"Ok, are the two of you ready "Makarov asked as he looked at both of them. Akira and Macao both gave a nod of confirmation to his question.
" Okay, then I declare the duel begins. " Makarov said as he quickly backstepped to get away from their fight.
As his words fell Akira dashed towards Macao with his wooden sword. Macao seeing him approaching activated his magic.
Purple flames began to come out of his hands and rushed towards Akira in an attempt to bind him. Unlike Natsu's flames which leave only destruction, Macao can actually control his flames so it won't burn anyone.
So he didn't have any hesitation as he used his magic. This is also another reason why Makarov asked him to be the person who tests Akira. Since Macao can control his flames fully there would be no injuries on the kid.
Akira dodged the purple flame whip easily. For someone who could practically be called a mind reader this type of attack is not worth mentioning. Especially since Macao is still holding back quite a bit.
Although Macao complained a lot he actually took this assessment very seriously. His first attack was so that he could test Akira's limits and combat experience.
Depending on Akira's next move Macao could formulate his combat strategy to bring out everything Akira's true capabilities.
And Akira knew this. That's why he decided to show off a little. " Drago Twister " Akira shouted as he channeled his magic power into the wooden sword and swung it at Macao. A small tornado with the shape of a dragon was formed and it rushed toward Macao at an impressive speed.

The tornado crashed into the purple flame and made a huge explosion that cracked the ground. Dust flew everywhere making everyone who was spectating unable to see what was truly going on.
This is especially true for so Macao as he couldn't find Akira at all. He knew that blast didn't hurt him as his shield absorbed most of the impact. So the only explanation is that Akira is going to go for another attack.
As these thoughts passed through Macao's mind he suddenly heard Akira's voice behind him, " Dragon's fang ".
Turning around Macao saw that Akira had somehow managed to get behind him and was swinging his sword at him. As a veteran, it only took Macao a split second to make his next move. " Purple ring "Macao chanted as a ring made out of purple flames was formed with him as the center.
The ring blocked the incoming sneak attack as the sword bounced away. Seeing this is his chance Macao shouted, " Purple Whip "
The purple flame ring quickly turned into a whip that Macao quickly took hold up and swung at Akira. Akira barely managed to deflect the whip attack.
Although he could hear Macao's thoughts and could see his next move his body had to be strong enough for him to react that fast. And what's more, Macao clearly has more experience in close combat than him.
So in no time, Akira was at a disadvantage. Although his swordsmanship is enough to contend with Macao's whip he was slowly getting tired. His body is still that of a six-year-old even with his dragon blood.
' It seems I need to try something a bit risky ' Akira thought. Although Makarov said that he and Sera had activated their magic powers what he didn't know is that Akira actually didn't fully awaken his magical talent. The magic power he is using is the residual magic power his dragon blood has granted him.
Unlike humans Dragons have their magic power unlocked at birth. Although Akira has dragon blood in him his human trait is still dominant. So that's why instead of fully awakening his magic source it only partly awakens.
So what Akira was trying to do was fully awaken his magic course for him to fully activate his cheat ability the customized Take over magic.
With the knowledge Akira got from all the books in Irene's storage space, he could awaken his magic source by himself. The only reason he didn't do it was because of his age. The minimum age for someone to learn magic is age 7. Or else there would be cases such as Laxus and Ultear who had too much magic power for their bodies to handle.
But just as he was about to do it he heard Sera's warning, " Akira that's enough. Don't you dare try to do what you were going to do ".
Hearing this froze in his tracks and looked at Sera with a gaze that screamed 'How did you know
Sera snorted and said, "What, I'm the person who took care of you for six whole years. Of course, I could understand what's going on in your small brain. And also Should you really be distracted right now "
' oh shit ' Akira thought as he suddenly remembered what he was doing. And before he could turn around or he was sent flying away by Macao's purple flame whip.
" Arrgg" Akira groaned as he landed on the ground. He looked at Macao hatefully. This guy didn't keep his strength at all.
Feeling the resentment coming from Akira Macao didn't feel any guilt. In fact, he even had a smile on his face. In Fairy Tail, you need to get beaten up or beat up the others to truly bond with each other.
So most often best friends would fight each other while others would join in on the fun.
" You bastard " Akira cursed silently as he dashed towards Macao again. If Sera wouldn't allow him to unlock his magic then he would have to fight the old-fashioned way.
Fight until your body collapses.
And so Akira began to attack Macao violently. Making him put in more effort to defend himself. Akira completely abandoned all restraints and attacked Macao until he collapsed unconscious.
Seeing the results Makarov was very satisfied. Although Akira lost at the end Makarov could see the untapped potential he had. After he mastered some offensive spells would be the moment Akira could fight truthfully.
" Ok, now it's your turn Sera. " He said as he turned to look at the cat who was petting Akira's head while giving him a lap pillow to reward him for his efforts.
" ok, " Sera said as she stood up and dusted her maid uniform.
" Can you still go on or would you rather take a break first? " She asked as she looked at Macao.
" Don't worry I didn't spend that much mana on the previous battle" He waved his hand dismissing her worries. Although he used many flashy moves earlier in reality he didn't spend much mana to cast the spells.
" Alright then " Sera nodded and bowed a little like a true maid and said, "Please go easy on me ".
" The same, " Macao said with a nervous smile. Although Sera didn't make a move her whole presence changed drastically after giving that bow.
If earlier she was like a harmless cat now she is like a deadly blade that is almost out of its sheath.
The pressure she is releasing makes Macao very nervous. He could tell that this fight would be very hard.
" Alright both of you start after this coin hits the ground," Makarov said as he took a coin from his pocket.
And without any hesitation, he tossed the coin and before it could even hit the ground Makarov disappeared and came near Akira.
Just like Macao, he could feel the change in Sera. So that is why he came near Akira so he could protect him from stray bullets.
This match is no longer something a kid like him could watch without getting hurt in the process.
