If anyone had said that one day a member of the Dawnbringer Clan would be doing mundane things like picking up herbs and doing other menial tasks, they would've been hit for saying something so disrespectful about the great clan.
Armaros couldn't help but chuckle as he worked and gathered the necessary herbs. It has been a week since he had become an adventurer and has been taking on E rank quests and for the most part he was okay with it.
He collected herbs and other plants, gathered ores for the guild a few times and small time jobs that no one took. But he didn't mind it as it allowed him to take life more easily as he wasn't pressured to do anything more.
He returned to the guild building as he went to the counter and placed the bag filled with herbs as Rhia smiled as she looked at him.
"Thank you for your hard work." Rhia said with a smile as she took the herbs, did the registration for the quest and gave him the money.
"Any more quests?" Armaros asked her curiously as he wanted to do more and get more money.
"Are you sure?" Rhia asked in slight surprise.
"Yeah, I want to do more." Armaros said to her with a serious face.
'For a child, he acts very mature compared to others his age.' Rhia thought to herself as she looked at him.
"Well, you can check the available quests, if there is an E rank quest, you can take it." Rhia said to him as she gestured to it.
"Sure." Armaros said as he followed her words.
He looked through the quests and found one which was about searching for a boy and he thought about why it was an E rank quest, which confused him as he thought that it should be higher.
He then took the quest sheet and went to the counter as he gave it to Rhia as she took it with a smile, though she paused and read it as she frowned at the quest before she looked at him.
"Are you sure you want to take this? I mean, this is a quest for finding another person." Rhia said to him as she didn't want to make things difficult for him.
Especially since this is about finding a mission person, a child no less who is of 8 years old.
"I'm sure. Besides, the child went missing in the nearby forest. If I can't find the child, then I will come back." Armaros said to her as she hesitantly nodded at that.
"Alright, have a good time on your quest." Rhia said as she smiled at him.
"Thank you." Armaros said to her before he left the guild building.
Rhia sighed as she watched him go as she looked at the rest of the Adventurers who were in the Guild building as they were enjoying their time talking, eating and drinking and so on and so forth.
'Why can't one of them take the quest? Why does a child have to take it, even if seeing children like that is normal and all...' Rhia said as she sighed from her place.
"Is there some kind of problem Rhia?" The worker on her right asked as the girl looking at the mentioned girl.
"It's just that I'm surprised that Armaros is the one to take that quest. He's still a kid you know." Rhia said to her friend as she sighed.
"We can't do anything about it. The best we can do is make sure that the adventurers come back safe and sound." Her friend said to her with a smile as they were free for the moment.
Armaros had left the city walls and was now making his way to the forest where the child was said to have gone missing. He guessed that the child must be from either the middle or lower classes in the city.
'In any case, I'm kind of disappointed that none of the adventurers in the city had taken the quest.' Armaros thought to himself as he was nearing the forest as it took a while as he walked there.
He reached the outer side of the large forest as he sighed to himself and gripped his bag and pulled out his sword as he entered the forest path as he looked at the quest sheet and at its information.
He walked through the forest as he kept his senses sharp as he silently made his way through it. He was ready for any sudden appearance from either animals or monsters as he remembers the details of the quest.
'If I remember it right, the child disappeared ahead or so.' Armaros thought to himself as he realised that he was coming close to the area.
While the full details regarding the circumstances of the disappearance are not known to him, he does know that it was in the area ahead of him that the child disappeared, the reason for it? Well he has no idea about that.
He cautiously made his way through the forest and into the general area where the child was said to have disappeared as he made his way through the place. He kept on observing as he walked around the inside of the forest as he tried to find some clues to the child.
'Actuall, there aren't any animals in this part of the forest, are there?' Armaros thought to himself as he saw a distinct lack of fauna in the area, he couldn't even feel any small animals or birds with his Mana.
"Something is wrong here." Armaros said as he stalked his way through the forest as he gripped his sword.
He observed his surroundings as he made his way when he abruptly stopped as he felt something below the ground in front of him as he narrowed his eyes.
It felt like something that is against his very being is under the ground in front of him as he placed his left hand on his chest as if he was near something that is his antithesis.
'Wait, I think I remember hearing about this...' Armaros thought to himself as his eyes widened for a bit.
He remembered his mother telling him and the rest of his siblings about it, well, except for Fleur and Valeria as they weren't told about it since they were deemed too young to know about it yet.
'Well, either there is a demon here or something which has demonic energy.' Armaros thought to himself as he frowned as he walked forward.
"Considering the fact that I'm only feeling a bit of this feeling, it's probably not that strong. Well, I have this teleportation spell scroll so if it's a problem I will use it." Armaros muttered to himself as he then hissed as he used his Mana to sense his surroundings.
His eyes landed in a part of the ground which has traces of a type of energy which was opposed to himself. He never had any experience with demonic energy but considering what he had been told about by his mother and the information he got from the library, he guessed that it was what he felt.
He went near the place and called onto his Mana as he used it to investigate the energy and found a magical formation as he narrowed his eyes as he pushed through the pain he was feeling as he found the source of the Demonic energy which was buried deep in the ground as his eyes narrowed as he found a room underground.
"That place." Armaros said as he checked his things out one at a time.
Meanwhile inside the room the child, who is a boy, was floating in front of a scabbard which was exuding demonic energy as magic had secured the boy as the scabbard glowed ominously with the dark, purplish energy radiating off of it.
"Kill... Kill... Kill..." A demonic voice came from the scabbard as the energy exuding out of it started to move towards the child.
The energy started to surround the child and his clothes was starting to disappear from the energy as some of the boys skin was also starting to get destroyed.
Though there were several magical seals on the scabbard, it wasn't enough to hinder it fully as it was slowly starting to kill the child.
*Shake* *Crack*
The place started to shake after a few moments and the ceiling cracked, though the scabbard didn't notice as it was fully absorbed in killing the child.
But the ceiling cracked and broke as Armaros fell out of the hole he had dug as he landed on the ground and saw the said child and scabbard as his eyes widened.
"Is that demonic energy?" Armaros said in surprise as he was able to finally feel it face to face.
It felt really different from the Mana and Holy Energy he felt whenever he used Holy Light, which caused him to gulp down some saliva as he looked at it.
"I don't have time." Armaros said as he created a sphere of Holy Light and sent it hurling towards the scabbard.
The sphere disrupted the Demonic energy which was used by the scabbard as it served to held the child as the hold on the child was severed as he dashed forward and managed to catch said child.
Only for him to feel his instincts flare as he looked in front of him as the Demonic energy shot from the scabbard towards them as he threw the child to left side and created a shield using magic.
But that didn't help much as he was sent flying from the force with which he was hit by the scabbard as he was shot from the ground and into the wall as he gasped from the hit.
He landed on the floor and looked at the scabbard as it was releasing a lot more demonic energy as it felt like it was aiming for him, which he guessed was true.
'Well, this will be interesting.' Armaros thought to himself as he grumbled at the fact that he will have to fight a demonic scabbard.
