"Gasp!"
"Where am I?" Sam looked at his surroundings, which appeared to be an endless, empty white hallway. The silence was deafening, broken only his voice echoing back at him.
"Quite a beautiful place, isn't it?" A man suddenly appeared behind Sam out of nowhere, wearing a fatherly smile and a full white tuxedo. The air shimmered faintly where he stood, as though reality had folded to let him in.
Sam spun around, startled. "If you call an empty hallway beautiful, then yes, it is."
The man chuckled softly. "Oh, let me change it to something you might like, Mr. Roger."
Before Sam could respond, the hallway transformed. The white walls dissolved like smoke in the wind, replaced by the roaring energy of a packed stadium. People cheered and chanted, their voices blending into a thunderous roar as they watched a wrestling match unfold in the ring below.
"Roar!" A wrestler pounded his chest, his figure larger than life as the crowd cheered loudly.
"Is this more to your liking, Mr. Roger?" the man asked, his voice piercing the noise.
Sam's eyes lit up. "Hell yes! This is much better! Ooh, can you bring out some food?"
The man gave him a bemused look. "You do realize you are a soul, right?"
Sam's face turned red. "Oh. Right. Forgot about that."
"By the way, what is your name?" Sam asked, curiosity creeping into his voice.
"Oh, I have many names, and some are well-known. You can call me Yahweh."
Sam's jaw dropped. "Wait, like the actual God?"
Yahweh's smile widened as he sat beside Sam, who was still staring at him in disbelief. "If you are God, then you know about me."
"Don't tempt child"
"Of course. I know all about you, Sam Roger. Born in 2005, an orphan, raised by an older woman in the orphanage. You craved attention to the point of pranking others just to be noticed. Quite the troublemaker, to the essence. You left the orphanage at fifteen, worked as a waiter in a fast-food restaurant, and found a small apartment to live in."
Sam's cheeks burned as Yahweh continued. "Even on social media, you've caused a stir—hated by many for your antics. But deep down, you wanted to be seen, to be valued."
"Okay, okay! Please stop!" Sam interrupted, raising his hands in surrender.
Yahweh raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure? Because I must say, your past lives were even more colorful."
"Geez didn't know you were this talkative," Sam muttered.
"I heard that," Yahweh said with a knowing smile.
Sam's eyes widened. "Wait, you can read minds?"
"I am God, and you have no body to hide your thoughts from me," Yahweh replied, his tone light but firm.
Sam crossed his arms, still trying to process everything. "So, what's the point of all this? Why are we here?"
Yahweh's expression grew serious, his gaze piercing. "This is not a game, child. I am showing you your life to help you reflect. Did you fulfill what you desired on Earth?"
Sam's face fell. "No. I never got what I wanted. No parents, no friends I could trust, no girlfriend to love, no adventures to strive for. I just wanted to be known by the people I care about. I wanted to be the protagonist, like in those anime I watched—to grow stronger and protect others. That's what I truly wanted."
For a moment, Yahweh said nothing, his gaze softening. Then he spoke, his voice gentle but filled with power. "Then you are in luck, Sam. Because you are about to meet your other half."
Sam's head snapped up. "Wait, what do you mean? Who's my other half?"
Yahweh stood, his figure glowing faintly. "Goodbye, Mr. Roger. I hope we meet again."
Before Sam could protest, the stadium dissolved into a blinding light, He felt suspended, his existence fraying piece by fragile piece.
Yahweh's voice echoed one last time: "Take care of him. He's a good kid."
As the light consumed him, Sam caught a glimpse of Yahweh gazing toward the farthest reaches of the universe, his eyes filled with something ancient and unknowable. "I have fulfilled my part, old friend," Yahweh murmured, his voice carrying across galaxies to the unknown.
