Chereads / A Cursed Reincarnation / Chapter 15 - 15. Return with a boy

Chapter 15 - 15. Return with a boy

Getting back to the town with an 8 year old child on his back was quite hard, especially since he had been thrown into a wall by the scabbard which has now entered his body, and he is unable to get it out, especially since he doesn't know what will happen if he does manage to get it out.

He isn't well versed in the mystical arts and he certainly doesn't want to mess with a demonic scabbard which is literally inside his own body so he just decided to take the child back.

He was stopped at the gate but when he showed the quest sheet and since the guards have become used to seeing him since he would regularly leave the town to complete quests, they let him go as he made a beeline for the guild.

He kicked the door open as he walked inside, getting the attention of the people inside, as many went back to their own things when they saw that it was him, though some were curious and worried about the child on his back.

"You're back already?" Rhia said in surprise as she saw him, though her eyes widened when she saw the child on his back.

Armaros got to the counter as he placed the child on the chair beside one of the table as he looked at her.

"I got the child." Armaros said as he gave her the quest sheet.

"I can see that. Are you okay?" Rhia asked as she saw his light armor which is dented.

"I'm fine. Though it was a hassle to get the boy." Armaros said to her as he looked at the child.

"Where did you find him?" Rhia asked after she gave a letter to one of the staff.

"In the forest, though it looked like he was held by a monster I had never seen before. But it went away after I fought it. No idea why it did though, but I'm glad it did." Armaros said to her as he looked at the boy.

"I see. Can you wait here, I think his parents would like to meet their son's saviour." Rhia said to him as he nodded and went and sat by the table where he had placed the boy.

He bought a juice to drink as he looked at his armor. While his armor isn't much, since he doesn't want it to be heavy, that attack he had got was quite painful, and due to the nature of his armor, it was dented due to the fight.

'I am gonna have to either repair it or buy a new one.' Armaros thought to himself as he looked at his armor.

He drank his juice while the other adventurers minded their own business, though some were curious about the child, but after asking the receptionists their curiosity was sated and went about their own things.

"Hey kid, good job on completing the quest." A man said to Armaros as he looked at the man.

"Uh, thanks." Armaros said a bit hesitantly as the man walked away after looking at the child for a few seconds.

A female adventurer came and rubbed the head of the child gently so he didn't do anything and just kept on drinking his juice slowly as he waited.

Soon two people entered the guild building, a man and woman as they were walking with guild building with anxious faces as Rhia went and met with them and brought them to the table.

"My son." The mother said in shock as she ran to the child and hugged him.

The man came to her side and looked at the his child with his wife as they held their child and tried to wake him up, but then grew concerned when he didn't wake up.

"He's not waking up." The mother said as she tried to wake her child.

"Let me try." The man said as he tried to wake up his child.

But it was the same as the child didn't wake up as it started to scare the parents while Rhia and Armaros started to become worried about the child now.

"Um, Armaros, the child isn't waking up. Did you notice anything different?" Rhia asked him as she turned to him.

"I thought he was too tired to wake up, so I didn't bother and just wanted to make it back." Armaros said to the receptionist as she looked at the family.

Some of the adventurers also looked at the courplas as they heard the slight commotion as Rhia turned to the couple.

"Why don't you take the child to the church? Also Armaros, I think you should also go to the church, just in case." Rhia said to him as he frowned at that.

"No, I don't feel anything wrong with me." Armaros said to her with a shrug as he drank his juice.

"Come on, don't be like that. I just want to make sure that you are fine." Rhia said as she grabbed his arm.

'I don't want to go to the Church because there is a demonic scabbard inside of me!?' Armaros thought to himself as he was pulled up by her.

"Come on, going to the church has never hurt anybody. Besides, you're a child. I'm not going to let you just go after coming back like this. Especially since that child is like that." Rhia said as she pointed to the parents who were taking their child with them and left the guild.

Armaros groaned as he reluctantly followed her, as he knew that resisting to go to the Church would be a bad thing considering how important the Gods are to humanity as he was pulled by her.

They left the guild and went to the Church which was a grand cathedral with many members of the church working around there, which includes the knights and clergy as they walked inside.

They saw the couple talking with a nun and explaining the situation to her as they held their child and were crying.

"P-Please just wait, I have to inform the father about this." The nun said as she went away to do what she said.

The couple held their child as Armaros and Rhia waited behind them as some minutes later the nun returned with a man dressed in priest clothing as the older man looked at the couple.

"What has happened to the child?" The man asked the couple.

"We don't know father. Our son had gone missing at the forest and an Adventurer had brought him back, but he isn't waking up." The mother said with tears in her eyes.

"Hmm. Go and bring the priestess immediately." The priest said to the nun as she nodded and went away.

"M-My Lord, please wake up my son." The woman said as she held her child.

"Do not worry, the priestess will be here soon." The priest said to her as he tried to placate her.

"How strong is a priestess?" Armaros asked Rhia as he felt curious at that.

"The priestesses are fairly strong and are some of the strongest magic users in the church. They have high importance in the church as well due to this." Rhia said to him seriously.

"What about the priest? Can't he do anything?" Armaros asked her as he looked at the man.

"The priests are mostly busy with running the church and often do not have the time to become stronger. The nuns on the other hand have more time while the clerics work with the priests to run the Church." Rhia said to him as he raised an eyebrow at that.

"What about the knights?" Armaros asked her curiously.

"Well, the knights can be divided into those who work for the church and those who work for the nobility. The knights of the church are quite strong warriors and have the capability to fight C rank Adventurers at minimum." Rhia said to him seriously.

"They must be pretty strong." Armaros said as he looked at the knights inside the church.

"They are. The knights are the church's military and there have been times when they would fight the nobles as well. But it's best not to bring that up." Rhia said as she whispered to the boy as he nodded at her words.

The priest at this time noticed the two as he walked towards them as the guild members stood straight, well on Rhia's case, but Armaros stood in his normal posture as he observed the man.

"And who are you two?" The priest asked as he looked at the two of them.

"I'm Rhia, a guild receptionist. And this is Armaros, a newbie adventurer who had recently joined the guild. He was the one who brought the child back and I wanted to make sure that he is fine so I brought him here." Rhia said as she looked at the man with respect.

"I see. Do you know why the child isn't waking up?" The priest said as he looked at Armaros.

"No sir. I don't have any idea." Armaros said with a shake of his head.

"Well, once the priestess comes, we will be able to find the cause. After that she can take a look at you." The priest said in a calm tone as he looked at them and took note of Armaros's dented armor.

"Thank you for your generosity father." Rhia said as she bowed to the man who just nodded before he went to talk with some nuns.

'Well, this will either go poorly or horrendously for me.' Armaros thought to himself as he looked at his chest as he made plans to run out.

"That's good to hear. We'll be able to see if you have any problems quickly." Rhia said with a smile as she had no idea about his thoughts.

"Thanks I guess." Armaros said as his head was rubbed by Rhia who didn't object and let her do as she pleased.

'I should make some plans just in case.' Armaros thought to himself as he started to come up with some escape plans out of the Church.
