Lin Yun was busy dealing with the plastics business, as he was taking care of it by himself instead of handing it over to Lin Xue as usual.
The company was finally set up under the name Eastern Bio-Material Company, with Lin Yun holding 70% and the government 30%. At first, Lin Yun had wanted to give them 49%, but the government firmly refused. This company would never go public.
Lin Yun left all the work to Du Jing and let him set up the factory here in West Lake City. As for himself, it was time for him to report to the university.
As September arrived, universities around the country finally opened. Many students flocked to their respective universities to register.
Lin Yun stood at the gates of West Lake Institute of Technology, his backpack slung over one shoulder and a small suitcase by his side.
The campus was bustling with activity—new students dragging luggage, parents snapping photos, and seniors in bright vests guiding freshmen to their dorms. The air was filled with the hum of excitement and nervous chatter.
For Lin Yun, this was just another day. He had been on campus for weeks, working in the lab on his projects. The registration process felt like a formality, something he had to check off his list. Still, as he walked through the gates, he couldn't help but notice the glances and whispers directed his way.
"Isn't that Lin Yun? The top scorer in the national exam?"
"Yeah, I heard he got a perfect score. What's he doing here? Shouldn't he be at a top university in the capital?"
"Oh my god. He's more handsome than he was on the TV!"
Lin Yun ignored the comments, his expression calm and composed. He had grown used to the attention, though it didn't interest him much. His mind was already focused on the next steps for his bioplastic project and the experiences university life might bring.
As he approached the registration desk, a senior student with a bright smile and a clipboard stepped forward. She had long, wavy hair tied back in a ponytail and wore a crisp white shirt with the university logo. Her name tag read "Senior Sister Mei."
"Hi there! Are you here to register?" she asked, her voice cheerful.
"Yes," Lin Yun replied, handing her his documents.
Senior Sister Mei glanced at the papers, and her eyes widened. "Oh! You're Lin Yun! The top scorer! Wow, it's such an honor to meet you."
Lin Yun gave a polite nod. "Thank you. It's nice to meet you too."
Senior Sister Mei quickly processed his registration, her excitement evident. "Alright, you're all set. Let me show you around and take you to your dorm. You're in Building 3, Room 408. It's one of the best dorms on campus!"
As they walked through the campus, Senior Sister Mei chatted animatedly, pointing out the library, the cafeteria, and the various academic buildings. Lin Yun listened politely, though his mind occasionally drifted to the lab and the work he had left behind.
"Here we are," Senior Sister Mei said, stopping in front of a modern-looking dormitory. "Building 3. Your roommates should already be there. Let me know if you need anything, okay?"
"Thank you," Lin Yun said, offering a small smile. "I appreciate your help."
Senior Sister Mei waved goodbye, and Lin Yun made his way up to the fourth floor. He found Room 408 and pushed the door open, stepping inside.
The dorm was spacious, with four beds, each with a desk and a small wardrobe. Three of the beds were already occupied, and the room was filled with the sound of unpacking and conversation.
The first person Lin Yun noticed was a tall, muscular guy with short-cropped hair and a confident demeanor. He was unpacking a duffel bag filled with military-style gear. When he saw Lin Yun, he grinned and extended a hand.
"Hey! You must be Lin Yun. I'm Fan Xian. Nice to meet you, Brother Lin"
Lin Yun shook his hand. "Nice to meet you too."
Fan Xian's grip was firm, and his energy was infectious. "I heard you're the top scorer. That's awesome, man. We're lucky to have you here."
The second roommate, a shy-looking guy with glasses and a slightly hunched posture, stood up from his desk. "Hi, I'm Li Shun. It's an honor to be your roommate."
Lin Yun nodded. "It's nice to meet you, Li Shun."
The third roommate, however, didn't seem as welcoming. He was lounging on his bed, playing a game on his Yeskia, and barely glanced up when Lin Yun entered. He had a sleek, expensive-looking haircut and was dressed in designer clothes. When he finally spoke, his tone was dismissive.
"So, you're the so-called genius everyone's talking about? Let's see how long that lasts."
Fan Xian's expression darkened. "Hey, Bai Zheng, show some respect. Lin Yun earned his place here."
Bai Zheng smirked. "Respect? Please. I'm from Far East City. I've seen plenty of so-called geniuses crumble under pressure. Let's see if he can handle real competition."
Fan Xian took a step forward, his fists clenched, but Lin Yun raised a hand to stop him. "It's fine," Lin Yun said calmly. "We're all here to learn. Let's focus on that."
Fan Xian hesitated but eventually nodded, though he shot Bai Zheng a warning look. "Alright. But if he keeps this up, he's going to regret it."
Bai Zheng rolled his eyes and went back to his phone, clearly uninterested in the conversation.
Lin Yun unpacked his belongings, his movements methodical and unhurried. He could feel the tension in the room, but he didn't let it bother him. As someone who lived two lifetimes, a few difficult roommates were nothing he couldn't handle.
As the day went on, Fan Xian and Li Shun warmed up to Lin Yun, asking him about his interests and sharing their own. Fan Xian came from a military family and was passionate about computer engineering, while Li Shun, who grew up in a rural area, was more reserved but clearly eager to learn.
Bai Zheng, on the other hand, kept to himself, occasionally making snide remarks but mostly staying out of the conversation. Lin Yun ignored him, focusing on building a rapport with Fan Xian and Li Shun.
By the time evening rolled around, the three of them had formed a tentative bond. They decided to head to the cafeteria together for dinner, leaving Bai Zheng behind in the dorm…
