'Red eyes slowly reveal themselves from darkness. At that time, Leonard froze at his step, his mind went blank as he stare back at those murderous red eyes. His body felt cold, he shiver. He couldn't move. This creature is dangerous, that's what his instincts told him.
A shiny silver horns caught his attention. He couldn't look away from it. He didn't even notice the human-like black buffalo, and its clawed hands appearance. This creature is called Behemoth, the one who evokes fear.'
Sein, at that moment, finally understood what Leonard felt. The body he lose command of. His every cells that's being engulfed by fear. For once again, he felt helpless.
Sein tighten his mouth, cursing in mind. His fear was replaced by anger yet his face remain expressionless. For that, he knew he doesn't like this thing. He look away from Behemoth and using all of his strength, he prick his lap with the nails he was glad he hadn't cut off yet.
The pain surge through his whole body, making it ten times painful than it should be.
He cast a spell. The shadows swallow him whole, hiding him from Behemoth sight. He teleport above the tree behind the Behemoth.
Taking a deep breath, he calm himself down.
He place his hand to his mouth, covering it. 'Behemoth, it was only as strong as a normal human being but its main skill of casting their opponents to fear is what makes it dangerous,' He noted.
'The only way to break away from its skill, is to have strong mentality or have a strong distraction to pull yourself away from it,' He turn off his magic, holding into the tree branch to keep himself from falling. 'Its skill also makes wounds ten times painful than it should, It was one annoying cheat skill that covers its physical weakness,'
"Heal," He cast, his wound was slowly healing, however, its improvement was unnoticeable.
'Sienna was lucky to have healing magic even though it was impossible for dark magic user to have one, even if it was weak,' He looked at his bloodied right hand. His shadows, moves on its own and clean the blood in his body. 'However, I couldn't deny the creepiness of what's might his true power origin could be,'
He stare at it, then back to the Behemoth. Clearing his thoughts from any distraction.
He split the branch he was holding, getting the creature's attention. Before it could look at him, Sein teleported to its back and quickly kick it behind its knees, strong enough for the Behemoth to lose balance.
He raise the branch with both of his hands. He use all of his strength to pierce the Behemoth's eyes.
It roar in pain, swinging its hand towards Sein. Sein chest was marked by three claws. Blood and pieces of clothes splatter in front of him.
It wasn't deep, but it was wide enough to cover his chest. Only his skin was rip off, but its wide wound exposed to the cold air was unbearable pain.
He ignores it. He takes out the branch, raising it high again. His shadow wrapped around the Behemoth, suppressing its movement.
Sein could hear the other creatures approaching with a loud footsteps and hissing. Surely, the Behemoth load roar attracted this crowd. Monsters eat its own kind.
He greeted his teeth together. And once again with all of his strength, he pierce the Behemoth core located on its heart.
"Fuck!" He curse. His piercing was too shallow, it didn't even comes close to its core.
The Behemoth roar loudly once again, struggling to get out of Sein's shadow grasp even harder.
The footsteps and hissing was getting louder.
Their numbers was obviously huge by how loud it was.
'Damn it... I should have least stolen some kitchen knife...' Sein realize his naivety. The thought of his magic alone will make him survive made him a fool. He overestimated his body's ability.
Novel and reality was different. Some things in the novel can never happened in real life. What's seems easy in novel was actually hard in real life. He comes to understand that, he was no novel protagonist with plot armor and overpowered ability.
The weak monster he had encounter inside of the duke's mansion made him arrogant of his abilities. He was dumb to believe he was strong.
He close his eyes. Time slow for a moment. He counted numbers, making his breath pace more calmer.
If he is being honest, he doesn't want to give up on killing the injured Behemoth.
'But,' He let go of the branch and took a step back. 'I'm still curious what kind of life I'm going to experience here,'
His eyes shone, he cast a teleporting magic.
At the same time, a crowd of monster arrive.
He didn't stop to look at it.
He continue to use his last ounce of mana.
The shadow shallow him whole, taking him away from death.
-
Sein collapse on the floor. He groan in pain after his open wound touch the wooden floor. He manage to teleport back to his room.
Mana deficiency tire him out. He slowly tilt his head up, glaring at his door. His vision blur a little. His head felt heavy.
His body was shaking as he push himself to move. He still somehow got himself to lay in his back. He let out another groan of pain.
The healing magic he cast earlier was still working, that's what tiring him even more. What worse is he doesn't know how to stop it, he only learn how to use magic. The novel he reads never stop the magic when it was cast. There's no moment like that in it.
It was stupid. Why won't the creator write more fighting scenes with all sorts of thing.
It's so stupid.
He's stupid.
His brain probably got degraded when he died.
That's why he became stupid.
He close his eyes tightly shut. He wanted to slap himself for being such a fool. He's annoyed that he doesn't even has the strength to do that.
His mental strength was also getting weaker with tiredness of his body.
He doesn't even know that he had lose his consciousness.
He hope that he won't die by the morning, or be discovered half dead on the floor. That will be hard to solve if that's the case tomorrow.
