Chapter 2 - The Prophecy

My name is Astrid Howlington and this is my story, my curse and pain turned into a blessing.

The moon cast its silvery glow over the land of the four clans, where the white wolves had ruled with wisdom and power for centuries. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming wildflowers, and the sound of wolves howling in the distance.

The four clans lived in peace and harmony, each with their unique abilities and strengths. The Luminari pack, led by Alpha Ryker, possessed white fur coatings, piercing blue eyes, and a connection to the moon. They were known for their wisdom, compassion, and strong sense of justice.

Next to the Luminari pack were the Shadow Packs of the black wolves, led by Alpha Felix. They had piercing yellow eyes and a strong connection to the shadows. They were known for their cunning ambition and sometimes ruthless nature.

The middle packs, the Terrakia pack, were led by Alpha John. They had brown or tan coats, green eyes, and a strong connection to the earth. They were often skilled healers and deeply connected to the natural world.

Lastly, there were the Aqueoni, the water wolves pack, led by Alpha Liam. They had gray or blue-gray coats, piercing aqua eyes, and a strong connection to the water. They were known for their adaptive, intuitive, and emotional nature.

Elisa, a young white wolf, sat at the edge of the gathering, watching as the elders discussed the latest threat to their peace. Her father, Alpha Ryker, stood tall and proud, his voice booming as he addressed the gathering.

But amidst the tranquility, a sense of unease settled in the pit of Elisa's stomach. She couldn't shake the feeling that something was off, that a darkness lurked around the lands.

And then, without warning, the attack came. The werewolves' world was turned upside down as a group of black wolves, their eyes glowing with an otherworldly energy, burst into the gathering.

The air was filled with the sound of snarling and snapping, as the white wolves fought to defend themselves. Elisa's father, Alpha Ryker, stood tall, fighting off the attackers with his powerful jaws and claws.

But despite his bravery, he was vastly outnumbered, and soon he fell to the ground, wounded and helpless. Felix stood above him, his eyes gleaming with malice.

"I know you must be wondering why, Ryker," Felix spoke, his voice dripping with malice. "Why did I do it? Let me say, I needed power, your reign got boring, and being on your side was a hindrance to my plans."

Elisa's heart was filled with horror and grief as she watched her father's fall. She knew she had to act fast; the sudden revelation was still something new in her mind.

Felix took a stake and pierced Ryker's heart. He pricked himself and took some of Ryker's blood and put it on his wrist, but there was nothing.

"He's not pure blood," Felix growled. "What are you waiting for? Go after the little wolf and find her mother!"

Elisa's mind was racing with questions. Where was her mother? She was confused. Who would she go in search of?

Joel, her mate, mind-linked her. "Meet me at the secret passage underground; we will escape through there. Be fast, Elisa; we don't have much time."

Elisa was so stubborn, refusing to do what she was told, and she went to look for her mother. "Mother, we must go; Father was killed. We have to go."

"No, my child, it has been destined. Go with your mate to your grandmother's place; she'll know what to do. Tell my mother I love her so much. This is the only way, child."

"No, Mother, I can't leave you alone."

"If I go with you now, our scents will be traced. Mother, I can't lose you too."

"Elisa, stop being stubborn; go now before it's too late."

"Take this scroll; it'll explain everything better and why I'm taking this route." She looked at her mother one last time before running into the secret passage.

Just then, Felix came with some of his wolves, looking viciously at Martha. "Where is she?" Felix asked.

"Far away from you; you'll never find her." Felix slapped her.

"Talk, woman. Your mate is gone, so you better cooperate."

Martha laughed and said, "I know you need her to complete the ritual, but let me tell you something. You won't achieve your plans, Felix, because my mate wasn't pure blood."

Martha took a knife out of her dress and cut herself on her wrist while her blood drops on the ground.

"Before you cause any more havoc, Felix, I, Luna of the Luminari pack, curse you and your subordinates. That every female of your pack must kill her mate in order to survive their transition. And if you set out to go against the curse of a pure blood, the older clan of your pack will be wiped out to dust, leaving the children behind to start all over. To break this curse, someone from your bloodline must have pure blood as a mate two centuries from now, and only she can be a cleanser to our world."

Before Felix was able to stop her from going further, she stabbed herself on the heart.

"Noooo!" Felix screamed. "This can't be happening. All of you, find the girl and kill whosoever tries to stop you from capturing her, now!"

Elisa was able to reach Joel, her mate, as she went through the secret passage.

"Thank goodness you're here; we have to go, Elisa. This place isn't safe for any of us," Joel spoke.

"Yes, it's not. Felix betrayed my Father, and he's after me."

"I always knew the black wolves weren't to be trusted."

"How do we go from here, Elisa? You know I have no family; your family was basically my family."

"My mother directed me to my grandmother's place; let's go."

"But, Joel, I must tell you, the journey is really far, but it's worth it. Since I have you by my side."

"Very well, then; let's go before they locate us here."

As soon as they left the hideout, Joel blocked the passage with some rocks.

Elisa screamed on top of her lungs, "Mother!" She fell while holding her chest.

"She's gone, Joel; I can feel it."

"You're strong, Elisa; we will pull through this together."

Her mother, the wise and gentle Luna, who was always by her side, nursing her wounds and whispering words of comfort, was gone.

"What's that sound?" Felix said.

"It's coming from there sire. What are you waiting for? Follow that passage."

"Sire, the passage is blocked."

"Well, break it."

"Elisa, snap out of it; we need to go. You can mourn later, but not here. I can't lose you too."

As Elisa gazed around one last time, a sense of desolation washed over her. Their world would never be the same. The white wolves, once the revered rulers of the four clans, were now all but extinct. The balance of power had been shattered, leaving a gaping void that seemed impossible to fill. The very fabric of their society was torn apart, leaving Elisa wondering what the future held.
