Chapter 43 - Aegis Security

2 days later, Jake Ma arrived at Lin Yun's house as appointment.

"Brother Ma, you're here," Lin Yun greeted Jake Ma with a smile as he opened the door. "Come in, come in."

Jake Ma walked into the familiar living room, his eyes scanning the surroundings. "Little Brother Lin, you're still living in this old house? With your wealth, you should have moved to a villa by now."

Lin Yun chuckled. "I like it here. It's comfortable."

Lin Canghai and Wang Chulan emerged from the kitchen, smiles on their faces. "Brother Ma is here! Come, sit down. We just finished cooking," Wang Chulan said warmly.

"Hello, Brother Lin, sister-in-law." Jake Ma greeted them politely.

They all sat down at the dining table, a simple yet hearty meal spread before them. The conversation flowed easily, filled with laughter and friendly banter. Jake Ma, with his natural charisma, had quickly become a part of the family.

"So, Little Brother Lin," Jake Ma began after they had finished eating, "tell me about this new anti-virus program."

Lin Yun nodded and led Jake Ma to his room. He booted up his computer and showed him the newly developed Aegis Anti-Virus.

"This is Aegis," Lin Yun introduced, pointing to the sleek, minimalist interface. "It's a real-time deep learning anti-virus program. It can detect and eliminate even the most sophisticated malware."

Jake Ma leaned closer, his eyes scanning the screen. "Deep learning? That's quite advanced, isn't it?"

During this period, he had read a lot of books related to the information and communication technology. The concept of deep learning was still at an infancy state. Lin Yun actually achieved it!

"Yes," Lin Yun confirmed. "It uses algorithms that allow it to learn and adapt to new threats, making it much more effective than traditional signature-based anti-virus software."

He then proceeded to demonstrate Aegis's capabilities, showing how it could detect and neutralize various types of malware, including viruses, trojans, and ransomware. Jake Ma watched in amazement as the program quickly identified and quarantined the threats.

"This is incredible," Jake Ma exclaimed, his eyes shining with excitement. "This could revolutionize the cybersecurity industry."

Lin Yun smiled. "I hope so. I've already contacted Du Jing, and he's interested in introducing it to the government."

Jake Ma's eyebrows shot up. "The government? That's huge! This could be even bigger than QuickBooks."

"Perhaps," Lin Yun said thoughtfully. "But it's not just about the money, Brother Ma. It's about protecting people's data and privacy."

Jake Ma nodded, a thoughtful expression on his face. "You're right, Little Brother Lin. This is important work." He paused for a moment, then a mischievous glint appeared in his eyes. "But the money is important too, right?"

Lin Yun laughed. "Of course, Brother Ma. The money is important too." He then turned serious again. "Brother Ma, I'm planning to set the price at 199 yuan and 199 dollars per license. What do you think?"

Jake Ma pondered for a moment. "It's a reasonable price, considering its capabilities. But we might face some resistance from those who are used to free anti-virus software."

"I know," Lin Yun acknowledged. "But Aegis is different. It's a premium product, and I believe people will be willing to pay for the added security."

"I agree," Jake Ma said. "We just need to market it effectively. Highlight its unique features, its deep learning capabilities, and its ability to protect against even the most advanced threats."

Lin Yun nodded. "Exactly. And we can offer a free trial period, so people can experience its power firsthand."

"Good idea," Jake Ma agreed. "And we can target businesses and organizations as well. They're more likely to understand the value of robust cybersecurity."

They spent the next hour discussing marketing strategies, target audiences, and distribution channels. Jake Ma, with his extensive experience in sales and marketing, provided valuable insights and suggestions.

"Brother Ma," Lin Yun said after a while, "I want you to be in charge of selling Aegis. You've done an amazing job with QuickBooks, and I trust you to do the same with this."

Jake Ma's eyes lit up. "Are you serious, Little Brother Lin? You want me to handle the entire sales operation?"

"Yes," Lin Yun confirmed. "You're the best person for the job. And I'll give you a 30% commission per license."

Jake Ma was stunned. "30%? That's... that's incredibly generous, Little Brother Lin."

"You deserve it, Brother Ma," Lin Yun said with a smile. "You've proven yourself to be a valuable asset to the company. And I know you'll do great things with Aegis."

Jake Ma took a deep breath, his mind racing with the possibilities. This was a huge opportunity, a chance to make a real impact in the world of cybersecurity. And with a 30% commission, he could potentially earn millions, even billions, of yuan.

"Thank you, Little Brother Lin," he said, his voice filled with gratitude. "I won't let you down."

"I know you won't, Brother Ma," Lin Yun said, clapping him on the shoulder. "Now, let's get to work. We have a lot to do."

A few days later, Lin Yun received a call from Du Jing.

"Little Yun, your anti-virus software is amazing!" Du Jing exclaimed, his voice filled with excitement. "The science academy tested it, and it passed with flying colors. They want to purchase it for all government agencies."

Lin Yun smiled. "That's great news, Uncle Du. I knew Aegis was good, but I didn't expect it to be this well-received."

"It's not just good, Little Yun," Du Jing said. "It's revolutionary. This could change the way we approach cybersecurity."

"I hope so, Uncle Du," Lin Yun said. "I really want to make a difference in this field."

"You already have, Little Yun," Du Jing assured him. "And this is just the beginning. I have a feeling you're going to achieve more great things."

Lin Yun's heart swelled with pride. He had "worked hard" to develop Aegis, and it was gratifying to see his efforts recognized.

"Thank you, Uncle Du," he said. "For everything."

"No need to thank me, Little Yun," Du Jing said warmly. "You earned this. Now, let's talk about the contract. The government is willing to pay a premium price for Aegis, considering its importance to national security."

Lin Yun's eyes widened. "A premium price?"

"Yes," Du Jing confirmed. "They're offering 500 yuan per license."

Lin Yun was stunned. He had initially set the price at 199 yuan, and now the government was offering more than double that amount.

"That's... that's very generous of them, Uncle Du," he stammered.

"They understand the value of Aegis, Little Yun," Du Jing explained. "And they're willing to invest in it. This is a huge opportunity for you. Not just financially, but also in terms of establishing your reputation as a leading figure in cybersecurity."

Lin Yun took a deep breath, trying to calm his racing heart. This was a major turning point in his career, a chance to solidify his position in the tech industry.

"I understand, Uncle Du," he said. "I'm ready to sign the contract."

"Excellent," Du Jing said. "I'll have the legal team draw it up and send it to you for review."
