Chapter 30 - Science Academy

Lin Yun looked at the famous academy with interest. He had no idea if it was the same as the one on Earth, as he had never visited it. The academy was spacious and decorated in a traditional way.

Soon, Du Jing led Lin Yun to a dormitory for scientists, which surprised him.

"This will be your room. There's internet and a computer here. Feel free to tell me if you need anything," Du Jing said with a smile.

Lin Yun looked at the spacious white room and said, "Thank you, Secretary Du. Will this cause trouble?"

"Of course not," Du Jing said. "You are our honorable guest. How could we treat you badly?"

Seeing Lin Yun's surprised expression, Du Jing explained, "Perhaps you have no idea about our groundwork here regarding cryptography. To tell you the truth, we've just started in the last year. Your cryptography technique has far surpassed our current knowledge by decades."

Lin Yun nodded slowly. He didn't expect the country to be so far behind, but it was understandable. In his past life, China started late, as they were busy solving internal problems after founding the country. When they began to enter the information technology field, it was already the late 90s.

"Let's go. I will take you to the cafeteria," Du Jing said.

Lin Yun put his luggage away and followed Du Jing to the cafeteria. Along the way, he met many scientists and interns. They greeted Du Jing and looked at him curiously.

After checking out the facilities, Lin Yun asked as they returned to the dormitory, "When should I start, Secretary Du?"

"We've notified everyone. How about tomorrow at 9:00 AM?" Du Jing responded.

"No problem," Lin Yun agreed without hesitation.

He took out a few CDs and handed them to Du Jing. "Please install this program on the computers in the lecture room. It is an IDE that I've developed."

Du Jing was surprised. "You've developed an IDE?"

"Yes," Lin Yun said as he took out the programming books he wrote and handed them to Du Jing. "These are new programming languages I've made. I would like to trouble you to check them out for me. I plan to sell them later. By the way, you can visit my website, Sky.com."

Du Jing looked at the books in his hands in a daze. Lin Yun had given him so many surprises that his mind went numb.

He took a deep breath and said, "I will let everyone check them for you."

Lin Yun smiled and exchanged a few words with Du Jing before watching him walk away.

Closing the door, Lin Yun opened the computer and discovered that the connection speed was actually 128 Mbps. It seemed the country had begun to lay the groundwork for internet broadband, which was extremely good for his business in the near future.

He first checked his website. The number of users steadily increased day by day, thanks to his relentless spamming bots.

"Hmm?" Lin Yun was surprised to see a direct message from Megasoft. The content was simple: they wanted to buy his website and the structure behind it, including the programming languages he used. There was also an invitation to work with them.

It would be a lie if Lin Yun didn't feel anything. After all, Microsoft was one of the giants back on Earth. Megasoft was no exception. If it were him back on Earth, he would be extremely excited, but it was impossible in this life.

Lin Yun thought for a moment and politely rejected the offer. He could have sold the website and obtained some funds, but he was too lazy to create a new one. Moreover, he loved the domain name.

However, Lin Yun stated his intention for cooperation. He had already made a few posts regarding the introduction of the programming languages he had "created" on the website. It had become popular in the past week.

Lin Yun planned to create a browser next to compete with Internet Discoverer. As long as users got used to his browser, it would be easier for him to implement an operating system in the near future.

Lin Yun leaned back against the chair and thought about his next plan. Without control over the hardware, it would be difficult for him to challenge the Window OS. After all, they occupied market share by simply installing it on computers selling around the world. Ordinary users would use it without thinking. Only tech geeks would use Linux and some other OS.

"One step at a time," he muttered to himself. As much as he wanted to set up his semiconductor industry, he had to wait for a year to accumulate enough Technology Points.

Currently, Lin Yun had a few products that could generate the points — QuickBooks, Plant versus Zombie, programming languages, and Code Weaver IDE. Once these products were exported to the world, he believed it could generate at least 10 or even 100 million points. It would be enough for him to redeem DUV lithography technology.

At the same time, he planned to set up an electronic factory soon. His goal was to introduce LCD and LED TVs, including DVD/VCD machines. These products would generate a ton of income and TP for him.

After noting everything down, Lin Yun surfed the internet for a while to learn about the news around the world and went to bed early. In the DDL space, he continued to study the Cloud Browser with the help of Luna.

The following morning, Lin Yun woke up early and went to a track field to do a routine exercise. There were many people jogging and exercising around the track as he arrived.

Lin Yun's arrival didn't attract much attention. They merely looked at him curiously as they were wondering where the young man came from. After all, the people here were mostly older.

Lin Yun ran a few laps around the track and did bodyweight training. After more than a month of routine exercise, he could visibly feel that his body had become much stronger.

As he was taking a rest, Lin Yun called out the system panel to check his stats.

During the past week, he spent most of his TP on the Cloud Browser, programming languages, Code Weaver, and various rudimentary technologies related to electronics, materials, and medicine. Now, he obtained another batch of TP. It seemed the civil units around the country had begun to use his QuickBooks.

Lin Yun closed the system panel and went to a cafeteria to grab breakfast.

"Did you sleep well last night?" Du Jing walked over and sat opposite Lin Yun.

"Good morning, Secretary Du." Lin Yun responded. "I slept well. The environment here is very good."

"Then are you interested in working here?" Du Jing teased.

Lin Yun laughed and changed the topic. "By the way, Secretary Du. Is there a plan to implement internet broadband around the country?"
