns on the flashlight and keeps it steady, illuminating my face, which startles me and blinds me momentarily.
I can't help but scream as I'm blinded by the flashlight's beam, my eyes stinging, and I immediately turn away, feeling a flush of heat rise to my face. But then, the flashlight's movement, which shifts down to my legs.
Deep down, I know it was an accident, but I get angry just thinking about what else it might have illuminated, given that I'm wearing a miniskirt. This obviously makes me even more uncomfortable. Anger mixes with frustration, and I feel exposed and out of control.
With sudden rage, I kick the flashlight hard, sending it flying to the other side of the van.
"You can't control that, can you?" I say angrily, trying to hide my discomfort.
"Be more careful next time!"
But what happens next scares me even more. The boy's reaction could not be worse. Not wanting to be in the dark, he goes after the flashlight, causing the van to sway and threatening to plummet down the tree.
His movement towards the flashlight makes the van rock, and finally, the van starts to descend.
The feeling that the tree below is about to give way sends a chill down my spine. The ground seems to give way beneath our feet.
"Are you crazy?!" I scream desperately. "What have you done? We're going to die here!"
Then the van begins its deadly descent towards the ground, and we don't even know how far it is, but that's the least of our worries because we'll soon find out.
