"Hah...Hah..."
In the midst of a battlefield, a young boy with silver hair, knelt down on the ground, struggling to catch his breath.
A sword was pierced through his heart, arms and legs each had their own weapons pierced through them, making him unable to stop his blood from turning the ground crimson.
"That's for straying to the path of evil," a blonde haired teenage boy sneered as he stood above him.
"How could a monster like you be my brother." A silver haired girl, her voice seething with rage, added as she stood alongside the blonde.
With great effort, the boy shifted his gaze forward. He saw many familiar faces among them.
His so called friends, the one he once thought of as family, they had all turned their backs on him.
But his gaze didn't even linger on them, instead going straight towards her.
"W..hy M..ar..y?" He uttered with great difficulty, pain evident in his voice.
The one called Mary remained quiet. But the boy continued. "I.. d..id th..is fo..r you. For us." Cough cough.
As he spoke he coughed out large amounts of blood.
But Mary still didn't say anything. She just simply regarded him with cold emotionless eyes.
The boy then shifted his gaze towards his sister.
"Aria. W..hy do th..is. Wh..y a..re y.ou tr..us..ti..ng him? Can't you see how he's destroying our nation?" The boy squeezed out with great difficulty.
"If yo..u c..onti..nue on this path, the empire will be co..n..tr..oll..ed by the Island". He continued with even more difficulty.
"Why can't you g..uys see th..at wha..t I'm do..in..g is for us?".
"What? What did you say?" Mary asked.
"I said I did it for us". The boy mumbled lightly. Then gathering strength he yelled "I SAID I DID IT FOR US".
And with tears in his eyes, he looked at Mary. "I did it to save you". Mary simply looked at him with disgust in her eyes.
"I never asked you to save me. I never asked you to do any of this. I didn't ask you to start a fucking war."
As she spoke, rage began building up in her voice. "You killed MILLIONS. MILLIONS. Just for some sick twisted hope to save me".
She then took a deep breath. And then spoke again. "Enough. I'm done arguing with you. If the Island is going to takeover let them. It's better they're in charge instead of you".
And then she raised her hand, pointing it at the silver haired boy who just looked downwards completely broken.
And then muttered a word. "Lancea glaciem". And in an instant an ice spear pierced through his chest.
As the boy was breathing his last, he mumbled "M..a..ry" before he died
**********
Beep..beep..*
James' eyes slowly opened, his gaze met with an unfamiliar ceiling. Grogginess clouded his mind as he tried to recall how he got there.
"Cough...cough...Huff...Huff..." He woke up, coughing and gasping for breath.
His eyelids twitched open, and as he looked around in confusion, he started to pant heavily, feeling breathless.
His white shirt was drenched in cold sweat, the sensation of the nightmare still lingering.
"Argh... Water." James mumbled, feeling an unpleasant thirst, and he looked around until he found a bottle.
He picked it up and emptied its contents into his mouth. Glug...glug... After drinking the water to his heart's content, James glanced at the beeping alarm clock. [5:00]
"Sigh..." Closing the alarm, he reclined on the chair as he sighed. He closed his eyes, the nightmare still vivid in his mind. "I should go home," he mumbled to himself. Standing up from his seat, he began to pack his belongings.
"Again, why do I always have those weird nightmares," he mumbled to himself with a tired sigh, as these nightmares had become a daily routine for him.
Just then, a knock at the door broke the silence. "Come in." Click The door clicked open to his office room as a woman walked in.
"Hello, Senior James," the woman greeted him with a light bow. James, a somewhat handsome, tall, and lean man in his mid-twenties, looked at her. His beautiful blue eyes gazed at her with curiosity.
"Is there something the matter, Rebecca?" James asked after packing his things.
"Senior, all the faculty members are going to the party for the new contract we were offered," she replied, fidgeting with her fingers.
"So?" James asked, looking at her.
"So, I was wondering if you are coming with us or not, senior," she asked, her voice tinged with light expectancy.
"Sorry, Rebecca, but I can't. I have plans with my girlfriend," James replied with an apologetic smile.
"Oh, it's fine, senior. Have a nice evening," hiding her disappointment, she quickly bowed and moved out of the room.
After checking his office once again, he also moved out. "Are you mad!?" But just as he was about to leave the building, a faint voice reached his ears.
"What do you mean, senior?" Another voice replied, a recognizable voice belonging to Rebecca.
"Has no one informed you about him?" "About what?"
"About being away from that monster."
"Monster?"
"Yes, monster, he killed his stepfather and spent a few years in jail."
James sighed as he started to walk away. For him, it's always like this. Every time a newcomer arrives, the seniors will warn them about him. Not that it matters to him, as he doesn't want to get close to any of them.
"I wonder what Jessica has made for today's dinner." With a small smile, James mumbled as he left the office building and moved to pick up his bike.
As he rode his bike, the cool evening air rushed past him, but his mind was elsewhere. He thought about Jessica, his girlfriend, and the life they had built together.
But fate had other plans.
A car swerved onto the road, heading straight for James. He tried to swerve, but it was too late. The collision was inevitable.
James' world went dark, his thoughts fading into nothingness.
The silence was oppressive, punctuated only by the sound of screeching tires and shattering glass. James' body lay broken and battered, his life slipping away.
And then, there was nothing.
The darkness was absolute, a void that seemed to stretch on forever. James' consciousness was gone, lost in the depths of oblivion.
But even in death, James' journey was far from over. His soul, now free from its mortal coil, began to drift through the void, carried by an unseen force.
The darkness slowly gave way to a faint, flickering light. James' soul was drawn towards it, pulled by an inexorable force.
As the light grew brighter, James' soul began to take shape, coalescing into a new form. He was reborn, his consciousness stirring once more.
