Chapter 38 - EVOKE: Core Connection

"Let's end this," Caspian growled.

The battlefield was chaos.

The ground was littered with the broken remains of Mini Goblins, almost five of them already dead.

Despite their ferocity, the lupivores were relentless.

Caspian's sharp eyes caught one lupivore distracted by the swarm of Mini Goblins clawing at its legs.

Without hesitation, he lunged forward, Bloodmoon's purple aura streaking through the air like a flash of lightning.

SLASH!

He swung down with precision, slicing clean through the lupivore's neck.

BOOM!

The lupivore's body erupted in a violent explosion, sending debris and a shockwave tearing through the clearing.

THUD!

Caspian hit the ground hard, rolling to a stop several meters away, the air knocked from his lungs.

"What the fuck!" he gasped, clutching his side as he struggled to his feet.

{Why did its body explode?} Bloodmoon's voice cut through the chaos, its tone as confused as Caspian's.

"Fuck it," Caspian muttered through gritted teeth, his ears ringing from the blast.

There was no time to recover.

Only 13 or 14 Mini Goblins remained, still battling ferociously, but they were being picked off one by one.

Eight lupivores still stood, their predatory eyes gleaming in the dim light.

{Be careful, child.} Bloodmoon's warning was sharp.

{The other lupivores' bodies might also explode upon death.}

"Fuck it! Let them explode if they want to!" Caspian snarled, gripping Bloodmoon tighter as he pushed himself to his feet.

The wounds on his body burned, but he refused to back down.

"GRRRRRR"

The remaining lupivores began circling him, their low growls reverberating through the forest.

Caspian could feel the adrenaline pumping through his veins, a wild and reckless energy surging within him.

Caspian's boots slid across the blood-soaked forest floor as he rushed toward the shattered remains of the lupivore he had just killed.

Its body lay in grotesque pieces, but Caspian didn't hesitate.

Plunging Bloodmoon into the largest intact fragment of flesh, he muttered.

"EVOKE."

A surge of crimson essence flowed from his body into the lifeless remains.

His vision blurred for a moment as his energy drained, but the core connection was complete and simultaneously he sacrificied lupivore memories.

The lupivore's body twitched, then rose, its glowing eyes turning toward its former packmates.

Without hesitation, it pounced, attacking the nearest lupivore with savage ferocity.

Caspian stumbled, barely able to stay on his feet as his breath came in ragged gasps.

"That... took more out of me than I thought," he muttered, steadying himself against a nearby tree.

But there was no time to rest.

"Ugh," With a sharp growl, Caspian lunged forward again, targeting another lupivore distracted by the frenzied attacks of the reanimated beast.

Bloodmoon's blade arced through the air, shimmering with its deadly purple aura, and cut clean through the creature's side.

BOOM!

The body detonated just like the first, sending Caspian hurtling backward.

The force of the explosion tore through his side, leaving searing pain in its wake.

"Cough.... splatter," He coughed, spitting blood, but forced himself upright.

"Damn it," he hissed, wiping his mouth.

His body screamed for rest, but he ignored the pain.

"EVOKE!"

The second lupivore rose, shaking off the last remnants of its death as Caspian channeled his will into it.

It joined the first reanimated lupivore, its savage growls echoing through the forest as it tore into the others.

Still, there was no time to celebrate.

Another lupivore lunged at Caspian from the side, claws gleaming.

"CLACK"

He barely managed to intercept with Bloodmoon, but the impact sent a jolt through his already battered body.

"Ugh,"

Caspian growled, turning his blade with a sharp twist to push the lupivore back.

Using the moment of reprieve, he dashed forward and sliced into its neck.

"ROOOAARRR,"

Bloodmoon roared as it connected, severing flesh and bone.

BOOM!

This time, the explosion came without warning, catching Caspian mid-step.

The shockwave slammed into him, and he was flung across the battlefield, landing hard against a tree.

"Hhhhhuuuuhh," He gasped for air, pain wracking his entire body.

"SPLATTER,"

Blood trickled down his arms and chest, his vision swimming.

The forest around him was chaos—his Mini Goblins were gone, their shattered remains scattered across the ground.

All that was left on his side were two reanimated lupivores, snarling as they engaged the remaining five.

"Chhkkk," Caspian gritted his teeth and forced himself to his feet, his legs trembling but steady.

Bloodmoon pulsed in his hand, the purple aura flickering faintly.

"This... is far from over," he muttered, his voice low and resolute.

The remaining lupivores were circling now, cautious but deadly.

Caspian's two reanimated beasts clashed with them in a savage frenzy of claws and teeth.

He limped toward the nearest skirmish, raising Bloodmoon with trembling hands.

With every ounce of strength he had left, he charged into the fray.

"FUCK. YOU. ALL "
