The evening has come, and the music is now playing softly; the tempo, too, has subsided to a slow one, and every guest is already preparing to take their leave.
Dennis was alone in a place inside the party hall. He was happy for his big day, but in his mind, he couldn't get over someone.
Teni came to him with a drink in her hand, a serious smile covered her face as she moved closer to Dennis.
"Dennis, I observed you have been watching Amara more than the normal looking tonight. What's up with her?". Teni began, her voice playful.
Dennis chuckled, and a warm blush flushed over his face. He wasn't sure maybe Teni saw him j
Keeping gaze on Amara, or does she just want to tease him? Either way, he didn't later mind.
"Hope there is no cause for alarm for bringing up that." He said with seriousness. "I am just being caring to ensure everyone enjoys the party tonight ".
Teni raised an eyebrow, she wasn't buying into what Dennis was saying. "Hmm, Mr Observer. I have known you quite a while now, and I know when you are observing. This one is not you trying to observe the event; you are keeping an eye on her. Isn't it?"
Dennis was surprised to hear Teni talking bluntly to him about Amara.
"What are you insinuating? Is it bad to look after your guests at a party like this?".
"See men, I am not saying it's bad... All I am saying is that the look is suspicious. There is more to it!" Teni said softly.
Dennis chuckled, "All right, I just appreciate Amara for being a different person here. Her presence sparkled up this event."
"Are you for real? Tell more." Teni asked in curiosity.
"I mean what I am saying. She is just a nice girl that needs good care". Dennis smiled as he ended that statement.
Teni raised an eyebrow, "Good care?". Teni nodded in disbelief. "I am getting to understand better now." she laughed.
"Yeah, you get it". Dennis laughed in humor.
"Why did you think I would buy into your trick play before?" Teni looks straight into his eyes. I am not blind you know. You have been gazing at her all day, and it's obvious.
Dennis's heart was raised; he felt everyone would have noticed his interest in Amara. "I won't deny the fact that I have been paying attention to her more than I should."
Teni bursted into laughter "It's now confession time". Teni eyes sparkle with mischief. "What do you have for her? I thought you were just an engrossed person. But it's like I am seeing new things now".
Dennis sighed "Teni, I am just trying to figure her out and see maybe... She is just too different from every other lady I have been hanging around with."
"Hmn!..." Teni nodded in confirmation.
"She doesn't seem like she is of my class, but I can't deny the fact that she has her own."
"She's not like everyone else, true. But that is kind of her charm. She's real. No pretensions. Just herself. And I can see you like that." Teni's voice was firm and sincere.
Dennis couldn't deny what Amara said. Amara wasn't trying to impress anyone; she was just herself, with no presence here. Her ways of doing things are different and unique.
"But what is it about her that caught your attention and made you curious?" Teni didn't want the conversation to die down without getting to the root. "I can't remember the last time someone caught your attention so much like this. Normally, you are a party person."
Dennis chuckled nervously, he didn't know what to say. He wanted to carefully select his words. He's not the type that opens up about his feelings easily. But Teni was different, she knew him so well.
"I can't say; there are many I can't just figure out about her. Unlike most people that are easy to read, here's a different case". Dennis said.
Teni was full of amusement."So you are telling me that the great Dennis, who always has everything figured out, can't figure out a woman who is just being herself."
"Can you just stop being dramatic?" Dennis raised his voice in humor.
Teni laughed, thoroughly enjoying this moment. "Oh, don't worry, I'm not judging. Honestly, I think you could use someone like her. Someone who's not caught up in all the usual nonsense. It could be good for you."
Dennis's eyes widened. "Good for me? What do you mean?"
"You know what I mean. Amara is not a gold digger. She is not. Looking for your money, maybe it's high time you allow a woman into your life". Teni's voice goes soft as she speaks to Dennis. She was marketing Amara to him the best way she could.
Dennis glanced through where Amara was laughing and gisting with some other guests. Amara didn't notice Dennis staring. Dennis's heart was drawn to her the more as he beheld her smiling. He felt something rare about her.
"I don't know," he said quietly. "Maybe she's just here because of Teni. Maybe I'm overthinking this."
Teni chuckled again, "Don't be so modest. I'm sure she came because she was invited by me. But she decided to stay much longer because of you. So don't try to fool anyone with that excuses. You're interested in her."
Dennis sighed, knowing there was no point in trying to hide it. "Fine. Maybe I am."
Teni clinked her glass against his. "That is my guy. Now, all you have to do is draw your plan out what you want to do, and how you will get it done."
Dennis frowned. "I don't even know where and how to start the conversation this time."
"Teni's expression softened, "You are a man, start by talking to her more. Get to know her beyond surface level."
Dennis stared at her for a long moment, considering her words. She had a point. It has been a long time since he deliberately gets closer to someone in an attempt to know the person beyond the surface level.
"All right, all right," Dennis said. "I will talk to her more. But don't expect me to take any love advice from you, Teni."
She laughed, "You can't escape it, Dennis. You're already halfway into that".
