Chapter 3 - Early Entry

[Name: Lin Qun]

[Level: 1 (0/100)]

[Strength: 7]

[Agility: 6]

[Constitution: 8]

[Energy: 12/12]

[Note: The standard value for all of the above is 10 for an ordinary person.]

[Talent: Card Draw Enhancement Ability]

[Remaining Card Draw Attempts: 0]

[Skills:]

1. "Bang" (Skill Level: 1): Within a 10-meter radius centered on the user, by focusing on a target with direct eye contact, this skill can destroy any part of a carbon-based lifeform's body.

[Current maximum body constitution that can be directly destroyed: 16]

(Effectiveness decreases when targeting enemies with a constitution exceeding this value.)

This skill was a perfect match with the concept of the "Headshot Girl" from the Black Noir squad, with its specific prerequisites—eye contact, a range limitation, and a certain wind-up. However, not everyone could achieve a headshot. In the original series, this ability was almost a guaranteed kill for normal humans, but for superhumans with enhanced constitutions, the effect was much weaker.

Still, this skill appeared more detailed than what was shown in the original.

"Can I directly kill targets with up to twice my own constitution?" Lin Qun pondered.

Increasing his own constitution might directly boost the lethality of this skill!

However, with 16 constitution, which was already far beyond the ordinary, could anyone really survive a shot to the head?

Moreover, it seemed that the skills obtained through card draws could be leveled up. The current skill was at level one.

Unfortunately, there were no clear instructions on how to upgrade skills, personal levels, or talents. Lin Qun glanced through some online posts and saw a few discussions. Some people speculated that the lack of upgrades might be because the global battlefield hadn't officially begun yet. Right now, it was like a game's warm-up phase, where people were just getting to know their abilities. As for upgrades and completing the main quests, that would have to wait until the game truly started.

"It looks like we won't know how to earn more card draws until the battlefield opens," Lin Qun guessed.

During this time, the chaos outside had intensified for a while, only to quiet down again. Perhaps the distant gunshots from the city had caused everyone to quieten.

But online, the atmosphere was becoming even more heated.

A D-level awakened person named Yang Lin had directly addressed the community group: "Everyone, don't worry. I used to be a fitness coach, and now I'm a D-level powerhouse."

"If anything happens, I'll be the first one to stand up. I'll protect everyone, but I don't have many supplies. Does anyone want to sell me some?"

At this point, everyone was hoarding their resources, and other ordinary people in the group weren't getting any attention. But as soon as Yang Lin spoke, a girl immediately responded, "I have some! Big brother, can I come over with the supplies?"

She even posted a selfie, with a fiery figure and a sweet, innocent look.

Lin Qun could only watch coldly.

It was already past noon, and Lin Qun stood up, checking the vegetables he had left at home. He'd bought them a few days ago, and they wouldn't last much longer, so he decided to cook and eat them.

Afterward, Lin Qun sat in front of his computer and began to devour survival knowledge—first aid, wild plant identification, and other skills that might prove useful in the coming days. He knew that even though he was a transmigrator, he was still just an ordinary person, filled with the same fear and anxiety as anyone else. However, he had one advantage: he could force himself to calm down and make use of the limited time he had to prepare for the future.

He wanted to survive.

The countdown continued, and the awakening of talents had already caused massive changes in the world. Yet, things like the internet and electricity were still functioning.

But by two or three in the afternoon, the power supply began to falter, and the internet was mostly down.

Approaching the window, Lin Qun looked outside and saw police patrolling the streets.

Other areas might be in chaos, but the security here seemed under control for now.

Moreover, many anxious people had gathered downstairs, in small groups, some hoping for safety in numbers, while others were trying to gather information on what was coming next.

Lin Qun had an idea.

The area downstairs seemed relatively safe—perhaps… he could go down and test his abilities.

Though he had acquired a new power, he still wasn't sure how to use it.

After all, the ability he had drawn required living targets, and in his 10-meter radius, he hadn't seen a single insect in his apartment.

As for houseplants... as a golden bachelor, Lin Qun didn't even have any in his home.

He slowly made his way downstairs and saw the building manager, Fan Wen, who had gathered a sizable number of residents from Building 5 into a small group under her leadership.

Even residents from other buildings had come to "latch onto the big leg."

Lin Qun didn't approach, instead turning to another area.

While there was no chaos in the community, the situation outside Magic Capital wasn't looking good. From within the compound, he could hear the wail of police sirens and the sounds of growing disorder in the streets.

Some areas had yet to erupt, but others were already descending into chaos.

Lin Qun began to test his ability.

He wasn't a sadistic person—he wasn't out to blow the heads off innocent bystanders. He just wanted to see how his ability worked.

He focused his attention on a young man who was boasting about his E-level talent, surrounded by a small group of people.

Lin Qun concentrated and, in his mind, a "perception" ability emerged. It seemed that with a single thought, he could cause the young man to suddenly explode, his head obliterated by his ability, and all his boasting would be silenced.

The best part? The young man had no idea.

This meant his constitution wasn't up to 16 points.

Lin Qun's mind raced.

This "perception" was quite interesting. He could use it not only to trigger his skill but also to estimate the body constitution of others without them noticing.

His skill truly was a pinpoint headshot, a "Death Gaze."

It was subtle, invisible, and deadly.

Curious, Lin Qun wondered if there were any high-level individuals in the community.

He began to walk around, pretending to be as anxious as the others, scanning the crowd with his eyes.

He soon realized that his ability could target nearly anyone in the crowd.

Very few people had a constitution over 16.

Suddenly, Lin Qun halted.

His perception had detected a tall, elegant woman swiftly passing by. Her constitution exceeded 16 points!

At that moment, Lin Qun felt a slight shock. His ability couldn't take her down in one blow—at most, it would leave a bloody hole in her.

What surprised him even more was that the woman, who had been rushing towards Building 2, seemed to sense something. She abruptly stopped and glanced toward him with lightning speed.

However, by the time she looked his way, Lin Qun had already disappeared into the crowd without a trace.

Her ability to sense his "gaze," along with her constitution exceeding 16 points, marked her as an expert.

Lin Qun took note of the woman, but just as he was processing this, Fan Wen stopped him.

"I remember you, you're from our building…" Fan Wen said. "Are you interested in joining us? You're alone, and it's safer to be with a group. It looks like your talent level isn't that high, otherwise, you wouldn't be down here looking for opportunities… The low-level awakened ones are all gathering down here to team up for safety. The high-level ones don't need to worry about that and aren't coming down."

"Am I right?" Fan Wen asked, looking at Lin Qun with a knowing smile.

Lin Qun shook his head. "I... I'll think about it."

Fan Wen smiled. "I believe you'll make the right choice."

To her, Lin Qun, an ordinary young man without noticeable ability or talent, would be foolish to turn down her offer.

She didn't try to persuade him further, believing that his refusal was his own loss.

But Lin Qun didn't go upstairs. Instead, he moved to a secluded spot by a flowerbed.

He had come down not only to understand how to use his power but also to test its strength.

The better he understood his abilities, the better he could use them when the time came.

Killing innocents was despicable, but it wouldn't hurt to test it on a few plants, right?

As Lin Qun focused on the flowerbed, preparing to activate his ability, a sudden deafening explosion shook the ground, causing people around him to scream.

Lin Qun froze, stunned.

I haven't even used my ability yet—how is there such an impact?

But he quickly realized that the explosion wasn't caused by him.

People around him began shouting.

"The army's entered the city! The army's here!!"

Someone had led the charge, and fear spread like wildfire, with the residents rushing back into their buildings.

The army's entering the city?

Lin Qun was still processing the news when, suddenly, his eyes widened.

The strange countdown in front of him changed. New text appeared!

[

To all Blue Star inhabitants,]

[This is a broadcast announcement.]

[One of the participating civilizations, the Bakatan Civilization, has used one million contribution points to purchase and activate the priority landing rights for the global battlefield.]

[The Bakatan Civilization will enter the battlefield ahead of time. Other civilizations will enter when the countdown ends.]

[The Blue Star global battlefield has now entered the war phase early.]

[All Blue Star native participants, please prepare for battle.]

"Early entry?!!" Lin Qun stared in shock as he looked up, witnessing a terrifying rift in the sky.

A massive "sailing ship" over a thousand meters long slowly emerged from the rift!
