Lin Feng woke up to the sound of the orphanage's bell ringing loudly. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes and sat up in bed, looking around the small, cramped room he shared with a dozen other boys.
"Get up, Lin Feng!" Wang shouted from across the room. "It's time for breakfast!"
Lin Feng swung his legs over the side of the bed and stood up, stretching his arms over his head. "I'm coming, I'm coming!" he replied, yawning.
As he made his way to the dining hall, Lin Feng's stomach growled with hunger. He had been living at the orphanage for as long as he could remember, and he had grown accustomed to the simple, plain food they served.
When he arrived at the dining hall, Lin Feng took his place at the long wooden table, alongside the other boys. Mrs. Li, the matron of the orphanage, stood at the head of the table, ladling out bowls of steaming hot porridge.
"Good morning, boys," she said, her voice firm but not unkind. "Today is a special day. We have a visitor coming to the orphanage."
The boys all looked at each other in surprise, and Lin Feng felt a spark of curiosity ignite within him.
"Who is it?" one of the boys asked, but Mrs. Li just smiled and said, "You'll find out soon enough. Just make sure to be on your best behavior."
As they ate their breakfast, Lin Feng couldn't help but wonder who this mysterious visitor might be, and what they wanted with the orphanage. He glanced around the table, noticing that the other boys were all chatting and laughing, but he just couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off.
Just as they were finishing up their meal, Mrs. Li stood up and clapped her hands together. "Alright, boys," she said. "Let's get cleaned up and ready for our visitor. I want you all to be on your best behavior."
As the boys all nodded and began to file out of the dining hall, Lin Feng felt a sense of trepidation wash over him. Who was this visitor, and what did they want with him?
And then, just as he was about to follow the other boys out of the dining hall, Lin Feng heard a faint whispering in his ear. "Be careful, Lin Feng," the voice whispered. "Your life is about to change forever."
Lin Feng spun around, but there was no one there. The voice seemed to come from all around him, echoing off the walls of the dining hall.
He felt a shiver run down his spine as he wondered who or what could have spoken to him in such a way. And what did they mean by "your life is about to change forever"?
