The warm afternoon sunlight streamed through the tall windows of the mansion, casting a golden glow on the grand living room where I sat, sipping tea. Aiden had left for a meeting an hour ago, leaving me alone in the expansive house. I usually enjoyed the quiet moments, but today something felt off—a faint unease that I couldn't shake.
"Mrs. Mariana?"
I turned to see one of the maids, Grace, standing near the doorway. Her hands were folded nervously in front of her, and her expression was a mixture of hesitation and determination.
"Yes, Grace?" I said, setting my cup down.
"I… I wasn't sure if I should say this, but I think you need to know something."
Her tone immediately caught my attention. "What is it?"
