Going to the academy was a concern Jung had for ages. Lisa and Baki pestered him more than once, but his opinion stayed firm.
'There is nothing that can make me go there, especially with some snobbish brats—it's just asking for a headache.'
Out of his past 12 lives, he had attended the academy five times. It was nothing more than a chore, filled with boring studies he didn't enjoy, and leaving this place and the plans he had didn't feel right.
Memories from his tenth life surged in his mind. He was a Caregiver back then. Not only did he have to care about others, but he also tried to be selfless, kind, and understanding with anything and anyone.
However, he found himself in a dilemma, with a concern and a question: Was he a genuine caregiver, or was he simply acting?
It was his 10th life, and countless experiences furnished his personality, making it hard to distinguish between authentic and fake.
He didn't care about others. People around him didn't deserve his compassion or his care, yet he did it anyway.
At the end of that life, he didn't find the answer he was looking for. Not even now could he tell, but he never betrayed his archetype principles.
He lived. He acted, but Jung never changed his ways.
This time, he was back to his rebel side, and yet again, he lived within his creeds.
Action before the words. Question everything. The end justifies the means. Annihilate to fix.
There was much more, but those four statements kept repeating in his mind as Jung watched his parents and stood ready to rebel against them.
"We had this conversation already," he said, still embracing them.
Lisa was the first to release Jung from her hands. She examined the boy and said with an all-knowing smile, "I know you are up to something, my child."
Jung wanted to respond, but Baki cut his words. "Just because you have this adorable kitty, it won't stop us from being concerned about you," he said and pointed at the cat, who was chilling next to them.
'I knew it,' Jung pondered. 'They can't be swayed that easily, not after what happened to Elara.'
Just because he understood them didn't mean he would obey. He was about to open his mouth and express his opinion when the system's voice echoed in his ear and her message popped up in his eyes.
[Agree to their request, and you will get a Hero archetype.] Her statement contained power and authority.
As she said that, Jung got confirmation in his quest section.
«Reward: You earn a Hero archetype.» 'Damn, that's good,' he thought and asked the system with his mind. 'I am not losing the rebel archetype, right?' [No.] The answer was short but precise. Jung considered a bit more. He looked his parents straight in the eyes, taking his time, until one more thought emerged. 'Why do I feel you need me to go there?' another question for the system. [You are half correct.] She didn't deny his accusations but had more to say. [You need to be in the academy as well.] Jung twitched his brows. 'What do you mean?' [Change is coming to the world, and you must be at its heart,] the system said with conviction. 'What are you talking about?' Jung was surprised as he believed Maskera had already transformed when players arrived; what else was left to happen? [I mean the real change. Something that was triggered when the gates opened,] she said in a demanding tone that still sounded like a suggestion. Jung didn't break eye contact with his parents, staring at them with his head jumbled with thoughts. After concluding, he giggled and said, "Okay, I am down." His words radiated confidence as he was sure of his decision. Baki and Lisa were taken aback. They were ready for arguments and quarrels before Jung gave up and joined the academy. To their pleasant surprise, he agreed out of nowhere and even looked content with his choice, which caused doubts and uncertainties because they knew Jung wouldn't act unless he wanted something. "What are you planning?" Lisa asked right away, examining the boy. "Nothing!" Jung chuckled at her reaction. "Geez, am I so untrustworthy?" Baki didn't waste a single second and said with a face devoid of any humour, "You are the most crooked child I know." Jung laughed again. "That's not something a parent should say to their heirs." "Shut your insolent mouth and come inside," Baki yelled and ran after him. After Jung tried to outrun his father but was beaten mercilessly, he got the system notification, indicating his success in completing the mission. [Quest III and Quest V Completed!] [You unleashed your second archetype.] [You get a bonus skill.] [Check your status!] "Finally!" he said, resting on his bed with Nero in his arms. ««Archetype System V3.0»» «Rewards: Unknown; Unknown; Finding yourself.» "Dude, that's long," Jung exclaimed, examining the modifications. [I am not a dude,] the system insisted, but she sounded too cute to argue. "I know," Jung smirked. "I know, you don't have to get mad about that." No additional remarks could be heard, so he checked his new skills. -Expanding persona energy, you can create barriers. "Sounds useful. Wonder how it works," he said and patted the cat. -You can mark two enemies… [%*S)00!] Jung was reading a skill description when a weak voice captured his attention, severing his connection with the system and vanishing the status window. [Sorry…]
