Chereads / Infinite Stratos: Operation BLAZE / Chapter 63 - chapter 63

Chapter 63 - chapter 63

IS Academy

Natasha was walking down the hallways of the Academy with Iris with her. She was showing her around, when the newly arrived blonde spoke up.

"Natasha, I want to ask you one more time if you're certain you can bring back our rogue agent? The only reason we sent you back here, was because you might be our last hope of bringing him back to our side. You and I both love the kid, but you know the government will stop at nothing to silence him, or even worse they could do 'that'."

"I know that, but still..." To say Natasha was uncomfortable with the current situation would be an understatement. She loved the so called rogue agent with all her heart, the years they had spent together as brother and sister had meant a lot for her, but she also loved her country.

"Ah is that Tina? Hey Tina!" Iris said as she spotted a familiar blonde hair girl.

"Huh? Natasha? Iris?!" The first year said as she spotted the two American pilots. Tina Hamilton was surprised by the presence of one of the United States' best pilots.

"Tina, come here! We have some a mission for you." Iris said.

"Hey, wait! That's only if we fail." Natasha stated.

"She needs to know in advance just in case."

"Know what?" Iris motion for Tina to come closer and she did. The ace pilot of the United States began to whisper in the school girl's ear. Tina began to turn an impressive shade of red.

"You want me to do what?!"

November 17, 2552, Earth.

In the Earth's atmosphere a massive battle raged on with the UNSC calling in all ships back to earth to fight against the invading covenant fleet. The UNSC had officially formed a temporary alliance with the Sangheili at least the threat of the halo array firing was dealt with.

A ship of unknown origin had appeared from slipspace and a section of said ship appeared to break off and landed in the rainforest near the base of mount kilimanjaro. A UNSC team was dispatched to learn what fell and they had so receive a message from the missing spartan Sierra-117 coming from the unknown ship and then from the location of the crash site.

Seth was deployed to the location along side Sergeant Avery Johnson and the Arbiter to recover the chief or what was left of him. Johnson stayed in the pelican and the Elite and Spartan duo got off and proceeded on foot to locate their missing ally. They located the chief's transponder and found the Sage green armor spartan in a nearby creator. Seth sensed with the force that the man was alive, just unconscious. Still it was impressive that the spartan was only knocked out from the fall from orbit. This Spartan armor was truly something special.

"Hey John, wake up." Seth said as he tapped on the Spartan's visor. The noise arose the Spartan from his slumber.

"John your luck is gonna give out one of these days." Seth said to the Spartan II. John noticed something hiding in active cameo. He grabbed Seth's magnum and placed the gun in the mandibles of Thel.

"Easy John, the Arbiter is with us." Seth said as he grabbed the gun from the Spartan.

"A lot has happen since you been out. Where's Cortana?" Seth asked as Blaze and Flame didn't detect the AI.

"She's on high Charity."

"I see. " Seth responded. He could tell that this was not sitting well with John. But the UNSC had much bigger things to deal with then rescuing one AI when the Covenant was at their door step.

"Sargent, we found him. He's alright. Standing by for pickup." Seth said over the radio as the group awaited for extract.

"Kid you may have to hold out a bit longer." In the background Seth could hear the sound of the pelicans being shot at with plasma weaponry, most likely Banshees.

"Sargeant? Are you still airborne? Sergeant?!" Seth asked trying to get Johnson to answer. Just then [B.L.A.Z.E.] and [F.L.A.M.E.] received emergency transponder from a down Pelican.

"Dammit he was shot down. John take control of the unit, I'm gonna find our missing friend." Seth said as he handed John his assault rifle and materialized [B.L.A.Z.E.]. The IS pilot took to the sky and began to look for the lost pelican crew.

After a 15 minutes of searching the young Spartan found the missing one of the Pelicans in a nearby lake. He could hear the sounds of gunfire and plasma rounds nearby him. He couldn't tell if it was John's group or Johnson's crew. He was about to fly towards the sound of the gunfire when he was suddenly locked on by three banshees.

As the Banshees opened fire on the black IS, [B.L.A.Z.E.] raised up a barrier and took the attack head on. As the Banshees got closers, they fired their banshee bombs in an attempt to break the barrier. It failed. Seth charged at the closest banshee and thrusted an energy blade straight through the cockpit killing the pilot instantly. He locked onto the other two with [B.L.A.Z.E.]'s missiles and unleashed a barrage of plasma bolts with the mini guns. The two Banshees were unable to avoid the incoming assault and exploded in a green blast.

With the Banshees dealt with Seth turned his attention back towards the sound of a gunfight. As he got closer to the source he found a dam and soon saw Johnson and a few marines being forced into a makeshift prison cell. The false Spartan contacted John and informed him of the situation and he had a plan. In [B.L.A.Z.E.] he would provide sniper support as John and the other would bust out the captive UNSC members.

After about 15 minutes John, Thel and the others arrived on the scene. Seth brought out [B.L.A.Z.E.]'s sniper rifle and found a good spot to shoot from. As John and Thel open fire on the Covenant forces, Seth began his own assault. He targeted the Jackals first s a few of them had beam rifles that would tear through John and Thel's energy shields. He saw one of the Brutes wielding a Gravity hammer and was charging at John. He quickly aimed at the Brute, but just as he pulled the trigger the Brute jumped and a jackal that was hiding, fired at Seth's rifle. The IS suit was capable of adjusting for the jump without Seth's interference, but the unexpected blast from the Jackal shifted the beam off course. It didn't hit the Brute, but it did hit the gravity hammer and knocked it out of the Brute's hand.

The Brute was momentarily shocked trying to process what just happened, but it was brought out of it's mind when it felt an immense pain in its abdomen. John struck the Brute in the stomach as it was confused about its surroundings. As the Brute was knocked back from the Spartan's augmented strength Thel charged from behind John and ignited his energy sword. He napped the blade of plasma into the guts of the Brute who wailed in pain as the Elite ended his life. With their commander dead, the remaining Covenant forces, mostly grunts, ran in terror, but they were swiftly hunted down. Just as they were about to free the captive UNSC member, two Phantom dropships arrived at the dam. But they were both hit by energy beams courtesy of [B.L.A.Z.E.].

With the captive members rescued, Seth called in another Pelican and they were transported to a nearby base. The Crow's Nest.

Several Minutes later, The Crow's nest.

As their Pelican reached the landing pad, Seth landed next to it and dematerialized [B.L.A.Z.E.] and appeared in his Grey Gen II prototype armor. The sight of Two Spartans walking down the hall of the base was a real morale boost. It meant Humanity was still fighting back.

"Hey. Check it out." An injured marine said.

"No way! Spartans?!" A second marine said.

"For real? You better not be..." A third marine said. In a recent firefight, he was blinded.

"No man, They're here! We're gonna be alright!" The second Marine Spoke.

The group soon met up with Commander Keyes who moved to met up with them.

"Where'd you find him, lieutenant?"

"Nearby the base of Mount kilimanjaro, Ma'am. He fell from orbit, but his armor kept him alive." Seth and John Saluted the commander.

"It's good to see you Chief." Keyes said.

"Likewise, ma'am." John said.

"Let's get you up to speed." Keyes said as she explained to John what happened within the last few weeks. The Covenant had broken past the Lunar perimeter and decimated much of the home fleet. There were massive amounts of terrestrial casualties. Truth and his forces began to dig up the ruins of New Mombasa. She also informed him that they stopped installion 05, but now Truth was looking for something called the Ark.

A technician informed Commander Keyes that they had been able to contact Lord Hood. The Fleet admiral informed the Spartans of a plan to deliver a knockout blow to Truth's forces. If they could knock the AA batteries protecting the excavation site, they could send in the last remaining ships and unleashed their wrath on the Forerunner dreadnought. But before they could discuss the plan more, the power was cut and the Covenant hijacked the transmission.

"You are, all of you, vermin. Cowering in the dirt, thinking what, I wonder? That you might escape the coming fire? No. Your world will burn until its surface is but glass! And not even your Demons will live to creep, blackened from its hole to mar the reflection of our passage... the culmination of our Journey. For your destruction is the will of the gods! And I? I am their instrument!" Suddenly the power returned.

"Cocky bastard. Just loves to run his mouth!" Johnson said. Seth thought about about Truth's word and realized their meaning.

"Ma'am!" Seth said.

"I know Spartan. Give the order, we're closing shop." Keyes said as the base was about to come under attack. Their main priority was to get the wounded out first, but this would take time. Miranda ordered the two Spartans to defend the base for as long as they can to get the Pelicans the needed time to evac the injured and the rest of the personal that were non-combative.

The Covenant came in waves, but they were unable to take the base before the UNSC was able to plant a bomb in the Crow's nest and set it off. Seth, John, and the Arbiter barely arrived inside an elevator before the blast went off. With the base destroyed the members that had to escape to the elevator had to find a way to Voi city. It wasn't too far from here and was designated as the retreat area in the event of a covenant attack on the Crow's nest.

"Hey John, I think these Warthogs still work." Seth said as he inspected the water fueled vehicle. It seemed to be in working order.

"We need to get moving quickly. Check your gear, we're moving out!" Seth ordered as the Marines and several sangheili warrior ready themselves for another fight.

The path toward the city of Voi was crawling with Covenant forces. Some UNSC forces that had escaped the attack on the Crow's nest were pinned down near a valley that was just off to the side of the destroyed highway.

"Dammit, these guys won't let up!" A marine stated as he was firing towards the advancing Covenant forces with his standard issue assault rifle.

"Uh guys I'm on my last mag." A second marine said.

"Catch!" A third marine said as he tossed a magazine towards his squad mate.

"Thanks, shit!" As the marine caught the mag, a Jackal shot him in the shoulder.

"He's hit! Left side! Left side!" A fourth marine, the team's medic, rushed towards the down soldier and saw that the covenant were flanking their left side. Just as all hope seem lost, they heard the sound of a warthog approaching. They soon heard the sound of a gatling gun firing, along with plasma fire and alien screams of pain.

The soldier witness a warthog carrying two Spartans and an elite unleash destruction upon the attacking Covenant forces.

The trio wasn't alone. Shortly after the trio arrived they were joined by several additional Warthogs, some were manned by Sangheili crews. The armored convoy luckily had more than enough room for this lone group of marines.

By the time they had arrived to Voi in their armored convoy, the entire city was under siege from the covenant. The armored convoy was going to have to fight their way through this one. As they reached the first of the locked down areas, Seth disembarked from his warthog and took an M90 Close Assault Weapon System with him, aka a shotgun. The 8-gage shotgun made clearing out the covenant forces in the tight corners fairly easy and the group could advance.

As the moved, they made it to a part of the base that was exposed. Just as they were passing through a Scarab arrived. It was arriving from a different section of the city had has been unable to damage the quad-pedal machine. It soon began to charge up it's main weapon, it's green energy projector.

"Scarab!" A marine shouted. Seth calmly walked forward and deployed his red I.S. He charged up the [M.A.C.] guns mounted on the machine and fired a single round into the attacking Scarab, before anyone was injured, much to the shock of both sides.

It did not take long for the trio to arrive at the location of the AA plasma battery. As expected, the covenant had placed a significant about of defensive forces here, but a few dozen rounds from [F.L.A.M.E.]'s grenade launcher finished the job fairly quickly.

"Lord Hood, the gun is down, send in the ships now!" Flame said over the comlink network.

"Understood." Lord Hood said as he began the second phase of his plan. He allowed the usage of MAC rounds in atmosphere.

"All ships: fire at will!" Three Charon-class light frigates arrived. Seth charged up [F.L.A.M.E.] [M.A.C.] guns and locked onto the forerunner dreadnought. The MAC guns fired several volley on the ancient ship, but much to the shock of anyone watching, the MAC guns had no effect.

Suddenly an energy pulse wave hit the area surround the area that the covenant had dug up, disabling the ships and shorted out [F.L.A.M.E.].

"Seth! Detecting a tear in space-time!"

"He's opening a portal?!" Seth shouted in his mind.

"What did truth do?! Did he activate the rings?" Lord hood asked over the radio.

"No, but he did something." Miranda said over the radio. As the dreadnaught flew into the portal, with dozens of covenant ships behind it, Thel let out a roar of anger and frustration.

"Evac wounded and regroup. Wherever Truth went-"

"Sir, new contact - slipping in!" Seth felt through the force the Flood aboard the Indulgence of Conviction emerged from slipspace.

"What is it? More Brutes?"

"Worse." John stated.

"Ma'am that ship was infested with flood, we need to move quickly before it's too late!" Seth said over the comlink with panic evident in his voice. A flood infection on a ring space station was one thing, but a whole planet filled with organic material was another.

"Find the crashed Flood ship; overload its engine core. We either destroy this city, or risk losing the entire planet." Miranda stated.

"Do it." Lord Hood added."

"Spartans Get in that ship."

"Understood ma'am, we gotta move now!" Seth said as he switched to [B.L.A.Z.E.] and used elemental shift. [B.L.A.Z.E.] changed color from her normal black and grey to red. Her wrist gained two flamethrowers and the visor on her changed to blue.

Meanwhile at IS academy.

Samus was currently sitting in class room 1-1. Second period had just ended and she was readying herself for the next class. As she was putting on her modified Zero suit, she allowed her mind to wonder. Things were starting to get a little shaky in a political sense, Many nations were interested in opening talk with the newly formed nation to discuss many things. Lelouch was dealing with post of the politics in Seth's absents, but there were something that had to be handle by her as a member of the royal family.

To be honest, politics were never her strong suit. If you needed some criminals hunted down, in her known galaxy, she's your woman. But all these negotiations were starting to get to her. Plus she had learned so much about the world's geopolitical problems. Like the recent outbreak of a civil war in India, which has many nations on edge, especially considering the fact India is a nuclear power. Another major issues, was the raise of what could be only describe as a dictator in Malaysia. Violence was on the rise and there were even talk of systematic elimination of political opponent.

The former Warsaw pact state of Romania was dealing with an insurrection within its eastern half. There were rumors of possible foreign aid on the part of the rebels, Lastly the most shocking event was the recent rise in violence from the drug cartels in Mexico. Since the 1980's the cartels have always been a problem in latin America, but recently the violence and death counts have risen drastically. It was getting to the point, where the Mexican government was barely holding itself together, The IIB (Imperial Intelligence Bureau) had learned two shocking facts. The first was that they had confirmed the usage of Infinite Stratos unit in Mexico, and secondly the United States was prepared to launch an invasion of the nation, if the situation continues.

Not to mention the Chinese government was building up its defenses on the newly reformed North Korea, which was in the middle of a democratic election for a new president and according to recent polling, many citizens were planning on a candidate that was pro-imperial. Which would mean both China and the South Korea would be weary of this new government.

She saw that she had a few minutes before the next class, which would be IS practice with classroom 1-4. She grabbed her phone and used the newly installed application to see what her husband was up to. After several seconds of establishing a link the lie feed began to play. She saw a massive space battle taking place over a huge space structure that looked like a flower. She wanted to continue viewing the feed, but she soon heard Chifuyu clearing her throat behind the former huntress. She quickly put her phone away as Chifuyu spoke.

"Alright, class, we're heading for arena 5, let's get a move on!" Soon the class moved to said arena to meet up with class 1-4.

Meanwhile with Seth, over the lesser Ark.

After John and the Arbiter had reached the flood infested ship, they had found a message from Cortana. It was heavily damaged, but they had also met up with 343 guilty spark. After deciding to take the monitor with them, black to shipmaster Rtas's ship the message was played. She said that High Charity was on its way to earth, with an army of flood, but there was hope. On the other side of the portal, was a solution to the flood. A way to end them all without activating the rings. Seth and John as well as the sangheili wanted to follow through with the plan and head through the portal, but Lord Hood was against it. They didn't have many forces left, and he wanted the UNSC to hold its last stand here on Earth, plus he was wary of the Sangheili considering they had just glassed half of Africa to contain the flood.

After some debate, Lord Hood allowed three Charon class ships to join the sangheili forces and deployed two Spartans. So after spending a few hours preparing, the Human-Sangheili entered the portal. On the other side they saw a massive Forerunner superstructure. This was what Spark called the Ark. They seen spotted the Covenant ships that entered the portal. They were outnumbered 3 to 1. Which meant it was a fair fight for the elites. Commander Keyes had deployed her forces to the ground, except for Seth, his task would be to assist that Sangheili fight off the covenant ships. Inside of [B.L.A.Z.E.] Seth was flying information with a squadron of Sangheili Banshees and Phantoms.

"Seth look out, incoming fighters!" Blaze said as she spotted a hundreds of Covenant small ships launching from the carriers.

"Human, we need to take out the defensive guns on the battlecruisers first. When the guns are down we can unleash our fury upon them." One of the Shadow of Intent bridge crew members said as he opened a channel of communication with the Spartan IV.

"Got it. Take out the guns then you guys blast them." Seth said as he changed his course and flew towards the closest battlecruiser. As he approached, the point defensive measures of the ship came to life, forcing Seth to weave around the incoming plasma.

Meanwhile on the Ground.

"Enjoy it while you can, Marines. Soon as we land, we're right back to it. Priority one: Secure a Landing Zone for the Commander's Frigate. Keep your eyes and ears open. We need all the Intel we can get... on wherever the hell we are." Avery Johnson said as his group saw up in the sky, the Milky Way galaxy. They were very far away from home. As soon as the Pelican touched down the Marines along with their Spartan II got off and began to look for a place to deploy their heavier ground forces.

Several Hours Later.

Seth had been targeting the guns on several dozen covenant ships and they had sunken 27 of the 30 ships, and not even one of the Sangheili ships was taken out. That was a true testament of the Sangheili ship's crew prowess in battle. Seth heard about Sergeant Johnson's capture by Truth. He knew that forerunner tech needed a human touch to be activated, but where they were holding Johnson, the citadel, was protected by a barrier. Luckily John and the Arbiter were nearly finished with disabling the last tower generator powering the shield. Once it was down, Rtas lowered the Shadow of Intent into the Ark's atmosphere and headed towards the Citadel.

"Now, Prophet...your end has come." Rtas said as the Shadow of Intent drew closer to the Citadel, but something emerged from slipspace.

"High Charity... By the gods. Brace for impact!" As Rtas spoke a part of debris broke off the massive station and hit the Shadow of Intent causing significant damage. Smoke and fire began to bellow from the 5 kilometer ship.

"Shipmaster, what's your status?" Commander Keyes said over the open channel between the two commanding officers.

"Significant damage! Weapon systems disabled!"

"Move to a safe distance, stay away from the Flood."

"Why would the Parasite come here?!"

"The Ark is out of range of all the active installations! Priority: We must contain this outbreak, before-" 343 was clearly alarmed, the rings would have no effect on the Flood here, but they had to focus on truth for now.

"No. First, we stop Truth. Then we deal with the Flood." Seth knew that things was going south on the ground very quickly, but their were a few ships and dozens of fighters left. It was just too great of a variable to leave them. He just hoped he wouldn't regret this decision.

Meanwhile at the Citadel command center.

Sergeant Johnson was thrown to the floor from a nearby Brute. He grunted from the pain, but he quickly recovered. He would be damned if he activated the Rings for these alien bastards.

"That the best you got?" The Brute took this as a challenge and picked up the small human. The Brute began to choke the life out of the man.

"Oh, come on. Impress me."

"Stop, you imbecile! He wants you to kill him! I'd prefer that you did not." Truth saw what the Human was trying to do. Luckily the Brute stopped and slammed him against a holographic console.

"What's the matter, big shot? Can't start your own party?"

"I admit, I need your help. But that secret dies with all the rest." Unknown to the Prophet, a Pelican broke through the glass behind him and crashed into the room. Truth was sent flying from the force of the crash, but he landed next to a Brute spiker gun. Miranda appeared from the Pelican with a shotgun in hand and blasted a Brute captain.

"Johnson! Sound off!"

"Get out of here!"

"Not without you!" Brutes began to surround the two UNSC members. The shotgun's short range limited Miranda's options. She also drew her pistol and began to aim with both her weapons.

"You delay the inevitable. One of you will light the rings. You cannot hope to kill them all!" Miranda pondered on the Prophet of Truth's word and knew what had to be done.

"You're right..." Miranda, reluctantly aimed her pistol at Johnson.

"Do it. Me...then you." Miranda hesitated to shoot, but it had to be done.

"NOW!" Johnson heard the sound of 5 spikers shots going off and watched as Keyes dropped her guns and fell forward. On her back, Johnson saw five needles. He ran towards the dying commander, but was restrained by a Brute.

"NO!"

"Your forefathers wisely set aside their compassion...steeled themselves for what needed to be done." He brought Johnson before the console once more and grabbed his left hand.

"You were weak, and gods must be strong." He pushed Johnson's hand down on the console and finally starting the Great Journey. Down the corridor, six models holograms of the seven Halo rings began to light up. The hologram of installation 04 stayed off. Near the lift of the same corridor, John and the Arbiter just arrived and were surrounded by Flood. John raised his assault rifle up and Thel ignited his Energy sword.

"Do not shoot, but listen! Let me lead you safely to our foe. Only you can halt what he has set in motion." Several Flood forms rushed in front of the two and began to attack the Covenant forces.

Truth could hear the sound of a conflict but it matter not. Nothing could stop the Great Journey now. He had won and soon victory would be his. He was brought out of his blissful ideas as the Brutes protecting him were shot dead with blue energy blast. Truth looked behind him and saw a Human inside of a Black Exoskeleton slowly descending towards him. He tried to run, but found a mysterious force holding him in place. Seth saw a beaten Johnson, who was resting Miranda's body on his lap, obviously dishearten.

"Stop the rings. Save the rest." Johnson said. Without another word Seth approached the console and deactivated the rings, much to the horror of the Prophet. The Flood began to infect Truth. Just then Chief and the Arbiter had arrived. Thel approached the Prophet of Truth and grabbed him by the throat, at this time Seth released his unseen hold on the alien.

"Your kind... never believed in the promise of the sacred rings."

"Lies for the weak. Beacons for the deluded." Thel drew his energy sword.

"I was to become a God!"

"You will be food. Nothing more."

"No! I am Truth! I am the voice of the Covenant!"

"And so, you must be silenced." Thel stabbed his energy blade through the back and it exited the front of his chest.

"AHHHHH!" Thel let out a roar of triumph as he extinguished his energy blade. Johnson, with Miranda's body and Seth boarded the Pelican, ready to take off. John and Thel were boarding the ship when the Flood turned hostile. Two massive Flood tentacles grabbed hold of the ship and several dozen more were reaching for the ship. As Chief and the Arbiter struggled to hold on, Seth used the force, to free the ship, by moving the tentacles just enough to get airborne.

With them safely away from the Flood, Seth had to analyze the current situation with Miranda dead, Seth was the highest ranking officer and had to take control of the UNSC forces. Their lives were on him. As they flew away from the Citadel, Seth noticed something, there was a Halo ring here but it was under construction. It must have began construction when John and he destroyed installation 04. The ring was not complete, which meant if they fired it, something not good would happen, worse case would be the ring fires correctly, killing anything with a nervous system within 25,000 light years. But what Seth was betting on was that triggering a activation, would cause the ring to explode. The blast would be massive and most likely be enough to kill the Flood on the Ark. According to the Sangheili, they had glasses all the Flood on installation 05 and the Flood on High Charity were all the known Flood in the Galaxy.

But there was a problem. They would need an activation index in order to fire the ring and even though the ring was a copy of installation 04, there was no certainty that the activation index would be in the same place, hell if Seth was in charge of building these rings, that the last thing he would add to it, so it couldn't go off, but Blaze and Flame informed Seth that they detected Cortana aboard High charity. If she was still in one piece, there's the possibility she still had the activation index from the original installation 04. Just as Seth was about to explain his plan to the others in the Pelican, Blaze and Flame detected the energy of the relic. This through a wrench in his plans, if the Ark was destroyed in the explosion, then the relic could also be lost, he was gonna have to put all his faith in the group of three to recover Cortana and activate the Ring, while he investigated the energy source.

Seth had inform the group in the Pelican of his plan, who thought it was suicidal, not to mention down right crazy. There were a lot of unknown variables, but the situation called for the most drastic of measure. They agreed to the plan seeing as they were left with no other option. Seth had ordered that the Crew of the Forward Unto Dawn transfer to the other two Charon-class ships. If the plan worked, they were gonna need a way off the Ark and back into the portal to earth. Rtas and the UNSC forces left the Ark Via the portal. With the plan set in motion, Johnson flew the Pelican, Seth opened the back hatch and ready himself to jump out. He took one last look at the three.

"Johnson, Chief, Arbiter, good luck." Before any of them could respond, he jumped from the Pelican and activated [B.L.A.Z.E.]. He flew in the direction of the signal.

Forty-five Minutes Later.

Seth had traveled deep within the Ark, following the signal, and along the way he had fought his way through scores of Flood and Forerunner Sentinels. He didn't know how much time he had left, but he had a bad feeling his gut that it wasn't for much longer. Last transmission with which thirty-five minutes ago, John and Thel had recovered Cortana, and she had the Index, but he didn't know how the situation was developing as he was so deep in the Ark that communications were impossible. He only had the Spherical drone with him. Seth continued moving till he came across a room that was sealed shut. He placed a hand on the drone.

"FEIM!" Seth shouted and he became intangible as did the Drone. He walked through the sealed door and came across what appeared to be a portal generator. Seth suddenly heard a chain of explosions.

"Seth!"

"I know!" Time could not be wasted. He plugged Blaze and Flame into the the nearby console and after 20 agonizing seconds, the portal generator came to life.

"Go Master!" Flame said. Seth and the Drone jumped into the portal, with no clue where it led.

On Earth

John, Johnson, and Thel were able to retrieve Cortana and activate the Halo ring, but not without cost. When 343 had learned of the plan, he turned hostile to the group and killed Johnson. John and Thel took down the monitor and activated the ring, triggering a chain reaction. They got on Johnson's warthog and tried to contact Seth about the situation, but they were unable to get through. His orders were to leave as soon as the ring was fired, with or without him.

As the Forward Unto Dawn took off from the ring and head towards the portal, the ring exploded. The blast disrupted the stability of the portal and the Dawn was torn apart. Half of her made it back to earth, but the half holding the master chief did not. After sometime a ceremony was held to mark the end of the war and to honor those that traveled into the darkness and never returned.

'UNSC RECORD'

SUBJECT: SETH FAIR SPARTAN 4-121

OFFICAL STATUS: M.I.A. LOST OVER HEAVY COMBAT ON THE ARK.

With Seth.

After Seth entered the portal it led him to a unknown planet, but the signal for the relic was significantly stronger. Seth began to fly towards the location of the relic, when someone tried to speak to him. At first it was a faint voice, but he ignored it. He couldn't ignore it any longer when a purple monitor appeared in front of him using this location's teleportation ability.

"Human please sto-Ah!" Seth had crashed into the monitor sending the purple glowing sphere towards the ground. Seth really didn't want to have sentinels attacking him again, so he rushed toward the sphere and grabbed the monitor before it hit the ground and landed. Once on solid ground he release the monitor.

"Hey are you alright?" Seth asked the monitor.

"All systems seem nominals. I believe I am fine. Oh, excuse me, I must introduce myself. I am 031-Exuberant Witness. Monitor of the Genesis installation. Welcome. Have you humans come to finally claim the mantel?"

"Mantel? I don't know anything about a mantel, but I am after an object on this station." Seth boosted backwards and narrowly avoid a sword strike. A large humanoid-machine with orange lights running over it appeared out of nowhere and suddenly attacked. Seth readied himself to counter attack, but before he could, a second machine appeared. This one was human shape like the first one, but it wielded it a spear with the tip being made from some form of hard-light technology. This second being was covered with teal light line instead of orange like the first one and his body shape was more slender, not as muscular as the first one. The biggest difference was the fact that the second figure was floating and had mechanical wings on its back, similar in design to [B.L.A.Z.E.]. Seth saw that the second being had its spear ready to attack, in return, Seth deployed [B.L.A.Z.E.]'s energy blades and readied himself.

"Warden! Watcher! Please stop!" Exuberant Witness said as she floated between Seth and the machine bodies.

"Abiding Watcher witness him attacking you. He can't be allowed to stay if he's hostile." Warden Eternal stated.

"He didn't attack me. I teleported in front of him and he couldn't stop!"

"So are you saying it was an accident, and on your part no less?" The claim sounding Abiding Watcher said with disappoint clearly in his voice. To Seth it sounded like an older sister scolding her sibling.

"It's been eons since we had any guest. I was just excited." Seth swears he could see Exuberant witness twiddling her thumbs together, even though she didn't have any.

"Very well. I apologize for the hostilities human." Abiding Watcher said as he lowered his weapon. Reluctantly Warden followed suit. Seth lowered his weapons as well.

"Thank goodness that didn't get worse. Now then, Human you said you were looking for an object on my installation. Do you know what it is."

"No, but I have a signal of where it is."

"Accessing your suit's function. Oh I know where this is!" Exuberant Witness with glee as Seth was enveloped with a yellow aura. Seth found himself before a mysterious glowing object. It was roughly the size of sedan and seeming like some sort of glowing pearl white crystal.

"I see. So you were looking for the [Giver]." Warden said.

"[Giver]?"

"Long ago when the Forerunners were just beginning to expand their reach to the stars, they found this object, which contains vast amounts of knowledge. With these gifts, we expanded our species till we were the dominate force in the galaxy, but alas with the raise of the flood, such tools would have brought our destruction, if the Flood got ahold of it." Watcher said.

"Now the ownership of the [Giver] would fall to the race that proves they are worthy of the mantel. We many test for your species, human. Are you ready to begin them?" Warden asked.

"I'm afraid I don't have time for your test. Sorry, but I'm just gonna take this." Seth launched two grapple beams at the [Giver] and opened a portal back to his dimension. He jumped in and the [Giver] followed suit.

"NO!" Warden shouted, but before he could give chase the portal closed, much to his dismay. But he noticed that Abiding Watcher was also gone.

Back at IS Academy, Arena 5.

Samus was in the middle of a demonstration of a flight maneuver for the class, when a portal opened in the arena. Out of the portal Seth appeared with a strange object being held by [B.L.A.Z.E] grapple beams.

"Seth?"

"Hey princess." Seth said as he landed.

"We need to get a shuttle here asap and get this to the moon."

"Oh is that a-"

"Yeah. Got another one." Seth heard the murmurs of the girls in the class wondering what the heck was going on. Suddenly they were joined by Natasha and Iris who came to see what the commotion was about.

"Fairs! What going on, and why are you disrupting my class."

"I can explain." Suddenly the portal reopened and a mechanical being appeared from it. Abiding Watcher has followed behind

"Oh you've gotta be shitting."

"Human, you have something of mine. And I'd like it back."
